<p>Students crashing the car during practical driving tests is actually fairly common.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per a 2019 research by Group 1 Automotive, in the UK between 2014-2019, more than 3000 learners were in a vehicle collision during their practical driving tests. Between 2019 and 2019, another 695 crashed their vehicles during driving tests.</p>

<p>Since 2016, around 30 pedestrians have been hit by a moving vehicle engaged in a driving test.</p>

<p>Additionally, the report found that over five years, from 2017 to 2021, there was a 67 per cent increase in vehicle-on-vehicle collisions during practical driving tests in the UK.</p>

<p>It is not just the UK or Argentina, all over the world such accidents are very common.</p>

<p>Nothing can bring back the people we've lost. However, this technology tries to capture a part of their essence, which can help provide you with some semblance of comfort.</p>

<p>There are many startups offering the service. One such company called DeepBrain AI has a programme called "Rememory".</p>

<p>As per the AI firm's head of development, Joseph Murphy, they create a digital replica of the deceased using hours of video.</p>

<p>The company's "Rememory" programme&nbsp;adheres to a policy of not generating new content. This includes sentences or statements that the deceased individual would not have uttered or written during their lifetime.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I'll call it a niche part of our business. It's not a growth area for us," he said as per AFP.</p>

<p>Another company, StoryFile,&nbsp;follows the same idea.</p>

<p>The company's head, Stephen Smith, said, "Our approach is to capture the wonder of an individual, then use the AI tools."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It's a very fine ethical area that we're taking with great care," he added.&nbsp;StoryFile, claims several thousand users already use its Life service.</p>

<p>A few years back in 2015, Kyuda lost her best friend Roman to a tragic car accident. To deal with the grief, she developed a chatbot named 'Roman'. This chatbot was trained using thousands of text messages that her deceased friend had sent to loved ones.</p>

<p>After two years, Kyuda introduced Replika, a platform that provides highly advanced personalised conversational bots.</p>

<p>However, according to a spokesperson, Replika, unlike its predecessor Roman, "is not a platform made to recreate a lost loved one."</p>

<h2><strong>Is it only chatbots?</strong></h2>

<p>No. There are companies that are developing virtual clones.</p>

<p>One such company, Somnium Space, wants to create virtual clones of people while they are still alive. These clones would exist in a different world after the person passes away.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a YouTube video announcing his product, Live Forever, CEO Artur Sychov acknowledged that this concept "It's not for everyone". He acknowledged that individual choices are involved.</p>

<p>"Do I want to meet my grandfather who's in AI? I don't know. But those who want that will be able to."</p>

<h2><strong>The ethical challenges</strong></h2>

<p>Thanks to regenerative technology, these AI avatars can say things the person never said in real life.</p>

<p>According to Joseph Murphy from DeepBrainAI, "These are philosophical challenges, not technical challenges".</p>

<p>"I would say that is a line right now that we do not plan on crossing, but who knows what the future holds?" he added.</p>

<p>Candi Cann, a professor at Baylor University who is studying this topic in South Korea, suggests that interacting with an AI clone of a person can be helpful for achieving closure, especially in "complicated" situations.</p>

<p>"I think it can be helpful to interact with an AI version of a person in order to get closure&nbsp;— particularly in situations where grief was complicated by abuse or trauma," said Cann.</p>

<p>Mari Dias, a professor of medical psychology at Johnson &amp; Wales University, asked her bereaved patients about their thoughts on virtual contact with their deceased loved ones. She revealed, that the&nbsp;most common answer is 'I don't trust AI. I'm afraid it's going to say something I'm not going to accept'. They express concerns and a lack of trust in AI. They fear that the AI avatar might say something they cannot accept, and they feel they have no control over the avatar's actions.</p>

<p>An online fraud scheme run via WhatsApp link and a fraudulent app fuelled by a rumours promising substantial profits from buying virtual animals, like pigs, ducks etc., has cost hundreds of thousands of rupees to villagers in India's state of Bihar. As reported by Boom Decode, the scheme had lured people to invest&nbsp;in pigs and other livestock online through a game, with the expectation of high returns.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here's all you need to know:</p>

<h2><strong>How it all started</strong></h2>

<p>The origins of the online scam can be traced back to a WhatsApp message that circulated in Bihar, claiming that purchasing animals online could yield profits of up to thousands of rupees within a few months. The message propagated the idea that an online game called ‘Smile Rancher’ helped a middle-aged man win big by "investing" in the online purchase of livestock. As per the claims, the man won INR 20 lakh or $2 million.</p>

<h2><strong>The scheme</strong></h2>

<p>The report quotes an 18-year-old victim of the scheme,&nbsp;Suraj Kumar who revealed that people had to create an account by entering a six-digit password. Once that was done, they would find pictures of dozens of animals which they could buy.</p>

<p>After paying for the purchase, all they had to do was log in everyday and click on the animal. This would result in them getting paid a certain amount in the app's wallet.</p>

<p>"The most expensive was the peacock, which cost Rs 50,000. It would earn Rs 3,000 a day. Duck was the cheapest one which cost Rs 5,000 rupees, the app claimed to offer Rs 400 for it every day," said Kumar.</p>

<p>"One had to log in every day and click on the animal or bird that was bought. The earnings on the animals would come in the wallet of the account which was created in the app," he added.</p>

<h2><strong>Could this money be withdrawn?</strong></h2>

<p>Yes, but most times people would receive a server error.</p>

<p>The maximum limit for withdrawal from the application wallet was Rs&nbsp;3000,&nbsp;however, people who purchased and bred these virtual animals said they would very often get error messages on attempting to withdraw money.</p>

<p>However, some people successfully withdrew small amounts of money. This only helped give people false hope.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As the word spread, more individuals became interested in investing and many people borrowed money or sold assets to enter the market.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But one day the app just stopped working.</p>

<h2><strong>Who owns ‘Smile Rancher’ and why haven’t app stores like Google Play Store or Apple App Store taken any action?</strong></h2>

<p>As per transaction details accessed by Decode, the money people would spend on these virtual animals would go to the account of Sewing SKY India Pvt Limited — an unlisted company which according to the Indian Ministry of Corporate Affairs website deals in fabrics and is registered in Telangana Hyderabad and belongs to Gangadhar Pathri and Ajay Kumar Pathri.</p>

<p>Application stores like Google Play Store or the Apple AppStore have been unable to take any action because the application is not available on these platforms. People downloaded the application via a specific link shared on WhatsApp.</p>

<p>The app is now defunct.</p>

<h2><strong>Who sent them the message?</strong></h2>

<p>As per the villagers, a man called Bhishma Pratap&nbsp;spread these rumours. They say that Pratap claimed that his uncle was the one who won Rs 20,00,000 ($24,190).</p>

<p>For those interested in earning extra money, Pratap created a WhatsApp group named "Ranchers no. 1".&nbsp;As the admin of the group, he started adding more and more villagers, he then sent the forwarded application&nbsp;link to the group, which had more than 60 members. Pratap left the group the same day the application stopped working.</p>

<h2><strong>How did so many people fall for the scam?</strong></h2>

<p>The application called itself a "breeding management investment company from the United States."&nbsp;</p>

<p>It noted that was involved in "offline investment promotion for major breeding pastures and looking for investors who work part-time in the breeding industry".</p>

<p>It further claimed that after 2020, i.e., the pandemic, the company&nbsp;started doing its business online and started seeking people from all over the world to join the breeding industry and "make money together".</p>

<p>For residents of the small Bihar village of Maulanagar, this seemed like a good idea to earn some extra money. Most of the village residents belong to a socially marginalised community called the Musahars.</p>

<h2><strong>Has anyone filed a complaint?</strong></h2>

<p>Kasim Khan, a self-proclaimed victim of the scam, reportedly took action against the fraudulent company by filing a complaint with the Consumer Complaints Court on July 22nd 2022. In his complaint, Khan stated that he had invested Rs 55,000 in&nbsp;the scheme and attempted to withdraw the amount after two days, but was unsuccessful despite multiple attempts. He alleges that the company, Breeding Management, had now ceased operations and had deceived thousands of individuals through their online scam.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Was it just the one Bihar village that got duped?</strong></h2>

<p>Unfortunately no, the app has reportedly spread far from Bihar and has reached Assam.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The people of the small Bihar village got duped in February 2022, and in early July last year, a gym trainer in Guwahati Assam also received the link to that game. He and his colleagues invested in the app and lost thousands of rupees.</p>

An online fraud scheme run via WhatsApp link and a fraudulent app fuelled by a rumours promising substantial profits from buying virtual animals, like pigs, ducks etc., has cost hundreds of thousands of rupees to villagers in India's state of Bihar. As reported by Boom Decode, the scheme had lured people to invest in pigs and other livestock online through a game, with the expectation of high returns. Here's all you need to know: How it all started The origins of the online scam can be traced back to a WhatsApp message that circulated in Bihar, claiming that purchasing animals online could yield profits of up to thousands of rupees within a few months. The message propagated the idea that an online game called ‘Smile Rancher’ helped a middle-aged man win big by "investing" in the online purchase of livestock. As per the claims, the man won INR 20 lakh or $2 million. The scheme The report quotes an 18-year-old victim of the scheme, Suraj Kumar who revealed that people had to create an account by entering a six-digit password. Once that was done, they would find pictures of dozens of animals which they could buy. This would result in them getting paid a certain amount in the app's wallet. "The most expensive was the peacock, which cost Rs 50,000. It would earn Rs 3,000 a day. Duck was the cheapest one which cost Rs 5,000 rupees, the app claimed to offer Rs 400 for it every day," said Kumar. "One had to log in every day and click on the animal or bird that was bought. The earnings on the animals would come in the wallet of the account which was created in the app," he added. Could this money be withdrawn? Yes, but most times people would receive a server error. The maximum limit for withdrawal from the application wallet was Rs 3000, however, people who purchased and bred these virtual animals said they would very often get error messages on attempting to withdraw money. However, some people successfully withdrew small amounts of money. This only helped give people false hope. As the word spread, more individuals became interested in investing and many people borrowed money or sold assets to enter the market. But one day the app just stopped working. Who owns ‘Smile Rancher’ and why haven’t app stores like Google Play Store or Apple App Store taken any action? As per transaction details accessed by Decode, the money people would spend on these virtual animals would go to the account of Sewing SKY India Pvt Limited — an unlisted company which according to the Indian Ministry of Corporate Affairs website deals in fabrics and is registered in Telangana Hyderabad and belongs to Gangadhar Pathri and Ajay Kumar Pathri. Application stores like Google Play Store or the Apple AppStore have been unable to take any action because the application is not available on these platforms. As per the villagers, a man called Bhishma Pratap spread these rumours. They say that Pratap claimed that his uncle was the one who won Rs 20,00,000 ($24,190). For those interested in earning extra money, Pratap created a WhatsApp group named "Ranchers no. 1". As the admin of the group, he started adding more and more villagers, he then sent the forwarded application link to the group, which had more than 60 members. Pratap left the group the same day the application stopped working. How did so many people fall for the scam? The application called itself a "breeding management investment company from the United States." It noted that was involved in "offline investment promotion for major breeding pastures and looking for investors who work part-time in the breeding industry". It further claimed that after 2020, i.e., the pandemic, the company started doing its business online and started seeking people from all over the world to join the breeding industry and "make money together". For residents of the small Bihar village of Maulanagar, this seemed like a good idea to earn some extra money. Most of the village residents belong to a socially marginalised community called the Musahars. Has anyone filed a complaint? Kasim Khan, a self-proclaimed victim of the scam, reportedly took action against the fraudulent company by filing a complaint with the Consumer Complaints Court on July 22nd 2022. In his complaint, Khan stated that he had invested Rs 55,000 in the scheme and attempted to withdraw the amount after two days, but was unsuccessful despite multiple attempts. He alleges that the company, Breeding Management, had now ceased operations and had deceived thousands of individuals through their online scam. Was it just the one Bihar village that got duped? Unfortunately no, the app has reportedly spread far from Bihar and has reached Assam. The people of the small Bihar village got duped in February 2022, and in early July last year, a gym trainer in Guwahati Assam also received the link to that game. <p>According to the man, they had a drink together in his apartment, and he subsequently fell asleep.</p>

<p>Upon waking up at approximately noon, the man discovered that his safe had been opened, and both the woman and the jewellery stored inside were nowhere to be found.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Authorities have described the suspect as a woman in her mid-30s, standing between 5'08" and 5'10" in height, and weighing around 140 pounds.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Surveillance footage captured at the apartment building records the woman's arrival with the man and her subsequent departure from the premises.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Why is AI a concern now?</strong></h2>

<p>As per the Guardian, while earlier waves of "propaganda bots" relied on simple pre-written messages or "paid trolls", tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney hold the ability to produce realistic text, images, and even voice on command. This has raised concerns about interactive election interference on a large scale.</p>

<p>A study by NewsGuard, an organisation that monitors misinformation, tested ChatGPT and Google's Bard chatbot and found that they were capable of generating false news narratives when prompted. This highlights the potential for AI tools to mass-produce variations of fake stories, which raises concerns about the deliberate dissemination of false information.</p>

<p>On Friday, NewsGuard also announced that there has been a two-fold increase in AI-generated news and information websites, which have more than doubled to 125 in two weeks.</p>

<p>Earlier this week, on Tuesday, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and the creator of ChatGPT, warned that the latest generation of AI models has the potential to manipulate users.</p>

<p>Highlighting the need for regulation, public education, and transparency regarding the use of AI, he said, "The general ability of these models to manipulate and persuade, to provide one-on-one interactive disinformation is a significant area of concern."</p>

<p>"Regulation would be quite wise: people need to know if they’re talking to an AI, or if content that they’re looking at is generated or not. The ability to really model … to predict humans, I think is going to require a combination of companies doing the right thing, regulation and public education," he added.</p>

<h2><strong>AI-powered disinformation</strong></h2>

<p>Professor Michael Wooldridge of the Alan Turing Institute identified AI-powered disinformation as his primary concern about the technology. He noted that generative AI can generate disinformation on an "industrial scale".</p>

<p>"Right now in terms of my worries for AI, it is number one on the list. We have elections coming up in the UK and the US and we know social media is an incredibly powerful conduit for misinformation. But we now know that generative AI can produce disinformation on an industrial scale."&nbsp;</p>

<p>AI-generated imagery is another problem. Remember the pictures of Donald Trump getting arrested and the Pope in a 'dope' puffer jacket? That's the work of artificial intelligence.</p>

<p>Earlier this year, as these images went viral,&nbsp;many people&nbsp;raised concerns about the potential use of generated imagery to cause confusion and misinformation.</p>

<p>However, Sam Altman, while addressing US Senators, suggested that these concerns might be exaggerated or blown out of proportion. He compared AI-generated images to the earlier adoption of Photoshop.</p>

<p>He said that people eventually developed an understanding that images could be manipulated.</p>

<p>"Photoshop came on to the scene a long time ago and for a while people were really quite fooled by Photoshopped images – then pretty quickly developed an understanding that images might be Photoshopped."</p>

<p>However, in spite of Altman's statement, as AI capabilities advance, there are concerns that it is becoming&nbsp;increasingly difficult to trust things on social media and that as the technology develops further, the difficulty in differentiating between misinformation and purposeful disinformation will only increase.</p>

<p>In January, voice cloning gained significant attention when a manipulated video of US President Joe Biden surfaced. The original footage, in which he discussed sending tanks to Ukraine, was altered using voice simulation technology to make it appear as though he was attacking transgender people. The doctored video was widely circulated on social media platforms.</p>

<p>The growing availability of voice cloning services, including the cloning of corporate executives and public figures, raises concerns about its potential misuse.</p>

<p>Recorded Future, a US cybersecurity firm, warned that rogue actors could sell voice cloning services online.</p>

<p>Alexander Leslie, an analyst with the firm, said that the technology is improving and poses a heightened threat as the US presidential election approaches.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Without widespread education and awareness, this could become a real threat vector as we head into the presidential election," he said.</p>

<p>Steven Brill, the co-CEO of NewsGuard, expressed concern about the potential misuse of chatbot technology by malicious individuals to create varied versions of fake stories. He said, "the danger is someone using it deliberately to pump out these false narratives".</p>

WION Explains: Upcoming US, UK elections and the threat of AI-fuelled disinformation

<p>World's foremost public health agency, the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday, cautioned against using artificial intelligence (AI) for public healthcare. It said that the data used by AI to reach decisions could be biased or misused and advised caution while using the technology.</p>

<p>As per the WHO, risks must be examined carefully before using AI-generated large language model tools (LLMs) like "ChatGPT, Bard, Bert and many others" to protect and promote human well-being and protect public health.</p>

<p>The health agency said that while it was enthusiastic about the potential AI holds, it has concerns over how the technology will be used.</p>

<p>It said, "There is concern that caution that would normally be exercised for any new technology is not being exercised consistently with LLMs."</p>

<p>As per the WHO, the "precipitous" adoption of untested AI systems could lead to errors by healthcare workers, which could harm patients. This, it warned, could "cause harm to patients, erode trust in AI and thereby undermine (or delay) the potential long-term benefits and uses of such technologies around the world."</p>

<p>It&nbsp;further cautioned that artificial intelligence LLMs like ChatGPT and Bard that imitate understanding, processing, and producing human communication could be misused to "generate and disseminate highly convincing disinformation".&nbsp;</p>

<p>This disinformation, as per the WHO, can be in textual, audio or video form and would be difficult to differentiate from reliable health content for the public.</p>

<p>Reiterating the importance of applying ethical principles and appropriate governance, the World Health Organization specified six core principles it has identified as imperative while using AI in healthcare. These are: protect autonomy; promote human well-being, human safety, and the public interest; ensure transparency, explainability, and intelligibility; foster responsibility and accountability; ensure inclusiveness and equity; promote AI that is responsive and sustainable.</p>

<p>The health agency said that while it is committing to harnessing new technologies, including AI and digital health, towards the improvement of human health, it recommends that policymakers must ensure patient safety and protection.</p>

It said that the data used by AI to reach decisions could be biased or misused and advised caution while using the technology. As per the WHO, risks must be examined carefully before using AI-generated large language model tools (LLMs) like "ChatGPT, Bard, Bert and many others" to protect and promote human well-being and protect public health. The health agency said that while it was enthusiastic about the potential AI holds, it has concerns over how the technology will be used. It said, "There is concern that caution that would normally be exercised for any new technology is not being exercised consistently with LLMs." Also read | 'Raise alarm on AI threats', academics appeal to health professionals "This includes widespread adherence to key values of transparency, inclusion, public engagement, expert supervision, and rigorous evaluation." As per the WHO, the "precipitous" adoption of untested AI systems could lead to errors by healthcare workers, which could harm patients. This, it warned, could "cause harm to patients, erode trust in AI and thereby undermine (or delay) the potential long-term benefits and uses of such technologies around the world." It further cautioned that artificial intelligence LLMs like ChatGPT and Bard that imitate understanding, processing, and producing human communication could be misused to "generate and disseminate highly convincing disinformation". This disinformation, as per the WHO, can be in textual, audio or video form and would be difficult to differentiate from reliable health content for the public. These are: protect autonomy; promote human well-being, human safety, and the public interest; ensure transparency, explainability, and intelligibility; foster responsibility and accountability; ensure inclusiveness and equity; promote AI that is responsive and sustainable. The health agency said that while it is committing to harnessing new technologies, including AI and digital health, towards the improvement of human health, it recommends that policymakers must ensure patient safety and protection. <p>His campaign website says "Vote Meir (pronounced Mayor) for Mayor: This job has my name on it."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meir in his own words "has the vision that Toronto needs," and since at eighteen-year-old, he is the youngest candidate "So he's unlikely to die in office."</p>

<p>Voting begins on June 8th and will run till June 13th, while the election day is 26 June and there are a total of 102 registered mayoral candidates.</p>

<p>Among the election frontrunners is Olivia Chow, the third choice in the 2014 elections. Also in the race are former provincial lawmaker Mitzie Hunter, councillors Ana Bailão, Brad Bradford and Josh Matlow and former police chief Mark Saunders.</p>

We all know isolation can be emotionally taxing, which is why it has long been used as a form of punishment in jails. But can social isolation affect you mentally and impact your energy levels? New research shows that isolation affects your energy levels the same way as going without food does.</p>

<p>Researchers from the University of Vienna found that socially isolating for a period of eight hours has detrimental effects on a person. This long without company, a person's body experiences a fall in energy levels equivalent to the decrease that comes with starving for eight hours.</p>

<p>The research suggests that social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic may have had an unexpected energy toll on people.</p>

<p>Based on research carried out both in a laboratory setting and during the COVID-19 quarantine periods, the study suggests that social personality traits may also influence the individual's reaction to social isolation.</p>

<p>As per SciTechDaily, just as prolonged periods without food can lead to hunger, a lack of social interaction can lead to a craving response in the brain, driving us to seek social connections again.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is supported by the "social homeostasis" theory, which proposes that there is a homeostatic system in place to independently regulate our need for social interaction.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Although our understanding of the psychological reactions to social isolation remains limited, the study’s authors propose that lowered energy may be part of our homeostatic response to a lack of social contact and a potential precursor of the more detrimental effects of long-term social isolation.</p>

<p>The study involved 30 female volunteers who, on three separate days, spent eight hours in isolation without social contact, without food, or with both social contact and food. They reported their stress, mood, and fatigue levels multiple times throughout the day, while physiological stress responses such as heart rate and cortisol were recorded by the scientists.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Data from 87 participants who had spent at least an eight-hour period in isolation were used, and their stress and behavioural effects were assessed several times a day for seven days.</p>

<p>The results of the laboratory study led by Giorgia Silani from the University of Vienna showed similarities between social isolation and food deprivation, with both inducing lowered energy and heightened fatigue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"In the lab study, we found striking similarities between social isolation and food deprivation. Both states induced lowered energy and heightened fatigue, which is surprising given that food deprivation literally makes us lose energy, while social isolation would not", said first authors Ana Stijovic and Paul Forbes.</p>

<p>Sherri who works as a cardboard artist made Max his first mannequin out of cardboard. Now, Max has several professional ones and buyers for his designs include celebrities like Sharon Stone.<br />

<p>Max's drive for the designs, as per his mother, is the desire to help women feel beautiful.</p>

<p>"He wants women to feel beautiful and that's the drive behind it," she told People magazine adding, "He's never expressed any interest in wearing the dresses himself. He doesn't make men's wear. He really wants women of all sizes to feel beautiful."</p>

<p>To date, Max has sold more than a hundred of his designs internationally and has even held his fashion shows. As per his mother, he hopes to one day "be the head of the house of Gucci or he wants to have his own atelier, Couture to the Max Italian."</p>

<p>Microsoft has now expanded public access to its generative artificial intelligence programmes and the AI-enhanced features are now available for anyone to use without a waitlist.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a blog post published on Thursday, Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of Microsoft, announced that the features of the company's Bing search engine and Edge internet browser are now open for anyone to use.</p>

<p>"This means that it will now be easier than ever for everyone to try the new Bing and Edge by simply signing into Bing with your Microsoft account," he said.</p>

<p>According to him,&nbsp;the services have been enhanced with the ability to work with images as well as texts. In the future, Microsoft intends to add video features to the mix.</p>

<p>The executive said that a Bing "Image Creator" was recently integrated into Microsoft's AI chatbot's repertoire, which enables it to generate visual, as well as written content.&nbsp; Additionally, the company will be expanding Image Creator's capabilities so that users can use their native languages.</p>

<p>"We are expanding Image Creator to all languages in Bing," said Mehdi, adding, "So, now, you can create images in your native language."</p>

<p>However, Wong argues that this increase will make little difference for the low-paid workers in Hong Kong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Vivek Murthy, the United States surgeon general on Tuesday (May 2nd) released an advisory on loneliness and isolation, silent killers that are affecting thousands of people in the country.</p>

<p>He urged the people as well as public officials to treat the matter with the same urgency that is given to other serious conditions like drug abuse.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per Murthy, loneliness is affecting about half the people living in the US.</p>

<p>"Right now, millions of people are telling us through their stories and statistics that their tank is running on empty when it comes to social connection," he said, adding that it needs to be a public health priority.</p>

<p>In his advisory, Murthy says that while the issue has been there for decades, the pandemic has brought it to the forefront.&nbsp;The bomb has been ticking since the 1970s; people's attachment to their local community is on a decline.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Research produced by Gallup, Pew Research Centre, and the National Opinion Research Center’s General Social Survey demonstrates that since the 1970s, religious preference, affiliation, and participation among US adults have declined," says the advisory.</p>

<p>It further cites polls from the 1970s wherein 45 per cent of Americans said they can trust their fellow countrymen, by 2016, this number fell to 30 per cent.</p>

<p>The advisory suggests that some particular groups are more at risk than others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Studies find the highest prevalence of loneliness and isolation among people with&nbsp;poor physical or mental health, disabilities, financial insecurity, those who live alone, single parents, as well as younger and older populations."</p>

<p>Additionally, "individuals from ethnic and racial minority groups, LGBTQ+ individuals, rural residents, victims of domestic violence, and those who experience discrimination or marginalisation."</p>

<p>As per Murthy's advisory, "young&nbsp;adults are almost twice as likely to report feeling lonely than those over 65." Between 1976 and 2019, the rate of loneliness among young adults has increased every year.</p>

<p>One reason behind this influx in isolation and loneliness could be people's growing dependence on technology.</p>

<p>Americans on average spend six hours a day on digital media, and one in three said they are online "almost constantly."</p>

<p>The lack of connection, according to the Guardian report quoting the Kaiser Family Foundation, contributes to an increase in hospital visits and dementia. It also adds to a vicious cycle of anxiety and depression that one-third of US adults reported experiencing.</p>

<p>"Many of us felt lonely or isolated in a way we had never experienced before," Murthy's advisory says that while social connection had been declining for decades before COVID-19 but the pandemic exacerbated it.&nbsp;</p>

'Our epidemic of loneliness and isolation': US surgeon general points to the importance of social connection

<p>Mark Zuckerberg, famous for building arguably the most famous social media platform Facebook and the Metaverse, is now "building" dresses. Recently, the tech mogul took to Instagram to share pictures of 3D-printed dresses he made for his daughter.</p>

<p>The Facebook CEO posted pictures of his daughter wearing the 3D printed clothes with the caption, "I love building things and recently started designing and 3D printing dresses with the girls. A few projects from the last month."</p>

<p>He also revealed that for this special project, he learned to sew. "and yes, I had to learn to sew," he wrote.</p>

<p>In 2019, another American designer, Travis Fitch, also unveiled a collection of 3D-printed clothes.</p>

<p>Adidas too has launched shoes made using this technology. The company's Futurecraft 4D project creates shoes with a midsole created in partnership with Carbon 3D. These shoe midsoles are made using recycled plastic found in the ocean.</p>

<p>Not only this 3D printed jewellery is also a thing. According to Sculpteo, the technology is actually more sustainable than textiles as it "only need to use the amount of material that is needed to create your project."</p>

<p>Another day, another "peegate". A passenger aboard an American Airlines flight has been detained for allegedly urinating on his co-passenger. The man, as per reports, was inebriated and had gotten into an argument with a co-passenger. The incident happened on a New York to Delhi nonstop flight on Sunday evening.</p>

<p>The man was handed over to Delhi local police on April 23 for his "disruptive" behaviour.</p>

<p>"An allegedly inebriated passenger relieved himself on another passenger. American Airlines has recorded the statements of co-passengers and handed over the passenger to law enforcement agencies. An FIR has been lodged," said a senior DGCA official as per a TOI report.</p>

<p>However, conflicting versions of the alleged incident are emerging.</p>

<p>While the airline in its complaint to the local police and aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) alleged that a drunken passenger had urinated over a co-traveller, the Delhi Police said that statements from co-passengers failed to substantiate the allegations.</p>

<p>"The staff did not share who the accused urinated over or where did he do so in the aircraft. Passengers sitting near him also submitted in writing that they were not urinated over," said a senior Delhi police officer, as reported by the Hindu.</p>

<p>In a press statement, American Airlines said that a passenger was handed over to law enforcement following a "disruption on board". Citing an anonymous DGCA official, the Hindu also reported that the airline will be holding a further investigation into the matter as per internal procedures.</p>

<p>Over the past few months, multiple incidents of drunk passengers peeing or urinating on their fellow passengers have come to light. Just last month, a 20-year-old Delhi student was accused of urinating on a business class passenger on another American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi.</p>

<p>Before that, in November and December of last year, similar incidents were reported on Air India flights to India. In December, on an Air India-102 flight from New York to Delhi, a male flyer relieved himself on a female passenger. In December, a man on an Air India-142 flight from Paris to Delhi urinated on a vacant seat and the blanket of a fellow passenger.</p>

<p>Rob Kavalauskas, another person to witness the weather event, captured it. "I was riding my bike, I pulled over and started recording," he told CBS. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The waterspout touched down on the coast before it dissipated.</p>

As per an HT report, the pilot not only mistreated the cabin crew but also endangered the passengers with his actions.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India's aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently investigating the complaint filed by a member of the cabin crew.</p>

<p>The pilot allegedly wanted the cabin crew to make sure that the cockpit, a.k.a., the control centre for the aeroplane, appeared welcoming to his guest.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then the pilot against whom the complaint has been filed made demands for a seat upgrade for his friend and when that wasn't available asked for her to be seated in the cockpit. The guest was eventually seated in the first observer seat, which goes against&nbsp;DGCA safety norms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to DGCA's Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR): "An employee of the aircraft operator, who has the permission of the pilot-in-command (PIC) and whose duties are such that his/ her entry into the cockpit is necessary for the safe operation of the aircraft can only be allowed in the cockpit provided they have done the mandatory BA tests."</p>

<p>In Central China's Henan Province, two lions escaped their enclosure mid-performance, causing widespread panic among the audience. As per reports, the two lions are part of a circus in Luoyang, China. They escaped through an unlocked door. There were no casualties or injuries, as the breeder swiftly trapped the lions in a cage. However, the circus has been ordered to suspend its operations.</p>

<p>Talking to Global Times, an eyewitness claimed that the doorway of the enclosure where the lion's act was being performed was not securely closed, which led to the animals escaping.</p>

<p>According to World Health Organization, globally, more than 280 million people suffer from depression. However, as per estimates for two-thirds of them, the initial prescriptions for depression or anxiety may not work properly.</p>

<p>Genetika+, the company then analyses the patient's medical history and genetic data to determine the best drug and correct dosage for a doctor to prescribe.</p>

<p>As per a BBC report, the AI-based technology is still in development and is set to be launched commercially in 2024.</p>

<p>Dr Heba Sailem, senior lecturer of biomedical AI and data science at King's College London says that the potential for AI to transform the global pharmaceutical industry is huge.</p>
