Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by the French club earlier this summer after failing to deliver the Champions League title. There were also rumours that Mbappe will have a larger say in PSG's sporting project after signing a contract extension at the club.

However, Pochettino has denied the rumours that Mbappe had ny role to play in his sacking and said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is responsible for the major decisions at the club, felt a new sporting project was needed at PSG.

"What I think is that PSG has done everything possible to retain Kylian and I also agree with that. He is one of the best players in world football today and I think that PSG, having all the resources to do it, have convinced him to stay. But I don't think Kylian is the one who designed the new project either (that saw me leave)," Pochettino told Argentinian news outlet Infobae.

"Those who rule, in this case the president, are those who would have thought that the most convenient thing was a new project in the club," he added.

As per a report in AFP, judicial sources informed that Neymar along with his parents and former FC Barcelona presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu will be tried for alleged corruption in the Brazilian's transfer to Barcelona.

However, Neymar isn't facing legal trouble for his move to PSG but for his transfer from Santos to Barcelona.

A Brazilian company DIS has levelled charges of corruption against Neymar and his parents while former Barcelona presidents Rosell and Bartomeu are also set to face charges of fraud. DIS are former owners of a percentage of Neymar's rights and were supposed to earn a part of the player's transfer fee earned by Santos from Barcelona for his transfer in 2013.

Barcelona had officially announced that they paid a transfer fee of 57.1 million ($63.6 million) for Neymar's transfer from Santos in 2013, out of which 40 million euros were paid to the footballer's family and the remaining 17.1 million euros went to Santos. Santos paid 6.8 million out of the 17.1 million to DIS for the player's rights.

Thus, DIS have levelled charges against Neymar, his parents as his father acts as his agent, and former Barcelona presidents Rossell and Bartomeu.

While Rossell was the president of Barcelona when the transfer took place, he later resigned in January 2014 over corruption charges in Neymar's transfer. Bartomeu then took over as the new president of the La Liga club. The two will face charges of corruption and fraud in the matter. The trial is set to take place from October 17 to 31 this year, as per AFP.

Neymar has insisted he was only focused on the footballing aspect of his transfer to Barcelona and trusted his father, who is also his agent. Paris St Germain announced Christophe Galtier as their new manager on Tuesday, shortly after the Ligue 1 champions parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino. Galtier joins PSG on a two-year contract after leaving Nice last month, having guided them to a runners-up finish in the French Cup and fifth place in Ligue 1 last season.

The 55-year-old Frenchman joined Nice in 2021 after leading Lille to their first Ligue 1 title since 2011 in the previous campaign. Before joining Lille, Galtier spent eight seasons at Saint Etienne, where he won the French Cup in 2012-2013.

Al-Khelaifi was cleared again of a charge of incitement to commit aggravated criminal mismanagement for allowing Valcke to use a vacation home in Sardinia rent free.

The home was bought in 2013 by a Qatari company. Valcke, who was FIFA's top administrator for eight years until being removed in 2015, was convicted on separate charges not involving Al-Khelaifi. They relate to taking kickbacks in negotiations for World Cup broadcast rights in Italy and Greece.

The Swiss federal criminal court found Valcke guilty of repeated forgery and passive corruption. He was given a longer suspended sentence&nbsp;11 months instead of three&nbsp;than he received after the original trial in September 2020. A third defendant, Greek marketing executive Dinos Deris, was convicted of active corruption and given a 10-month suspended sentence after first being acquitted in 2020. Both men's sentences were suspended for probationary periods of two years.

The retrial was held in March at the Swiss federal criminal court after prosecutors appealed against the original verdicts. Al-Khelafi's second acquittal was hailed by his legal team as total vindication. Earlier during an interview on Spanish channel El Chiringuito, Perez had claimed Mbappe changed his dream due to political pressure while talking about his failed move to Real Madrid. Referring to reports that Mbappe had a word with French President Emmanuel Macron before signing the new contract at PSG and that he was offered a huge salary by the club, Perez said Mbappe was not the same player that Real Madrid wanted to sign.

The Spanish La Liga have stepped up their attack on cash-rich clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester city. The league claims that the two clubs have continuously breached financial fair play rules and have lodged a formal complaint with UEFA.

LaLiga have filed a complaint to UEFA against Paris St Germain and Manchester City over alleged Financial Fair Play violations, the Spanish professional soccer league announced on Wednesday. The organisation said it would take "further legal action to the European Union, France and Switzerland" justice systems as it understands that "these clubs are continually breaching the current regulations" of financial fair play. 
LaLiga said it lodged the complaint against Manchester City to UEFA in April before filing the one against PSG last week.

The Spanish league also said it was "contemplating expanding that complaint" against City due to "new data" that has come to light. Although the statement did not give any specific details, the English champions signed Norway striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund on a contract that reportedly could cost them over 300 million euros ($313 million), including his salary, agent fees and bonuses. LaLiga president Javier Tebas said last month the organisation would take legal action against the French club after Kylian Mbappe snubbed a move to Real Madrid at the 11th hour and renewed his contract with PSG until 2025. 
LaLiga reacted angrily to Mbappe`s contract extension, saying PSG`s new offer to Mbappe "attacks the economic stability" of European football.

"It is scandalous that a club like PSG, which last season reported losses of more than 220 million euros ($232.32 million) after accumulating losses of more than 700 million euros in prior seasons ... with a squad cost around 650 million for this season, can close such an agreement," LaLiga said at the time. 
After months of negotiations with Real Madrid, France international Mbappe ended up staying with the Ligue 1 champions for a reported annual salary of 50 million euros until 2025.

A look at the PSG squad on paper and it instantly reminds one of the ‘Galacticos’ project of Real Madrid in the first half of the 2000s. Mbappe had agreed personal terms with Real Madrid and was on the verge of signing for the reigning La Liga champions before deciding to accept a lucrative contract offer from PSG to remain in his home country. Mbappe's decision to snub Real Madrid didn't go down well with many Los Blancos fans around the globe.

Mbappe, who had publicly expressed his desire to move to Real Madrid last year, was close to finalising his dream switch earlier this month. However, the talented French striker had a change in heart at the very last minute to extend his contract at PSG. Mbappe has now signed a fresh 3-year deal at PSG which is reportedly set to make him the highest-paid footballer in the world.

Modric, who is currently trying to sort out his own future at Real Madrid, mentioned Mbappe when asked about his contract situation at the club. Modric's current contract is all set to expire on June 30 post which the Croatian midfielder will become a free agent. However, the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner is optimistic about extending his contract at Real Madrid and said he won't do a u-turn like Mbappe.

"I haven't renewed yet, but I'm not going to do a Mbappe. I hope the club doesn't do it to me," Modric told COPE.

"We have a good relationship. I have said many times that I want to finish my career here," he added.

When asked if Real Madrid players were expecting Mbappe to join them at the club this year, Modric said they had no expectations and were not aware of the situation. The Croatian midfielder added that Mbappe's contract extension at PSG didn't come as a surprise to him.

“No, because we didn't know anything. We had no expectations. There was a lot of talk about this, for a year, but we didn't know anything; if it was going to happen or not, and that is why we have to close that topic and not talk about it anymore," said Modric.
