William, Kate reunite with Harry and Meghan at Windsor Castle to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

King Charles III announced on Friday that Prince William – his eldest son – will become the heir apparent as he ascends the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. As a result, William will become the new Prince of Wales and also replace his father as the Duke of Cornwall.

Along with the titles, William will also inherit the Duchy of Cornwall – an estate which owns around 128,000 acres of land across the country. According to The Guardian, the estate has properties in 20 counties of the United Kingdom and was one of the major sources of income for King Charles III.

The properties include farmlands, homes, mineral mining grounds and even the Oval cricket ground in London. The Duchy was last valued at around £1bn at the end of March and thanks to the inheritance, William will soon become the most significant landowner in the entire country.

The duchy was established way back in 1337 when Edward III wanted to ensure financial independence for his son – Prince Edward. According to the agreement of the duchy, the estate will be passed on to every Duke of Cornwall in order to ensure that the tradition lives on.

When it comes to taxation, King Charles III voluntarily paid a 45 per cent income tax on all the money that was earned through the duchy. Last year, the tax amounted to around £23m.

However, as the duchy is not a company, it has always been exempted from corporation tax, or capital gains tax.

'The Crown' season 6: Netflix drama finds its Prince William and Kate Middleton

In a bid to give their children a 'normal' life, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are moving out of London.&nbsp;On Monday, Kensington Palace announced that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will be starting at Lambrook School in Winkfield Row, Berkshire in September.

The school is situated outside Windsor and offers boarding. But unlike their father, William's children will be day students at the school. Prince William and Prince Harry were in Ludgrove boarding from a young age.

The family is now relocating from Kensington Palace in central London to a slightly rural setting in Windsor, where they can enjoy life in the countryside. Multiple royal sources have shared that the parents want their children to have a "normal" upbringing despite their royal statuses.

"They are such an outdoorsy family, London just wasn’t working for them anymore," a source who knows the family told People magazine. "The countryside is definitely their happy place."

George and Charlotte were attending Thomas’ School in Battersea, London earlier. Louis was attending Willcocks Nursery School.

According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are moving into Adelaide Cottage, which is described as a modest four-bedroom property. It was built in 1831 for Queen Adelaide, the wife of King William IV.

Prince William has courted controversy after it emerged in an investigation by the Associated Press that the charity founded by him, The Royal Foundation, keeps its investments in a bank that is one of the biggest backers of fossil fuels. This is particularly damning since the Royal Foundation supports causes like conservation and the environment. Prince William has also spoken about the damaging prevalence of fossil fuels that may end up irreversibly harming the fragile ecology of the earth. The burning of fossil fuels like coal, crude oil, and natural gas releases greenhouse gases which in turn are causing climate change.&nbsp;

Scientists have cautioned that if the world does not move away from fossil fuels to greener and renewable alternatives, the radical increase in global temperatures will cause natural disasters like droughts and floods and famine after food shortages due to lack of fresh water in farming.

Prince William, who also holds the title of Duke of Cambridge, is the elder son of Prince Charles, the heir to the throne of Windsor, and late Princess Diana. He appeared in a 2020 Discovery documentary titled 'Prince William: A Planet For Us All' in which he apparently set out on a mission to advocate for the natural world.

When The Guardian contacted Kensington Palace, the seat of Prince William and his wife Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, a spokesperson said, “The Royal Foundation has followed the Church of England guidelines on ethical investment since 2015, and goes beyond these to prohibit investment in fossil fuel companies. Britain's royals on Wednesday paid tribute to the `Windrush generation` at the unveiling of a statue to commemorate the arrival of post-war migrants from the Caribbean, as the government again apologised for their recent mistreatment.

Exactly 74 years ago, the Empire Windrush ship arrived in London, bringing the first of hundreds of thousands of people who came to Britain between 1948 and 1971 to help rebuild the country following World War Two.

However, in 2018, Britain apologised for its "appalling" handling of the Windrush generation, after a tightening of immigration policy meant thousands were denied basic rights despite having lived in Britain for decades, and dozens were wrongly deported.

"Without you all, Britain would simply not be what it is today," Prince William, Queen Elizabeth`s grandson, said at the unveiling of the National Windrush Monument at London`s Waterloo Station.

"I want to say a profound thank you to every member of that generation, and the generations that have followed."

The queen also issued a statement to thank the Windrush pioneers, while senior minister Michael Gove said the government was sorry for its mistakes.

"Words cannot make up for the hurt and anguish caused but lessons have been learned," he said.

Many of those who came to Britain found jobs in the National Health Service or with public transportation but were also victims of racism, as Prince William acknowledged.

"Discrimination remains an all-too-familiar experience for black men and women in Britain in 2022," he said.

William and his wife Kate`s own tour to the Caribbean in March was overshadowed by protests over Britain`s role in slavery, and criticism that it reflected a throwback to colonial times.

"Our trip was an opportunity to reflect, and we learnt so much," he said. "Not just about the different issues that matter most to the people of the region, but also how the past weighs heavily on the present."

"Only a matter of years ago, tens of thousands of that generation were profoundly wronged by the Windrush scandal. That rightly reverberates throughout the Caribbean community here in the UK as well as many in the Caribbean nations."

"I want to say a profound thank you to every member of that generation, and the generations that have followed." The queen also issued a statement to thank the Windrush pioneers, while senior minister Michael Gove said the government was sorry for its mistakes. "Not just about the different issues that matter most to the people of the region, but also how the past weighs heavily on the present." "Only a matter of years ago, tens of thousands of that generation were profoundly wronged by the Windrush scandal. That rightly reverberates throughout the Caribbean community here in the UK as well as many in the Caribbean nations." (Reporting by Michael Holden; Editing by Bernadette Baum)

Prince Louis wears a blue sailor suit to the Trooping the Colour parade that was once worn by dad Prince William
It was truly a throwback Thursday for Britain's Prince Louis as he stepped out with his older siblings- Prince George and Princess Charlotte - along with parents Prince William and Kate Middleton joined Queen Elizabeth II for the Trooping the Colour parade. The four-year-old Louis was seen wearing the same mini sailor suit that his father had worn in 1985 at the age of 2!

Britain kickstarted the four-day celebration to mark the Queen's 70 years on the throne on Thursday.&nbsp;

William and Kate's three children joined the parade for the first time on Thursday and politely waved at the cheering crown and paps as their carriage made its way to the Buckingham Palace. They came along with their mother Kate and Duchess of Cornwall, Camila.&nbsp;

Later the three made an appearance with other members of the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony to witness the Royal Air Force flypast. Several jets flew in formation to form the number 70 in honour of the Queen`s long reign.

This isn't the first time one of &nbsp;William's children has worn a hand-me-down from their father's closet. In 2015, 2-year-old Prince George, making his own Trooping debut on the Buckingham Palace balcony, wore a baby blue romper 31 years after William had worn the same outfit for the same occasion.

In 2019, Louis made his own balcony debut in uncle Harry's outfit. Harry had worn the blue-and-white shirt with matching shorts back in 1986 and had been pictured in his mother's arms, Princess Diana's arm on the same balcony.&nbsp;

Prince George and Princess Charlotte make their debut at Easter celebration with the royal family

Ailing Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday made her first major public appearance in months at a thanksgiving service for her late husband, Prince Philip, who died last year aged 99.

The service featured the hymn “Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer,” fulfilling one of Philip’s wishes for his funeral that wasn’t carried out because of restrictions that banned singing.

Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who was by his wife's side for more than seven decades, passed away at their Windsor Castle home in April, two months shy of his 100th birthday.

Only 30 people attended last year’s funeral, conducted under the strict COVID-19 lockdown rules then in place that forced the queen to sit alone wearing a black mask as she mourned the loss of her husband, who she called her rock.

Tuesday's service of thanksgiving at London's Westminster Abbey was a much bigger event, with the queen joining her heir, Prince Charles, his son William and wife Kate and other members of the royal family, including their children.

Joining them in the congregation was foreign kings and queens, friends of the late duke, politicians including Prime Minister Boris Johnson, military figures and more than 500 representatives from charities and other organisations he championed.

Buckingham Palace said the 95-year-old queen had been actively involved in its planning.

The monarch herself has been forced to cut back on her duties since she spent a night in hospital last October for an unspecified illness and was advised to rest, and there have been concerns about her health after she cancelled a number of planned engagements since then.

The occasion also marked the first public event for her second son Prince Andrew since he made an undisclosed payment to settle a US lawsuit over allegations he sexually assaulted a teenage girl decades ago, claims he denied.

Prince Harry, who has moved to live in the United States with his wife Meghan, did not attend the service following a disagreement with the government over security protection.

Elizabeth, who recently recovered from COVID-19, didn’t go to a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey earlier this month, but she continued with other scheduled engagements, including in-person audiences.

Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton enjoyed their first full day on their Caribbean Tour with a visit to a cacao farm in Belize on Sunday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had to change their planned outing to a different cacao farm after their earlier tour was cancelled on Friday due to a local protest against the couple's visit.&nbsp;

Residents of Indian Creek, an indigenous Maya village in southern Belize, told Reuters they were upset that the royal couple's helicopter had been granted permission to land on a local soccer field without prior consultation.

On Sunday, Kate and Prince William moved their visit to the family-run Che'il Mayan Cacao Farm and Chocolate Factory in Maya Center Village. The couple were seen learning firsthand how they turned raw cacao into chocolate.&nbsp;
The royal couple made an update on their Twitter account and said, "Good morning! We’re looking forward to our first full day in Belize."

The England and Manchester United striker waged a high-profile campaign last year to persuade the Conservative government it should extend free meal vouchers to vulnerable young people throughout the summer school holidays.

UK's Prince William has urged entrepreneurs to focus on saving Earth first instead of engaging in space tourism.&nbsp;
The Duke of Cambridge said great brains and minds should be "trying to repair this planet, not trying to find the next place to go and live".

The Prince spoke about the rise in 'climate anxiety' among the younger generations during his appearance on BBC's Newscast ahead of the first Earthshot Prize to reward those trying to save the planet.

The prize's name is a reference to the "moonshot" ambition of 1960s America, which saw then-US President John F Kennedy pledge to get a man on the moon within a decade.

William focussed on the current trend of space race and obsession to promote space tourism. "We need some of the world's greatest brains and minds fixed on trying to repair this planet, not trying to find the next place to go and live.
"I think that ultimately is what sold it for me - that really is quite crucial to be focusing on this (planet) rather than giving up and heading out into space to try and think of solutions for the future."

Williams comments came a day prior to Hollywood actor William Shatner's travel to space, Shatner on Wednesday became the oldest person to go to space as he blasted off aboard the Blue Origin sub-orbital capsule which has been developed by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/life-changing-as-blue-origin-touches-down-william-shatner-becomes-oldest-man-to-fly-to-space-420485" hreflang="en">'Life changing': As Blue Origin touches down, William Shatner becomes oldest man to fly to space</a>

Sir Richard Branson and Elon Musk are also building up space businesses.

William said he had "absolutely no interest" in going as high as space, adding there was a "fundamental question" over the carbon cost of space flights.

He warned there was "a rise in climate anxiety" among young people who whose "futures are basically threatened the whole time".

"It's very unnerving and it's very, you know, anxiety making," he added.

William also said his father, Prince Charles, had a "rough ride" when warning about climate change, adding, "It's been a hard road for him."

He said Charles, inspired by his father, the late Duke of Edinburgh, "talked about climate change a lot more, very early on, before anyone else thought it was a topic".

The duke added that "it would be an absolute disaster if (Prince) George is sat here talking" about saving the planet in 30 year's time.
