The Bank of Japan in its policy statement on Tuesday shocked markets by expanding its target band for interest rates, causing the yen to rise, bond yields to go up and stock prices to fall.&nbsp;

In its statement, the central bank said it will now allow yields on 10-year government bonds to move up or down on the basis of 50 basis points instead of 25 basis points around its 0 per cent objective, Nikkei Asia reported.&nbsp;

The BoJ Governor Haruhiko Kuroda told reporters, "This is neither a tightening nor a step toward an exit. This is a tweak to the monetary policy operation." He added that the changes are done responding to the changes in the market. "We did this to support the economy and will explain it to market players as much as necessary."

Bank's board decided to keep its main monetary policies unchanged.

Amid the tweaking of monetary policies, the yen soared to a four-month high against the dollar. The policy also comes after a decline in the US interest rates and market policies.&nbsp;

The move sent the yen to 132 per dollar making its strongest level since August.&nbsp;

The bank added that the policies were modified in order to improve the market functioning in the Asian country, encouraging a smoother yield cure formation.&nbsp;

The yield curve allows the bank to purchase Japanese government bonds with yields of zero and shirt term rates of minus 0.1 per cent.&nbsp;

The move also caused the benchmark Nikkei 225 average to fall y 2.5 per cent, raised the yen from a range of 137 to about 132 against the dollar, and spiked the yield in the 10-year JCB to 0.46 per cent.&nbsp;

Over the past several months, the pressure on the central bank to tighten the policy has decreased as the yield on the 10-year US Treasury has declined from 4.2 per cent to 3.4 per cent.&nbsp;

Japan's inflation is at a 40-year high with consumer prices increasing by 3.6 per cent in October which is far beyond BoJ's 2 per cent target.

Iranian authorities arrest lawyer of several jailed activists, journalists, say reports

Swedish media recently gave an update on the five chimpanzees that&nbsp;escaped their enclosure at Furuviksparken zoo.&nbsp;Three chimpanzees were shot dead, the fourth one is injured and the fifth one returned to the zoo on its own.&nbsp;Speaking to SVT, a police spokesman on Wednesday said, "They are very strong animals and absolutely not domestciated." Visitors and journalists present at the site were urged to get back to their cars, close their windows and go back home.&nbsp;

The zoo further urged residents to stay indoors, lock their doors and windows and avoid going out.&nbsp;

In a study published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B, the authors wrote, "Female genitalia are conspicuously overlooked in comparison to their male counterparts, limiting our understanding of sexual reproduction across vertebrate lineages."

The team dissected 10 snakes from nine different species including python and Mexican moccasin.&nbsp;

They found a snake with two individual clitorises-- hemiclitoris&nbsp;separated by tissue and hidden skin underside of its tail.&nbsp;

The new study suggests that clitorises may be common in squamates including snakes, and plays&nbsp;an essential role in reproduction. However, very few researches have been conducted on this for mammals including humans.

The new study comes following human research earlier this year that claimed that a human clitoris has between 1,100 to 9,850 nerve fibres which means 20 per cent more than what was cited earlier.&nbsp;

City leader John Lee told reporters on Tuesday that Google should ensure China's national anthem -- which the city's athletes compete under -- comes at the top of the search page.&nbsp;

"If any company is in anyway responsible, it has that moral obligation," he said.&nbsp;

Lee's comments came a day after&nbsp;Hong&nbsp;Kong's security chief Chris Tang said Google had refused to change the search results, something he said was an issue of "great regret".&nbsp;

According to Tang, a former police chief, Google said its search engine results were governed by an algorithm, not human input.

Both Tang and Lee have countered that Google has been willing to amend search results to abide by local laws, including privacy laws in the European Union.

Lee said his administration would reach out again to Google to pursue the matter.

Google has not yet responded to requests for comment.

China's national anthem is "March of the Volunteers", a rousing song born out of the Communist Party's struggle to liberate the country from Japanese occupation.

South Africa moves to decriminalise sex work after the justice ministry on Friday (Dec 9) proposed legislation that aims to tackle crime against women.&nbsp;The legislation is currently up for public comment. The Academy has been criticised for its big ties. The report also reveals that the academy has quid pro quo with food giants and owns stock in processed food companies like Nestle and Pepsico. It was also headed by former industry employees.

The US Academy has received contributions worth millions of dollars from producers. As per the report, it received $15 million between 2011-2017 from the producers. An additional $4 million were sent to the Academy's foundation.&nbsp;

Marion Nestle, a nutritionist in her 2002 books said&nbsp;that Academy's&nbsp;financial ties raise fundamental questions about "credibility. "

She said, "How can the Academy advise the public to avoid ultra-processed foods, for example, if it is funded by the makers of those foods?". "The issue of trust is critical to nutrition advising. The Academy looks like it represents the food industry, not the public interest."

Defending itself the Academy said that its an independent voice and a "trusted edcuational resource for consumers." It added that it provides information to over 110,000 dieticians in the country.&nbsp;

It denied doing anything wrong and said that the study contains factual errors and has finances 'out of context.'

The Academy in 2015 sent an email&nbsp;which revealed that not only it owned stock in ABoot but also received a sponsorship deal worth $300,000.&nbsp;

The mail also revealed an extension of the Academy's sponsorship deal with the National Dairy Council.&nbsp;

The year 2015, also called for controversy when the Academy allowed Kraft to put a "Kid's Eat Healthy" seal on the packaging.&nbsp;

Soon the product was criticised for its poor nutritional value and for containing other chemical products.&nbsp;

As per the rescue officials, the child is stuck at nearly 55 feet in the 400-feet deep well. The officials are pumping oxygen to the child but due to layers of mud, it's difficult for them to assess his&nbsp;condition.&nbsp;

The case was dropped in October due to misconduct by the jury. This is because after 12 days of testimony and five days of discussion in the trial,&nbsp;it was found that one of the jurors had brought in academic research papers looking at false accusations in the sexual assault case.&nbsp;

&nbsp;A court in Pakistan on Tuesday extended the remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Senator Azam Khan Swati till December 3 for his controversial tweets against senior army officials, The News International reported.

The court`s ruling comes after Azam Khan Swati was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cybercrime Wing on Sunday from his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad. Later, he was presented in court which ordered to keep him in physical remand for two days, as per The News International report.

Two&nbsp;Indian students died in the United States due to drowning.

The tragic incident took place on Saturday&nbsp;when both students went swimming at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.&nbsp;

As per the death reports,&nbsp;one student died due to drowning and the second one died in an attempt to save another from drowning. But unfortunately, both lost their lives.&nbsp;

The two were identified as Uthej Junta, 24 and Shiva Keliigari, 25. Both hailed from Telangana and were pursuing their master's degrees at St Louis University in Missouri.

The police statement said that on Saturday noon, first Kunta went swimming but when he did not return Kelliagri jumped to save him but failed to come back too.

The two had been staying at an Airbnb whose manager said that he and his daughters immediately called 911 after hearing cries for help. He further added that even his brother jumped in the water to save them but by the time he got to the kayak, the boys were already gone.&nbsp;

The police said that following a call at 2:20 pm, the rescue services recovered Kunta's body two hours after the incident took place, however, Kelligaris' body was recovered a day later, PTI reported.&nbsp;

After hearing about the incident, Telangana's Minister K T Rao in a tweet expressed his condolence to the families and said that his team would assist the families in getting back the body remains.&nbsp;
