The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially sacked the trio of Micky Arthur, Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick after a poor string of results in recent months. Marsh's current form in ODIs and his blistering hundred in Ashes earlier this year on his return to red-ball format may just work in his favour. The all-rounder, however, is unperturbed by the selection scenarios and said that he's here to enjoy and have fun.

"I'm past battling, I'm here to enjoy my cricket and have fun," Marsh added. "I absolutely love playing for Australia.

Though local media reported Inzamam’s connections with a UK-based company - Yazoo International Ltd, leading to all trouble, the veteran captain resigned immediately, distancing himself from any controversy.

Meanwhile, Wahab, who retired from international cricket in August this year, remains active in the franchise cricket circle. Although he hasn’t officially parted ways with the Pakistan Cricket League (PSL), his team - Peshawar Zalmi, thanked him for his exceptional service to this league and game over the years.

Their post read, "Thank you for your countless contributions over the past 8 years and you will always remain an integral part of Zalmi family."

While addressing the nation upon getting picked as the new chief selector, Wahab, in a video recording uploaded on PCB’s official handles, said,&nbsp;

"The [PCB's] decision to involve former players in cricketing matters is commendable, and I am willing to work for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.&nbsp;

"Heading a selection committee is a challenging task. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf has been accused of 'flagrant misdoings and unconstitutional decisions' by Zulfiqar Malik, a member of his own management committee. Ashraf made the allegations in an email marked to the Prime Minister's Office and Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPL) ministry as well. The developments, including the content of email, were reported by ESPNCricinfo.

As per the email, Malik accused the PCB chief of the following irregularities and wrongdoings:

However, in reply, Babar Azam declined any conversations with Ashraf as he was under scrutiny during the ODI World Cup for Pakistan’s poor show.

As things stand, Pakistan have lost four consecutive matches in the ODI World Cup after having won the&nbsp;two opening matches. They are on the verge of exiting the tournament before the semifinal as they face a tough task with three matches to play. Their latest defeat to South Africa has put them on the seventh spot in the standings. A defeat to Bangladesh on Tuesday will see them officially exit the ODI World Cup before the semifinal stage.

On the other hand, it is reported that captain Babar could resign in the coming days once the team gets back to Pakistan after the World Cup. On Monday, chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq resigned from his post after the team’s dismal show.

'When such allegations are levelled...': Inzamam on his resignation as PCB chief selector amid WC struggles

Pakistan Cricket, both on and off the field, is in shambles. While the cricket team has failed to produce noteworthy performances during World Cup 2023, the drama unfolding outside of it has created unrest among players and the board.&nbsp;

Following allegations laid by ex-Pakistan captain Rashid Latif on national TV of PCB head Zaka Ashraf avoiding Babar Azam’s call or messages, PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Salman Naseer, cleared the air by allowing the WhatsApp chat between the two to get showcased on live TV.

After Latif’s remarks made headlines, a local TV channel contacted Zaka Ashraf to get clarity on the matter. Revealing the details of any conversation between the two, Zaka commented,&nbsp;

“He [Latif] says that I don’t pick up his [Babar’s] call,” Ashraf said. “He’s never given me a call. The chief operating officer or the director of international cricket is expected to speak with the captain of the team,” the PCB chief added.

In the leaked WhatsApp chat revealed, Naseer asked Babar,&nbsp;“Babar, there’s also been news circulating on TV and social media that you have been calling Chairman, and he’s not answering. Have you lately given him a call?” 
 
To which Babar’s response was, “Salam Salman bhai, I have not made any call to sir.”

<h2>Unrest in Pakistan Cricket</h2>

The Pakistan Team has won just two out of the six contested matches and suffered losses in four of them. Such results have impacted their chances of making the semis.

Although mathematically, they can still make through, given the unrest inside the dressing room and outside of it, they look unlikely to break loose and reach the final four.

Following losing to Afghanistan in a shocker in Chennai, the PCB released a statement asking fans and pundits to back the players instead of putting them under the bus.

The source further revealed that despite advice from former captains such as Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammed Hafeez to make some changes to the final World Cup squad, Babar got all the 18 players he wanted and was backed by PCB chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.&nbsp;

"The PCB Chairman, Zaka Ashraf ignored the advice of Misbah and Hafeez and some other former players whom he consulted as Babar was adamant he didn't want changes in the team for the World Cup," the source said.

Misbah, former captain and coach, also confirmed on a television channel that he had asked Babar to include mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed in the World Cup squad. However, the current skipper only added him as a travelling reserve.

It is to be noted that lobbies for the possible candidates, including Sarfaraz, Shaheen, Rizwan and Shan Masood have already started their work to get their candidate selected. In a likely scenario, the PCB is contemplating different captains for the red and white-ball formats.

"Sarfaraz might win the nod to captain the Test and ODI sides again while Shaheen may get a chance to be the T20 captain," the source added. Sarfaraz is not part of the Babar-led ODI World Cup squad.

Babar was appointed T20I captain in late 2019 but became the all-format skipper by 2021.

Drawing comparisons with how fit and polished their counterparts are on the field, Akram said, "I am concerned about the fitness of these players.”

“Now, there is no fitness test. When Misbah was the coach and selector, he used to get the Yo-Yo Test and other tests done. A professional cricketer should undergo a fitness test at least once in a month. If you won't do this, you will face this (defeat vs India)," Akram said on a Pakistan TV show.

He even went on to say that because of ongoing tensions behind the scenes in PCB, there was a lot of unrest in the dressing room, resulting in them failing to deliver on the big day.

Asked to bat first after losing the toss, Pakistan got off to a good start. Though both openers got out inside the first 12 overs, Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan steadied the ship with an 82-run stand. However, the Indian bowlers inflicted crucial blows, triggering a collapse&nbsp;and reducing them from 155 for two to 191 all out.
