<p>The US government was in contact "not just with Twitter but with virtually every major tech firm". This includes Facebook, Microsoft, Verison, Reddit, Pinterest and "many others".</p>

<p>As per the revelations, around the 2020 elections, the government had "overwhelmed" Twitter with lists of hundreds of "problem accounts" that were to be taken down for misleading information.</p>

Twitter Files 9.0 reveals a web of ‘social media surveillance, censorship’ by not just FBI, other agencies too

<p>We live in the age of instant gratification and Gen-Z is the mascot for it. Hungry? Here's an app that delivers food in minutes; bored? here's an inexhaustible database of TV series and movies; need some external validation, upload nice pictures on social media and likes will follow. But what about if you need medical advice? Apparently, it's TikTok and Youtube to the rescue.</p>

<p>As per a survey of about 2,000 US adults from earlier this month, one-third of GenZers "consult" TikTok for health advice while another 44 per cent turn to YouTube, the qualified doctors are the third option...if that.</p>

<p>The survey was conducted by CharityRx, a discount pharmacy service, and with it, the company attempted to " explore how the spread of health information, treatment options and health authorities is impacting consumer behaviour when it comes to managing personal wellbeing".</p>

<p>It found that nearly one in five individuals trust "health influencers" more than medical professionals. They consult these "experts" on a variety of health concerns but concerns like anxiety, depression and weight loss top the list.</p>

<p>About 34 per cent seek advice from influencers for anxiety, while 33 per cent dos o for depression and another 34 "consult" their videos for weight loss.</p>

Elon Musk breaks silence after damning poll called for his resignation as Twitter CEO

<p>At least 36 people were injured, some seriously when their flight met with "severe turbulence".</p>

<p>This happened on a Hawaiian Airlines flight on its way from Phoenix to Honolulu. At least 20 passengers including a 14-month-old child had to be taken to the emergency room.</p>

<p>Eleven patients were in serious condition said Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The hurt as per Daily Mail includes both passengers and three members of the flight crew.</p>

<p>As per a CNN report citing Honolulu EMS, patients' injuries include serious head injuries, cuts, bruising and some even lost consciousness.</p>

<p>Cellphone footage shared on Twitter show that oxygen masks were deployed. Additionally, the footage shows cracks on the aeroplane's plastic ceiling which apparently happened when passengers onboard smashed into it due to the turbulence.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The airline said that it is monitoring the situation and "supporting all affected passengers &amp; employees". The FAA said it was investigating the incident.</p>

<p>As per Honolulu EMS Director Dr Jim Ireland they initially thought that a few patients with critical injuries, however, "after further assessment it turns out they weren't that severely injured, which was great."</p>

<p>A team of researchers at one of Switzerland's top universities ETH Zurich have come up with a transparent nano-coating that can stop spectacles from fogging up in humid conditions.</p>

<p>This coating which is made using gold harnesses sunlight to heat up the glasses which then stops them from fogging. It doesn't need any batteries or other components.</p>

<p>Its use is not just limited to spectacles but can also possibly be utilised in car windshields etc. However this is still under testing, but the researchers contend that the applications of this coating are endless.</p>

<p>The approach used by this technology differs from traditional anti-fog methods, which fulfil their purpose by coating surfaces with hydrophilic or water-attracting molecules, that cause an even spread of condensation.</p>

Scientists develop a solution for foggy spectacles

<p>A 12-year-old mountain lion, famous among residents of Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles had to be put down after being captured just days earlier.&nbsp;Named P-22, the ageing mountain lion has for a decade been living in the shadows of Hollywood Hills. <p>As per Reuters, there were also concerns about the animal's health as it was feared that he had been struck by a car. Additionally, P-22 was believed to be suffering from other health problems.</p>

<p>Officials at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) said that the mountain lion was put to sleep at 9 am on Saturday.</p>

<p>He was also found to be suffering from irreversible kidney disease, chronic weight loss, extensive parasitic skin infection over his entire body and localized arthritis due to which "compassionate euthanasia under general anaesthesia" was recommended by the medical team at San Diego Zoo Safari Park.</p>

<p>The UK Office of communications or Ofcom did an in-depth survey involving 100 smart speaker owners and 15 non-owners. They found that a large number of survey participants reported that the speakers acted as a "companion" with whom they can talk.</p>

<p>"Some described their speaker as being like a companion, particularly if they lived alone. They felt it was good for combatting loneliness and liked the fact they could talk to their speakers," said Ofcom on its website.</p>

<p>California's famous mountain lion P-22, often referred to as 'Brad Pitt' due to his good looks and easygoing attitude, has been captured to and tranquilised weeks after it attacked and killed a leashed chihuahua dog in Hollywood hills.</p>

<p>About four weeks back a video of the violent incident had gone viral on social video. As per KTLA, the tiny dog named Piper along with another canine was out on a leashed walk with its owner when the mountain lion attacked it. Piper was grievously injured and did not survive the attack.</p>

<p>"P-22 is a remarkably old cat in the wild and, after being deemed responsible for killing a leashed pet last month, may be exhibiting signs of distress," said the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The average lifespan of these large felines in the wild is around 10 years.</p>

<p>On Monday, Fish and Wildlife Department officers rang the bell at Sarah Picchi, a Los Feliz resident's house, &nbsp;and informed her "You have a lion in your back yard".</p>

<p>Talking to Los Angeles Times, Pichi revealed that the lion was tranquilised on Monday morning.</p>

<p>"As our drone hovered overhead we immediately recognized that this whale had been struck by a vessel due to the unnatural ‘S’ bend in the spine from the dorsal fin to her fluke," said the organisation, adding "In her current condition, she will not survive to make the return journey."</p>

<p>As per reports, over 15 billion credentials have been exposed to the dark web, and about 54 per cent of these led to credential theft. Passwords just aren't cutting it anymore.</p>

<p>This has led to a number of platforms, and service providers moving towards passwordless authentication. Now Google chrome has joined the foray.</p>

<p>With Google Chrome's new passwordless feature users will now be able to create passkeys to log into their android devices.</p>

<p>As per Venture Beat the "move toward passwordless authentication is a recognition of password-based security’s fundamental ineffectiveness."</p>

<p>Google in its announcement blog said that passkeys are a significantly safer replacement for passwords and other phishable authentication factors.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They cannot be reused, don't leak in server breaches, and protect users from phishing attacks. Passkeys are built on industry standards and work across different operating systems and browser ecosystems, and can be used for both websites and apps," it added.</p>

<p>It was reportedly captured from a car, the "zombie" people can be seen outside a store. In it, two women can be seen moving slowly, with their mouths hanging open, and arms flailing around. You can also see a man stooping so low that he's almost folded over, struggling to stand straight.</p>

<p>While the popular controversy theory is a zombie apocalypse, another theory is that people are high on drugs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Officials and beachgoers recently discovered the unknown object which may have been uncovered thanks to the two hurricanes that ripped through Florida recently; Hurricane Ian in September and Hurricane Nicole in November. A steady barrage of high tides and rough surf also played a role in the object's discovery.</p>

<p>Reportedly Hurricane Nicole was one of the most powerful storms to strike the United States in the past decade.</p>

<p>The mysterious object seems to be made of wood and metal and is a &nbsp;whopping 80 feet long, said officials as per the New York Times. Typically interesting finds like these are roped off to protect them, however in this case, as high tides continue to submerge the object, roping it off is not an option.</p>

<p>Kevin Captain, a spokesperson for the Volusia County government said that the state's underwater archaeological team has been notified to investigate the object further.</p>

<p>"It is a mystery," said Tamra Malphurs, a spokesperson for Volusia County Beach Safety.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Many people think it is an old ship of some sort," she added.</p>

<p>Talking to WKMG-TV she remarked "We haven't seen this kind of erosion in a very long time", adding that she's been a regular at the beach for about 25 years but that this is her first time seeing the object.</p>

<p>Theories circulating on social media and local news channels have some suggestions about what it could be; a shipwreck, a portion of an old pier, a boardwalk, a barrier or maybe even audience seating from back when NASCAR had races on the beaches.</p>

<p>In the past, too all sorts of mysterious objects have emerged from the sands of Florida beaches.</p>

<p>Just last year, in August 2021 a high school student found a 1715 Fleet gold coin near Turtle trail beach.&nbsp;In November 2020, a shipwreck dating back 200-plus years was also discovered after Tropical Storm Sta eroded the sand dunes in St Augustine.</p>

<p>"Every now and then, something pops up, and usually, you can tell what it is," said Malphurs adding "This one, you just can’t confirm."</p>

<p>In the latest "shock" to them, when the disgruntled employees showed up for work on Monday (November 5), they were greeted by the sight of "modest bedrooms featuring unmade mattresses, drab curtains and giant conference-room telepresence monitors", reports Forbes.</p>

<p>As per the latest reports, San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection has launched an investigation into the complaint that Musk has converted the company's headquarters.</p>

<p>"We need to make sure the building is being used as intended," said Patrick Hannan, the department's communications director adding that residential buildings, even those meant for short stays have "different building code requirements".</p>

<p>The first-of-its-kind survey on people's experience with violence and harassment at work has surprisingly revealed that sexual harassment while prevalent is not the most reported form of abuse in workplaces; psychological abuse takes the cake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The survey undertaken as a joint effort between International Labour Organization (ILO), Lloyd’s Register Foundation (LRF) and Gallup found that almost one in five people or 17.9 per cent have experienced psychological abuse and harassment in their workplace. This means that 583 million all over the world have experienced abuse such as insults, threats, bullying or intimidation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sexual harassment on the other hand was faced by one in fifteen or 6.3 per cent of people. Globally 205 million employees have faced unwanted sexual touching, comments, pictures, emails or sexual requests.</p>

<p>As with sexual abuse, women were found to have experienced higher incidences of psychological violence and harassment. However, the frequency of psychological abuse was higher for men.</p>

<p>Incidents of physical violence were also found to be prevalent. 277 million or 8.5 per cent have faced abuse in the form of hitting, restraining or spitting.<br />
While both genders faced it, men were more likely to have experienced it, they were also more likely to report the abuse.</p>

<p>"For instance, survey results show that young women were twice as likely as young men to have experienced sexual violence and harassment, and migrant women were almost twice as likely as nonmigrant women to report sexual violence and harassment."</p>

<p>As per ILO, this could be chalked up to due to a "fear of stigmatisation, lack of knowledge of reporting and monitoring systems, “normalisation” of violence and harassment, and re-victimisation or retaliation risks". The most common fears that discouraged people from talking about the abuse were "waste of time" and "fear for their reputation."</p>

<p>The report recommends that prevention mechanisms should be put in place; existing national and workplace mechanisms could be broadened or adapted to prevent abuse in the workplace. Additionally, it advocates increasing awareness of violence and harassment, enhancing the capability of institutions to deliver effective remedies, and supporting and establishing a right-based framework to help combat the problem.</p>

583 million people around the globe experienced psychological abuse at work: Report

<p>In an unusual incident, twin sisters married the same man in the western Indian state&nbsp;of Maharashtra. The incident came to light when the video of the wedding went viral on social media.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The wedding ceremony was held in Maharashtra's Solapur district on December 2, 2022. The twin sisters Rinky and Pinky who are IT professionals, from India’s financial capital city Mumbai agreed to marry Atul (the groom).&nbsp;</p>

<p>In fact, both their families agreed to the wedding and had no objection. The groom is into the travel agency business. Solapur district is approximately 400 km from Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Solapur Police has now registered a non-cognisable (NC) offence under section 494 of the Indian penal Code (IPC). The video that has gone viral on social media shows the names of the bride and the groom written at the place where the event was held.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the clipping from the Jaimala (Garland) ceremony, people can be seen cheering for the twin sisters who tried to garland the groom. The twin sisters attempted to garland Atul at the same time and failed in their first attempt. Then they put the jaimala on him one by one.&nbsp;</p>

The twin sisters Rinky and Pinky who are IT professionals, from India’s financial capital city Mumbai agreed to marry Atul (the groom). In fact, both their families agreed to the wedding and had no objection. The groom is into the travel agency business. Solapur district is approximately 400 km from Mumbai. Solapur Police has now registered a non-cognisable (NC) offence under section 494 of the Indian penal Code (IPC). <p>“I feel like the fact that 5 of President Biden’s Secret Service rental cars suddenly burst into flames in the Nantucket Airport parking lot less than 24 hours after they were returned should maybe be a slightly bigger story,” said one user on Twitter.</p>

<p>As per Forbes an investigation of the incident is underway. The current popular theory is that the fire began in a Ford Expedition, which has been under a safety recall since May because of a defective battery junction box known to cause fires.</p>

<p>However, as per the Daily Beast, the car company Hertz is investigating the fire. Anthony Guglielmi, a Secret Service spokesman said that they had no issues while driving the vehicles and that the cars were returned without incident.</p>

<p>A team of Canadian researchers claim to have discovered two new minerals from their analysis of the world's ninth-largest meteorite discovered in Somalia.</p>

<p>They indicate that a potential third new mineral might also be present in the 15-tonne meteorite that landed in east Africa, near the town of El Ali, in the Hiiraan region.</p>

<p>As per The Guardian, the meteorite dubbed "nightfall" by locals, and El Ali by western scientists was unearthed in 2020.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, locals claim that the extraterrestrial rock has been known to them for ages.</p>

<p>For classification purposes, a 70-gram slice of the iron-based meteorite was sent to the University of Alberta's meteorite collection. There Dr Chris Herd, the curator of the collection noticed "unusual" minerals in the rock.</p>

<p>The newly discovered minerals have been named elaliite, and elkinstantonite. The name 'elaliite' comes from the rock's location of El Ali town, while 'elkinstantonite', pays tribute to Lindy Elkins-Tanton, the principal investigator of Nasa’s upcoming Psyche mission that aims to send a spacecraft to a metal-rich asteroid.</p>

<p>“Lindy has done a lot of work on how the cores of planets form, how these iron-nickel cores form, and the closest analogue we have are iron meteorites. So it made sense to name a mineral after her and recognise her contributions to science,” Herd was quoted as saying by Guardian.</p>

<p>Herd who is a professor in the department of Earth and atmospheric sciences then asked a colleague Andrew Locock, the head of the university’s electron microprobe laboratory, to examine the sample.</p>

<p>It was Locock who determined that the meteorite contains two new minerals. The third potential mineral's confirmation is pending analysis.</p>

<p>"That was phenomenal," says Herd, adding that while in the 1980s similar minerals were created in the laboratory, this is the first time they've been recorded as appearing in nature.</p>

<p>He remarked that this could help ascertain how "nature's laboratory" works and that the minerals could have real-world uses. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The University of Alberta wanted to further examine the extraterrestrial rock, however, as per Herd, there are reports that it has been removed to China, where it may be put on the market. Meteorites have a niche in international markets where they are often brought and sold for very lucrative amounts.</p>
