"We have to focus on our intent and approach. We have to improve that. In modern day cricket, these things are important. This is a young team and we want to play fearless cricket. That is high-risk cricket, which is a requirement in modern cricket. There will be failures with that approach, but we have to support our players," he added.

"I am a bit old-fashioned saying that but people don't try (art) it. I still think that is the basics of playing a spinner. You rather know your basics, if you know your basics it's like a foundation for a building you have your basics right you have something to fall on. You can always run and check what these traits have done over the years. But if you have only confidence in sweeping and reverse sweeping, you are forgetting the easier the artistic manner that players in the yesteryear succeeded. We had spinners always, it was about field setting, and that's all, I think you must have a base," he added.

Notably, the previous central contract agreement between the PCB and players, many aspects such as significant benefits, including salary increases were negotiated. Players in Category A, featuring the likes of Babar, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi, earn monthly retainers of 4.5 million rupees after tax deductions. In addition, they receive a share from logo sponsorships as well as three&nbsp;percent of the revenues the PCB generates from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

This year, players' share of ICC revenue comes to approximately 1.53 million rupees each. However, payment delays have led to huge&nbsp;concerns. In addition, the report cites&nbsp;that the PCB has attributed the delay to administrative issues and pending revenue from various sources.

"The PCB is spending a lot on the complete facelift of the three stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi for the ICC Champions Trophy, besides other cricket-related expenses. But the dues of players would be cleared this month," the source further said.

Future central contract increments, slated for 2024-25 and 2025-26, does promise a substantial rise&nbsp;in players' earnings. In Category A, retainers are expected to see a rise to 2,070,000 rupees a month, with corresponding hikes for players in Categories B, C, and D.
