<p>The drug, when tested on lab mice, showed the capability to inactivate sperm for up to two and a half hours. Its effects were also found to persist in the female&nbsp;reproductive tract. While after a period of three hours, "some sperm begin regaining motility; by 24 hours, nearly all sperm have recovered normal movement."</p>

<p>The fossil of this penguin and another species were discovered a few years back, between 2016 and 2017. They were among the 57 million-year-old beach boulders in North Otago, on New Zealand's South Island.</p>

Princeton student develops an app which can detect ChatGPT contribution in your 'writing'

<p>The internet is abuzz with mentions of Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) a.k.a., the green comet, which on Wednesday could be seen with the naked eye.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per NASA, the comet paid our planet a visit after a good 50,000 years. It was a rare feast for stargazers and astronomers alike as people around the globe witnessed the astronomical event.&nbsp;</p>

An international team of scientists has recovered five new “space rocks” from the desert of Antarctica, and one of them is almost 8kg (17 pounds).</p>

<p>What’s amazing about this discovery is that finding a meteorite this large is rare. As per EurekAlert of the almost 45,000 meteorites found here, only a hundred or so are of the size of this newly discovered meteorite or larger.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meteorites recovered by the team will now be analysed by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Science. Additionally, the four researchers will also be studying the meteorite's sediment that potentially contains tiny micrometeorites by the researchers at their respective universities.</p>

<p>Valdes says she’s eager to see what the analyses of the meteorites reveal, because "Studying meteorites helps us better understand our place in the universe,"&nbsp;adding that she was eager to find what the meteorites reveal.&nbsp;</p>

Earth 2.0: NASA's James Webb telescope discovers a nearly Earth-sized exoplanet

<p>Scientists have made an amazing discovery. In an inhospitable valley in the Chilean Patagonia, they have come across the remains of four species of dinosaurs. The fossils which were discovered and transported to a laboratory in 2021, as per researchers, belong to species that have previously not been identified in the area.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chilean Antarctic Institute (Inach), in collaboration with the University of Chile and the University of Texas, made this discovery on an expedition.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Talking to AFP, Marcelo Leppe, director of Inach, said, "It’s always super exciting in scientific terms to find something that has not previously been discovered or described."</p>

<p>Researchers have also found remains of two bird species, an Enantiornithe, believed to be the most plentiful birds of the Mesozoic era; and Ornithurinae, a group which can be directly linked to present-day birds.</p>

<p>As per the findings, the dinosaur species, which includes a megaraptor, inhabited the area at the end of the Cretaceous period, between 66 and 75 million years ago.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Interestingly, the megaraptor belongs to the theropod family, of which the famous T-Rex is also a member. These carnivorous dinosaurs were at the top of the food chain and were equipped with raptor claws, small teeth for tearing their prey, and large upper limbs.</p>

<p>Researchers have also identified two specimens of what could very well be a whole new species of Unenlagiinae, a dinosaur closely related to velociraptors.</p>

<p>As per Jared Amudeo, a researcher with the University of Chile, the Unenlagiinae remains has a "novel evolutionary character, which would indicate that this is a new species of unenlagine or perhaps a representative of a different clade (group)."</p>

Scientists have made an amazing discovery. In an inhospitable valley in the Chilean Patagonia, they have come across the remains of four species of dinosaurs. Chilean Antarctic Institute (Inach), in collaboration with the University of Chile and the University of Texas, made this discovery on an expedition. Talking to AFP, Marcelo Leppe, director of Inach, said, "It’s always super exciting in scientific terms to find something that has not previously been discovered or described." Interestingly, the megaraptor belongs to the theropod family, of which the famous T-Rex is also a member. These carnivorous dinosaurs were at the top of the food chain and were equipped with raptor claws, small teeth for tearing their prey, and large upper limbs. You would think that given that the very first evidence of dinosaurs was found in the early 1600s, we would know almost everything there is to know about them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, that's far from the truth: we are still finding surprising and fascinating discoveries that add to our knowledge. For example, a scientist recently spotted an extremely rare find that tells us more about what these beasts ate; this time it's a mammal on the menu.</p>

<p>In the first such find of the 21st century Hans Larsson, a professor of biology at McGill University’s Redpath Museum in Montreal while visiting a museum collection in China, spotted a mammal's foot preserved inside the fossilised guts of a Microraptor zhaoianus.</p>

<p>This is only the 21st known example of a fossilised dinosaur and its last meal. The fossil was discovered in the early 2000s in Liaoning in northeastern China.</p>

<p>The Microraptor zhaoianus was a small, up to three metres long feathered therapod, i.e. a small dinosaur that walked on two legs.</p>

<p>"At first, I couldn’t believe it. There was a tiny rodent-like mammal foot about a centimetre (0.4 inches) long perfectly preserved inside a Microraptor skeleton," said Larsson, as per a CNN report.</p>

<p>He added that finds like these are the only "solid evidence" researchers have about the food consumption of these long-extinct animals and that even these finds are very rare.</p>

<p>What makes the discovery so amazing is that previous fossilised specimens of the species showed proof of them consuming fish, birds and lizards. However, "this new find adds a small mammal to their diet, suggesting these dinosaurs were opportunistic and not picky eaters,” says Larrson.</p>

<p>As per the official, the total number of liquor bottles sold during the last week of 2022 stood at 11 million. Among the different kinds of liquors Delhiites purchased, various kinds of Whiskies topped the list.</p>

<p>Off this sale, the national capital's government earned $65.55 million or INR 560 crore, this includes excise duty and Value Added Tax (VAT).</p>

<p>This figure means that 2022 saw the best end year of the sale of liquor in three years.</p>

<p>In 2021 the total number of liquor bottles sold was 1.25 million (12.52 lakh). For 2020 the figure was 1.29 million (12.95 lakh), while 2019 saw the sale of 1.25 million (12.55 lakh) bottles.</p>

<p>As per an Asia Nikkei report, the financial support stands to be raised up to 1 million yen ($7,500) per child from the current 300,000 yen ($2,314).&nbsp;The programme which was launched in the year 2019, encourages families with children to move to areas with low, ageing populations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two Senegal lawmakers have been sentenced to six months each in prison for physically assaulting a female colleague in the nation's parliament last month.</p>

<p>In a December 1 bust-up, videos of which went viral on social media,&nbsp;opposition MPs Mamadou Niang and Massata Samb slapped and then kicked pro-government legislator Amy Ndiaye during a chaotic session of the parliament.</p>

<p>The proceedings over the assault case started on December 19th. In spite of video evidence to the contrary, the two MPs denied having hit Ndiaye. their legal teams also argued that given their status as lawmakers, they were immune from prosecution. However, this defence was rejected by the court.</p>

<p>While the prosecutors had sought a two-year sentence Niang and Samb were only given six-month sentences. Apart from the jail sentences the two legislators have also been handed 100,000 CFA francs ($160) and have been ordered to jointly pay five mn francs (approx $8,100) in damages.</p>

<p>Prosecutor Baboucar Cisse reported that his client was pregnant at the time of the scuffle. Following the incident where she was kicked in her belly, Ndiaye fainted and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A recent study conducted by the University Hospitals Connor Whole Health found that patients with cancer or sickle cell diseases receiving music therapy treatment showed less pain and anxiety, ANI reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The music therapists at UH Connor WHole Health conducted over 4,000 kinds of music therapies on nearly 1,500 patients over the course of 2,400 encounters at the UH Seidman Cancer Centre for this study.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This has been regarded as one of the largest examinations for music therapy in haematology and oncology to date.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During these sessions, the therapists provided patients with music listening, active music-making and songwriting practice for patients that helped them with pain management, anxiety reduction and self-expression.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As a part of clinical research, the therapists assessed their patients on a scale from zero to 10 at the beginning and end of the session and documented their sessions on an electronic health record.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The results of the study showed that patients with SCD and HemOnc groups showed a reduction in pain, anxiety and fatigue. Patients expressed their gratitude, joy and improvements in mood and pain.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A patient said, "It helps me release the everyday pressure and stress that is going on." He added, "I've had a lot of hard times, but this really gives me courage. You gave me a way to articulate my feelings."</p>

<p>As per researchers, northeast Siberia is home to the remains of the woolly mammoth, the woolly rhinoceros, other extinct species and...dormant ancient viruses.</p>

<p>The project is being carried out by Vector or Russia's State Research Centre of Virology and Biotechnology and as per Daily Mail, it aims to extract cellular material that contains viruses that killed the giant beasts and perform experiments on them in a lab.</p>

<p>However, there's concern that given the fact that the human bodies of today are strangers to these prehistoric 'paleoviruses' and if they were to jump the species barrier, the coronavirus pandemic may end up looking like the less deadly outbreak.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Given that the woolly mammoth were huge animals the size of today's elephants which are much larger than an average human, the viruses that killed them are definitely a cause of concern.</p>

<p>The scientific community too has raised the alarm. &nbsp;Jean-Michel Claverie, a professor of microbiology at the University of Aix-Marseille in France said that the Russian research "is terrible. I'm totally against it".</p>

<p>He added that it "is very, very risky. Our immune systems have never encountered these types of viruses. Some of them could be 200,000 or even 400,000 years old. But ancient viruses that infected animals or humans could still be infectious."</p>

<p>But the sad truth is that even without Vector's reawakening of the ancient viruses chances are something deadly will slip out of the Arctic's frozen waters sooner or later. As global warming slowly melts permafrost the global scientific community has already raised alarm over deadly diseases that may escape their "frozen prisons".</p>
