Ukraine's defence minister said on Thursday it would take Russia at least a week to withdraw its troops from the southern city of Kherson and that winter would slow down operations on the battlefield, giving both sides a chance to recuperate.

In an interview in Kyiv, Oleksii Reznikov told Reuters Russia had a contingent of 40,000 troops in Kherson region and that intelligence showed its forces remained in the city, around the city and on the right bank of the vast Dnipro River.

"It's not that easy to withdraw these troops from Kherson in one day or two days. As a minimum, (it will take) one week," he said.

Russia said on Wednesday that its forces would retreat from the west bank of the Dnipro River, which includes Kherson, the only regional capital Moscow had captured since invading Ukraine in February.

Reznikov said that such an exit would free up forces from both sides to fight elsewhere. Ukraine, he said, had a security and defence force of 1 million personnel to guard a "non-friendly" 2,500-km border with Belarus, Russia and occupied Ukrainian areas.

He dismissed as "crazy" the idea that Russia might blow up the Kakhovka dam as it withdraws, saying it would flood areas controlled by Moscow.

"If you check the landscape in this district, you will find that the western bank is higher terrain and the east bank is lower terrain," he said.

"This means the water will flow east of this bank and they will have a risk for their troops," he said.

Both sides in the conflict have accused the other of planning to destroy the dam.

The mail sent on Friday confirmed the rumours that 50 per cent of the workers had lost their jobs.

However, there was still no statement from Musk. After 24 hours, Musk on November 5 tweeted that there is no choice as the company is losing over four million dollars per month.&nbsp;

Amid security concerns, Chinese officials in Pakistan to get bullet-proof vehicles, says report 

China's&nbsp;National Health Commission (NHC) on Saturday (November 5) revealed that 3,837 new Covid cases have been reported among which 657 are symptomatic and the remaining 3,180 asymptomatic.&nbsp;

A day prior to this, the Asian country recorded 4,045 new Covid cases of coronavirus infection, which marked a six-month high with 3,288 asymptomatic infections and the remaining 757 symptomatic ones.

The court hearing was on how the firm workers and agents gave bribes worth $27 million to a few unnamed officials in Nigeria, South Sudan, Ivory Coast and others creating harm valued at $128 million and £81 million at the time of the incident, the Guardian reported.&nbsp;

The European region has on&nbsp;average&nbsp;seen temperatures&nbsp;rise&nbsp;0.5 degrees Celsius each decade since 1991, the&nbsp;UN's World Meteorological Organization and the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service found in a joint report.

As a result, Alpine glaciers lost 30 metres (just under 100 feet) in ice thickness between 1997 and 2021, while the Greenland ice sheet is swiftly melting and contributing to accelerating sea level&nbsp;rise.

The report further cautioned that regardless of future levels of&nbsp;global&nbsp;warming, temperatures would likely continue to&nbsp;rise&nbsp;across&nbsp;Europe&nbsp;at a rate exceeding&nbsp;global&nbsp;mean&nbsp; temperature&nbsp;changes.

"Europe&nbsp;presents a live picture of a warming world and reminds us that even well-prepared societies are not safe from impacts of extreme weather events," WMO chief Petteri Taalas said in a statement.

WMO splits the world into six regions, with the European region covering 50 countries and including half of the swiftly warming Arctic, which is not a continent in its own right.

Within Antarctica -- which is a continent but falls outside the six WMO-defined regions -- only the West Antarctic Peninsula part is seeing rapid warming.

'Vulnerable'

The new report released ahead of the&nbsp;UN's 27th conference on climate set to open in Egypt on Sunday, examined the situation in&nbsp;Europe&nbsp;up to and including 2021.

It found that last year, high-impact weather and climate events -- mainly floods and storms -- led to hundreds of deaths, directly affected&nbsp;more&nbsp;than&nbsp;half a million people and caused economic damage across&nbsp;Europe&nbsp;exceeding $50 billion.

At the same time, the report highlighted some positives, including the success of many European countries in slashing greenhouse gas emissions.

Across the EU, such emissions decreased by nearly a third between 1990 and 2020, and the bloc has set a net 55-per cent reduction target for 2030.

It also hailed&nbsp;Europe's world-leading deployment of early warning systems, providing protection for about 75 percent of the population, and said its heat-health action plans had saved many lives.

"European society is vulnerable to climate variability and change," said&nbsp;Carlo Buontempo, head of Copernicus's European Centre of Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).

"But&nbsp;Europe&nbsp;is also at the forefront of the international effort to mitigate climate change and to develop innovative solutions to adapt to the new climate Europeans will have to live with."

Health concerns&nbsp;

Yet, the continent is facing formidable challenges.

"This year, like 2021, large parts of&nbsp;Europe&nbsp;have been affected by extensive heatwaves and drought, fuelling wildfires," Taalas said, also decrying "death and devastation" from last year's "exceptional floods".

And going forward, the report cautioned that regardless of the greenhouse gas emissions scenario, "the frequency and intensity of hot extremes... are projected to keep increasing."

While&nbsp;more&nbsp;than&nbsp;24 per cent of adults living in the European region suffer from such allergies, including severe asthma, the proportion among children is 30-40 per cent and rising, it said.

The warming climate is also causing&nbsp;more&nbsp;vector-borne diseases, with ticks moving into new areas bringing Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis.

Asian tiger mosquitos are also moving further north, carrying the risk of Zika, dengue and chikungunya, the report said.

It's been only a few days since the takeover, and the users are already in doubt about whether Musk will be able to do it or not. As per reports, many celebrities have said to leave Twitter after Musk's takeover. Former US president Trump said that Twitter is now in "sane hands."

'My car broke down': Search for excuses to skip work rose in 2022, companies concerned

In a major milestone for Indian academia, the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) generated more than Rs.1000cr ($120.8&nbsp;million) in funding, and revenue in the financial year 2021-22. This is the first time in the history of the institute that the figure is surpassing the Rs.1000 crore ($1.21&nbsp;billion)&nbsp;mark, this sum includes Rs.768cr&nbsp; ($ 92.7 million) from Government projects and Rs.313&nbsp;crore&nbsp;($37.8 million) (in Industry consultancy. Pakistan's foreign ministry reportedly confirmed the news of the release. In a statement, the ministry said, "We are glad that a Pakistani citizen detained abroad is finally reunited with his family." Paracha returned to Pakistan on October 29.&nbsp;

Two years after the 11 September 2001 attacks on the US, Paracha, now 75, was detained on suspicion of financing&nbsp;the terrorist group al-Qaeda. Although he was only suspected, Paracha always insisted on being innocent and was never charged.&nbsp;

Further adding, he said that Guantanamo is an embarrassment to the US. He said he still has four clients who are certified for release.&nbsp;

In a polarising mobilisation effort, the first since World War Two, Russia has finally announced an end to its 'partial mobilisation' for&nbsp;Ukraine.

The announcement comes after deploying over a quarter of the gathered&nbsp;soldiers to the front lines.

The process of mobilisation began in late September after the president in his televised address announced the need of deploying Russian soldiers to Ukraine for the fight.&nbsp;

Putin thanked reservists for their dedication to duty, patriotism and unwavering commitment to defend their country, Reuters reported.&nbsp;
