In November, the Prince said the cancer diagnosis of his wife and dad were “brutal”. During his South Africa trip, when asked about the year, he said: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful.
United States president-elect Donald Trump heaped praise on Prince William after meeting the heir to the British throne on Saturday (Dec 7), stating that he was a "good man" doing a "fantastic job". The meeting happened on the occasion of the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The reopening of Notre Dame restored after a 2019 blaze, was attended by the elder son of King Charles III on behalf of Britain.

Trump and William met last in 2019 when the then-US president was on a state visit to Britain.

"A good man, this one!" Trump told reporters, gesturing to William as they met in the French capital at the residence of the UK ambassador to France after the Notre Dame ceremony.

"He's doing a fantastic job," he added as William laughed.

William's last official trip to the French capital was in 2017 with his wife Princess Catherine after the Brexit result had come out.

Kate did not accompany him this time as she is slowly resuming public duties after her cancer diagnosis.

Macron hosted the significant meeting at the Elysee Palace, bringing together Zelensky and Trump for three-way talks. The discussion centred around the complexities of the current global landscape, which the US-president elect poignantly described as a world that's "a little crazy".

This was Zelensky's first face-to-face meeting with Trump and also the incoming US president's first-ever international visit since winning the November 5 elections.

"We all want peace. But it is very important for us... that the peace is just for all of us and that Russia, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin or any other aggressor has no possibility of ever returning," Zelensky said according to the presidential website.

"And this is the most important thing -- a just peace and security guarantees, strong security guarantees for Ukraine," he added.

Zelensky said that his meeting with the US president-elect and the French leader on Saturday (Dec 7) was "good and productive" and that the three agreed to work together. (With inputs from agencies)

'Hardest year of my life' says Prince William on both wife and father's cancer diagnosis

Prince William has recalled how his late mother Princess Diana took him to a shelter for homeless people when he was just 11 years old, saying how the visit opened his eyes to how others lived a different life to him.

In an extract from a documentary about his efforts to end homelessness to be broadcast this week, the heir to the British throne said how Diana how introduced him and his younger brother Prince Harry to the cause as part of her determination to raise wider awareness of social issues from AIDS to mental health.

"I'd never been to anything like that before, and I was a bit anxious as to what to expect. My mother went about her usual part of making everyone feel relaxed and having a laugh and joking with everyone," William said of the 1993 visit to The Passage charity in London.

Last June, the elder son of King Charles launched a five-year project "Homewards" which he said was inspired by Diana.

Homeless charities say it is hard to know exactly how many people are living on the streets but statistics released this month said 178,560 households were assessed as homeless in England in 2023-24, up 12.3% on the year before.

In focusing on homelessness, William said he was "desperately trying to help people who are in need, and I see that as part of my role".

He recalled during his visit to The Passage playing chess and chatting with those there.

"That's when it informed me that there are other people out there who don't have the same life as you do," he says in the documentary. "When you're quite small ... you just think life is what you see in front of you. You don't really have concept to look elsewhere.

Kate Middleton, Britain's Princess of Wales, has revealed that she has finished her course of preventive chemotherapy for cancer. The Princess updated fans about her health on Monday and admitted that her treatment had given her a new perspective and made her grateful for 'simply loving and being loved.'
Kate Middleton gives big update about her cancer treatment, reveals she will resume duties soon

Kate Middleton made a rare appearance in public on Sunday as she attended church in Scotland with King Charles, her husband Prince William and their eldest son Prince George. Middleton has maintained a low profile ever since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
Fans were happy to see a photo of Middleton who has remained away from the public eye mostly this year as she undergoes treatment for cancer. They also provide substantial evidence that she was well enough to travel several hundred miles from her home in Norfolk to join the traditional royal summer vacation.

Kate Middleton joins royal family for Sunday church in a rare public appearance

A report has claimed that Prince William became angry when his relationship with Kate Middleton became public during his college days. Royal author Robert Jobson claims in his new book, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, that William was furious when their romance was revealed at a university dinner party.

Jobson writes in his book that one of William's ex-girlfriends officially outed their relationship. "It was an open secret, among the student community, that Kate and William were a couple," he says.

The girl, Carly Massy-Birch, told others about William and Kate's relationship "perhaps unwittingly" during a drunken game of Never Have I Ever, he says in the book.

Jobson backed his claim by citing another book on the royals written by Katie Nicholl. She apparently also talks about the incident in her Kate: The Future Queen which was released in 2013.

Nicholl describes the incident in her book, quoting a person who was at the party, saying, "[Carly] announced, 'I've never dated two people in this room'. William found himself in the limelight during the party as she knew that William was the only one who had dated two people present in the room at the time. Reportedly, Kate was sitting next to William during the party game.
