The right-arm seamer, who returned to competitive cricket following a lengthy layoff due to injury, revealed that a sense of insecurity of being replaced by someone new prevails among players in case they miss out on playing regular games or take rest.

Shah missed the 2023 World Cup in India due to a shoulder injury and remained on the sidelines for the remainder of the year, including missing the two tours Down Under (Tests against Australia and T20Is versus New Zealand).

Admitting to fear the same as new faces emerged on the scene across formats, Shah said in a chat with Cricwick,&nbsp;"Honestly, the main players are afraid of giving their bodies rest even when they know they need a break because the Pakistan cricket culture is such that if a new player comes in and performs in a match or two, you don't know if he will replace you permanently in the team." &nbsp;

"This fear does not allow players to rest because you are scared your careers could end there," the young bowler said.

Citing examples of different cultures in different teams, Shah pointed out that in some countries, the players are assured of their places in the side despite missing action for whatever reason, unlike in Pakistan.

Regarded as perhaps the most sort-after emerging pacer in world cricket, Shah has a scary history of getting injured.&nbsp;

From staying away from cricket for nearly 14 months due to a back injury at 17, Shah has suffered shoulder injury twice in his career, most recently last year during the Asia Cup, after which he got sidelined for an indefinite period.

Shah last bowled in international cricket against India in the 2023 Asia Cup tie in Colombo, and upon feeling discomfort in his bowling arm, he never returned to playing for Pakistan for the rest of the year.

Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman scored a sublime ton on November 4 in Bengaluru, helping his team beat New Zealand by 21 runs in the rain-hit ODI World Cup 2023 match. "We wanted to try and make it up [in those five overs]. At this level, planning is important. It's difficult otherwise. We had planned for this. So when we got 10 runs ahead, close to the 20th over, we played out [Trent] Boult because we knew we were well ahead," said Zaman about the batting approach in the game.

"We wanted to try and make it up [in those five overs]. At this level, planning is important. It's difficult otherwise. We had planned for this. So when we got 10 runs ahead, close to the 20th over, we played out [Trent] Boult because we knew we were well ahead," said Zaman about the batting approach in the game. The Pak opener didn't play the first few matches of the tournament but has been instrumental ever since he was given a chance. "Every game we go into, we want to win. And I'll be brutally honest, I don't think we've played to our full potential this tournament yet. I thought the Bangladesh game is the first game where we actually put a complete game together. We batted beautifully, bowled beautifully, and fielded beautifully, which in all the other games, we've done one or two disciplines OK, but our other disciplines let us down," the South African mentioned.

"So, I'd like to say we're peaking, but the preparation of the guys and the attitude of the guys' will to get better every day, that has been exceptional. So, I can't fault anybody in terms of that. But we found our best game against Bangladesh and I just hope that's not too late for us," Arthur&nbsp;added.

Pakistan need to win their remaining two games and also hope for other results to go in their favour if they are to enter the semi-finals.

"In terms of the ICC rankings, we know they are skewed because we don't get to play India, we don't get to play a lot of the top nations who haven't been to Pakistan of late," he added.

Bradburn, talking on the eve of a crucial game against Bangladesh, further said: "We were No. 5 in April, we became No. 1 recently before the tournament, and that might be where you term the phrase favourites. But we're realistic. We have not been the best in the world as yet, which highlights where we are in this tournament right now. We have no divine right to beat anyone in this tournament. We have to play quality cricket, and we have to put all three departments of our game together."

After Bangladesh, Pakistan's next two games are against New Zealand and England on November 4 and 11, respectively.

This comes amid Babar Azam-led Pakistan's ODI World Cup struggles, where they have lost four games on the trot and are on the verge of an early exit. A lot of fingers were pointed at chief selector Inzamam post the national side's struggles. However, not many expected him to resign in the middle of the mega event in India.&nbsp;

Inzamam resigned&nbsp;after media reports claimed the former cricketer had a stake in a player’s management company registered with the PCB. The reports further claimed that&nbsp;several top players including Babar and Mohammad Rizwan were associated with the company. The veteran also reacted to his resignation. On Monday evening, he said in an interview, on&nbsp;SAMAA TV&nbsp;programme ‘Zor Ka Jor’ that he went to the board after the allegations and asked them to hold an inquiry. Following this, he decided to step down. He, however, claimed that he is willing to sit with the board after the completion of the probe.&nbsp;
