The island, which has a population of just under 300,000, was claimed by the British in 1625. It has sometimes been called "Little England" for its loyalty to British customs.

It is relatively prosperous, and a popular tourist destination: before the Covid-19 pandemic, more than a million tourists visited its idyllic beaches and crystalline waters each year.

Mason announced in September 2020 that the country would break with Britain, saying "the time has come to fully leave our colonial past behind".

A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said this was "a matter for the government and people of Barbados".

Charles -- who has for several years represented his mother on overseas trips because of her age -- held a bilateral meeting with Mottley at the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

Britain's Prince Charles has revealed his old Aston Martin sports car runs partly on cheese waste and surplus white wine.

The car was gifted to him on his 21st birthday. Charles, 72, while speaking to BBC radio said he had asked the Aston Martin engineers to make the car environmentally friendly, although, it wasn't easy early on but the company relented and gave the prince his wish.

The cake is expected to sell for around $700, or 500 British pounds.&nbsp;

The slice is from one of the 27 cakes served at the wedding on July 29, 1981.

Over 750 million people tuned in to watch the century's most-watched televised wedding, in which the Archbishop of Canterbury famously said, "Here is the stuff of fairy tales."&nbsp;

The cake was presented to Moyra Smith, a member of the Queen Mother's Clarence House staff.

Smith stored it in a flowered cake tin with a handwritten note on the lid that read: "Handle with Care - Prince Charles and Princess Diane's (sic) Wedding Cake," signed and dated 29/7/81.&nbsp;

The cake was sold to a collector by Smith's family in 2008, but it is up for sale again on August 11.

It is projected to sell for between £318 and £697 and will include an order of service, ceremonial details, and a royal wedding breakfast programme.&nbsp;

Firstly, we need to focus on accelerating the flow of private capital to support the transition,'' said&nbsp;Prince Charles.

The royal laid out the vision behind his Sustainable Markets Initiative, which he launched in January 2020, to get CEOs from almost every sector together with the express aim of identifying obstacles to progress and finding game-changing ways to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon future.

The efforts have identified large financing gaps&nbsp;around sustainable initiatives, in the areas of green energy, water, sanitation, transport, and other critical infrastructure.

Journalist Bashir tricked&nbsp;Diana&nbsp;into giving a 1995 BBC television interview in which she lifted the lid on her troubled marriage to Prince Charles, an independent investigation concluded on Thursday.

Tony Hall, who had led an earlier investigation into the interview and was later named head of the BBC, said he had "today resigned as Chair of the National Gallery.

"As I said two days ago, I am very sorry for the events of 25 years ago and I believe leadership means taking responsibility," he said in a statement released by the world-renowned London gallery.
