Jason Gillespie said Monday he felt no longer wanted as Pakistan's Test coach and was left out of major decisions, having quit the post last week.

Gillespie said he was not informed of the decision to remove performance coach Tim Nielsen, also an Australian.
"Nielsen was told his services were no longer required and I had zero communication from anyone and that was the moment I thought: well, I'm not really sure they actually want me to do this job," Gillespie told Australian broadcaster ABC in Brisbane.
He added: "For a decision to then be made (about Nielsen) and the head coach doesn't get a text message, phone call or email about a decision that's a pretty big decision.
"It just left me thinking well I'm really not sure if the PCB wants me."
The PCB accepted Gillespie's resignation, the second in two months after former South Africa opener Gary Kirsten quit as white-ball coach over differences with selectors.
Gillespie had the worst possible start to his coaching stint when Pakistan were whitewashed 2-0 by Bangladesh.
That was followed by an innings defeat against England in the first Test in Multan.
The defeat prompted the PCB to make sweeping changes, removing Gillespie from the selection panel and dropping star players Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah.
Pakistan won the remaining two Tests to seal the series 2-1.
Gillespie refused to join the team for the two-Test series in South Africa starting in Centurion from December 26.
Gillespie said he was upset over the reduction of his role.
"In essence I was basically hitting catches and that was about it on the morning of a game," he told ABC.
"You want to be able to have clear communication with all stakeholders, including selectors and knowing what the team is as head coach at least a day before the game so you can help plan and prepare the players."
The exits of Gillespie and Kirsten means Pakistan have now had seven different coaches across formats in the last three years.

Amir went on to play 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 62 T20Is for Pakistan, taking 119, 81 and 71 wickets, respectively. Considering Gillespie's point of view, he felt offended and disrespected by the PCB for not consulting him before taking this call, leaving him frustrated and seeking an immediate exit.&nbsp;

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approached its government for final approval after reports of them accepting the BCCI and ICC’s proposal of a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025 surfaced online. Per the latest developments, the PCB has agreed to share hosting rights of the eight-team tournament with the United Arab Emirates (potentially), with India playing all its matches in Dubai, including the semis and final, should they qualify.&nbsp;

Lahore, one of the three venues for CT 2025, will be kept as a backup should India fail to cruise to the last four or summit clash. A formal announcement will be issued on Saturday (Dec 7) as the ICC board meeting, scheduled for Thursday (Dec 5), got postponed.

It further leads to India and Pakistan being confined to playing at neutral venues in all ICC tournaments (for men’s and women’s). Despite India hosting the Women’s World Cup and Asia Cup next year and co-hosting the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with Sri Lanka, Pakistan will not travel to India as neutral venues to stage their matches.

Moreover, several reports also claim that the PCB will not get any additional compensation for sharing the hosting rights, with the ICC also denying increasing their revenue share.

With all parties concerned coming onto the same page after weeks of discussions and denials, the ICC could be working on the final schedule for the Champions Trophy scheduled for the February-March window next year.

Champions Trophy: 'PCB to follow BCCI’s path after hybrid model approval; official announcement soon'

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to accept the hybrid model for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 after India's refusal to travel to Pakistan. The development reported by news agency PTI also mentioned some demands by the PCB if the board were to accept the hybrid model for the upcoming ICC event.

"The current situation is that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that it will only accept hosting the Champions Trophy on a hybrid model if the board agrees that in future all ICC events will be on same system with Pakistan not going to India to play matches," reported PTI quoting a PCB source.

"Pakistan also wants the ICC board to increase its financial cycle share of revenues from 5.75 percent and Naqvi is insistent on this but he has not sought any additional hosting fees," the report further added as per the source.

"Pakistan has taken only one stance and that is in future, it will also not play in India in any ICC events and the Hybrid model should be applied for all future ICC events that Pakistan and India will play their games at neutral venues," he said.

If accepted, India is likely to play its matches in UAE under the hybrid model including the semi-final and the final, given they qualify.

Both countries do not play bilateral cricket due to political tensions. The two sides have only met in ICC events since 2012.

India had decided not to play in Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2023 last year as well and the tournament was played under a hybrid model with India's games being scheduled in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan, however, travelled to India for the ODI World Cup 2023 immediately after the ODI WC and hoped for India to return the favour.

Latif continued by saying that it’s not any bilateral series that BCCI can refuse to travel to Pakistan and that it’s an ICC event for which India, like all other participating nations, signed up, and on those grounds, must adhere to it.

“This is an ICC event. The cycle has been signed from 2024-2031. All the broadcasters and sponsors have signed about the teams that will participate in the Champions Trophy or the World Cup," Latif said during the Geo News show.

“If a team denies to participate, they need to have a solid reason to justify their call. Just like in 1996, the West Indies and Australia did not go to Sri Lanka but still reached the final. If you make a reason for security, then it is not a solid reason. Teams like Australia, New Zealand, England, and South Africa are coming to Pakistan," he added.

The PCB chief also warned India of consequences in future if India do not travel to Pakistan for the ICC tournament.

"If we get a letter from India, I'll have to go to my government and have to abide by their decisions. Pakistan has shown great gestures to India in the past, and we'd like to say clearly India shouldn't expect such friendly gestures from us every time [if they refuse to come]. The government will decide if Pakistan travel for any future event in India if they don't come to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The PCB will not decide that," Naqvi further stated.

Both the countries do not play bilateral cricket due to the political tensions. Last year, India had refused to travel to Pakistan for the regional Asia Cup as well but Pakistan travelled to India for the ODI World Cup which followed soon after.

The Indian cricket team has not travelled to Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup as diplomatic relations between the nations hit low after the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

The PCB is determined to host the entire Champions Trophy in Pakistan thereby avoiding a hybrid model which was in use when Pakistan was the host of the 2023 Asia Cup. The model allowed India to play its matches in Sri Lanka while other nations played in Pakistan.
