It is to be noted that Pakistan is expected to host the ICC Champions Trophy early next year, their first ICC tournament since co-hosting 1996 ODI World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.

"There is a huge difference in international stadiums and those of ours. None of our stadiums are of international standard," said Naqvi while talking to media during inspection at Lahore's iconic Gaddafi Stadium.

He, however, felt confident of getting the work done before the tournament starts in February next year.

“The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) will make sure that all the stadiums in Pakistan become world-class. We will provide basic facilities in stadiums. The Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan,” he added.

PCB has earmarked three venues in Karachi's National Stadium, Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi's Pindi Cricket Stadium to host the multi-nation tournament.

All three stadiums are currently undergoing renovation. PCB has also shifted the second Test against Bangladesh from Karachi to Rawalpindi in order to not disrupt the ongoing work.

There's, however, no clarity on India travelling to Pakistan for the tournament. India had also opted out of travelling to Pakistan for regional Asia Cup tournament in 2023. India's matches in the regional tournament were instead held in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan although, had travelled to India for the ODI World Cup 2023 shortly after the Asia Cup last year.

PCB has also submitted a draft schedule to the ICC for the tournament and has marked Lahore as the venue for hosting all of India's matches in the tournament including the semi-final and final.

The UK-based firm, founded 63 years ago, has designed around 200 stadiums worldwide, securing over 1000 design quality awards.

“India is the richest cricket board and carries a lot of clout. If they don’t send their team to Pakistan I foresee even countries like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh following their path. This would basically reduce the Champions Trophy into a venture where revenues will take a hit, expenses will grow and profits would fall,” he continued.

After Bangladesh, England will tour Pakistan for three Tests from 7-28 October, with Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi playing hosts, respectively.

Pakistan will then travel to Australia and Zimbabwe for the limited-over tours before flying to the Rainbow Nation (South Africa) for a full-fledged series. While Pakistan will play three ODIs and as many T20Is Down Under from 4-18 November, they will take on Zimbabwe in a similar itinerary from November 24 to December 5.&nbsp;

Pakistan’s tour of South Africa begins with three T20Is, followed by three ODIs and two Tests.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Pakistan will host the West Indies for two Tests from 16-28 January in Multan and Karachi, respectively.&nbsp;

Pakistan’s home schedule for 2024/25 Pakistan will begin the home season with two Tests against Bangladesh – in Rawalpindi and Karachi, from August 21 to September 3. Considering the monsoon and the humidity that follows during this month, Pakistan usually doesn’t host matches in August. However, the last they hosted a series during this time was against Bangladesh in 2003. After Bangladesh, England will tour Pakistan for three Tests from 7-28 October, with Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi playing hosts, respectively. Pakistan will then travel to Australia and Zimbabwe for the limited-over tours before flying to the Rainbow Nation (South Africa) for a full-fledged series. While Pakistan will play three ODIs and as many T20Is Down Under from 4-18 November, they will take on Zimbabwe in a similar itinerary from November 24 to December 5. Pakistan’s tour of South Africa begins with three T20Is, followed by three ODIs and two Tests. Meanwhile, Pakistan will host the West Indies for two Tests from 16-28 January in Multan and Karachi, respectively. Following a video that has gone viral on social media of a journalist revealing several top players, including the captain Babar Azam and star players like Shaheen Shah Afridi, underperformed on purpose, the PCB demanded evidence against such baseless allegations.

Per a report in Cricket Pakistan, the ICC’s anti-corruption officials and the security manager, who accompanied the team, kept a close watch on everyone. Besides, per the sources close to the information, none of the star players, including Babar, Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shadab Khan, ever got involved in ill activities.

<h2>‘Defamation case to follow’</h2>

Upon approaching the board, the officials said,&nbsp;

"We are fully aware of these negative comments. Criticism within the bounds of the game is acceptable, and there is no objection to it. However, baseless allegations like match-fixing cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.”

Moreover, when asked further on what steps the stakeholders take to curb such remarks, the official stated,&nbsp;

"PCB has no doubts, so why should we conduct an inquiry? Those who made the allegations should provide proof. We have instructed our legal department to issue notices to such individuals and demand evidence. If not provided, we will seek compensation for defamation. A new law in Punjab ensures that a decision will come within six months."

However, the PCB intends to shuffle the pack of selectors rather than focus on Babar’s captaincy performance.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has come to the defence of Haris Rauf after the pacer was involved in an altercation with a fan while out on a stroll with his wife. The video of the incident went viral on social media on Tueday (Jun 18) and showed Rauf having a go at the fan who said something to incense him.&nbsp;

'Apologise or face action': Pakistan Cricket Board threatens fan involved in altercation with Haris Rauf

Pakistan cricket is once again facing tumultuous times after an early exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup. Pakistan's newly appointed coach Gary Kirsten also said that there's no unity in the team and hence a poor display of play in the tournament.

Reacting to the reports of comments by the head coach, former Pakistan president Arif Alvi had a rather unique take but all with good intention.

“For us in Pakistan there is an easy solution to this serious allegation. This is an attack on the solidarity &amp; integrity of Pakistan. We have information from credible sources (cipher) that cannot be revealed that he is working under the direct influence of foreign interests against our ideology. The patron of the PCB has ordered immediate action that includes registration of FIRs in all the cricket playing centers of Pakistan and his name is put on the ECL,” Alvi wrote on social medial platform X with tongue in cheek.
