<p>You may know Queen Elizabeth II for several reasons, but did you know that she was known to be Britain’s first high-tech monarch? The Queen was more tech-savvy than you could imagine. She was an enthusiastic advocate of technology, and there are several reasons to believe so.</p>

<p>Her coronation in 1953 was the first ever to be televised. She was an early adopter of the internet. In 1976, she sent her first email when visiting the Royal signals and radar establishment in Malvern, England.</p>

<p>It’s reported that she never wrote her emails herself but dictated them. British computer scientist Peter Kirsetin is the man who actually helped&nbsp;the queen in setting up her account in 1976 or rather say, he is the one who put the Queen of England on the internet.</p>

<p>Her username was also quite interesting – “HME2”, which stands for Her Majesty Elizabeth II. Her interest in technology was not just limited to sending emails, in 1997, she launched the first version of the royal family’s website, years before some major media publications in the UK decided to go online.</p>

<p>In December 2007, she launched the royal family‘s YouTube channel, the channel today has 973,000 subscribers. Many of you would be surprised to know, but she was no stranger to social media. She used both Twitter and Instagram accounts as part of the royal family. In 2014, the Queen sent a tweet from the @Britishmonarchy Twitter account in front of a live audience. She had posted to the ‘British monarchy’ Twitter account, which was later renamed, today the account is called ‘The Royal Family.’</p>

<p>Rossiya-1 said that the former colonies in the Caribbean have taken an anti-British stance, with demands for apologies and reparations for slavery.</p>

<p>“The imperial functions of the Anglo-Saxon world long ago passed to the United States, even though Boris Johnson is trying to revive British influence on the European continent by actively interfering in events in Ukraine,” it said.</p>

<p>“[The aim is to] deflect attention from domestic problems like Downing Street parties during the lockdown and a general decline in living standards.”</p>

<p>The UK has been facing one of its worst energy crises on the back of soaring gas prices due to high demand as economies reopened from their pandemic lockdowns and over supply crunch due to the Russia-Ukraine war.</p>

<p>Even though UK’s dependence on Russia’s gas supplies is less compared to other European countries, its gas sources have become expensive due to the war.</p>

<p>Public celebrations to mark Queen Elizabeth II's record-breaking 70-year reign will take place over four days next week.</p>

<p><strong>- Thursday June 2 -</strong></p>

<p>More than 1,200 soldiers from the Household Division of the British Army perform the "Trooping of the Colour" ceremony to officially mark the queen's birthday.</p>

<p>The military pageant, complete with musicians and horses, combines pomp and tradition dating back more than two centuries.</p>

<p>The event culminates with the royal family's appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, to wave to crowds and watch a fly-past of military jets.</p>

<p>Appearances this year are restricted to working royals only, which means no Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, nor Prince Andrew.</p>

<p>More than 2,800 beacons will be lit at the palace and across the UK, including atop the country's four highest peaks, as well as on the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, and British Overseas Territories.</p>
