India and Pakistan met each other for the first time, across formats, in over two years when they locked horns in match 4 of the Super 12 round, in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition in the UAE. The stakes were high for Babar Azam-led Pakistan as the Men in Green were trailing 12-0 in head-to-head versus Team India in World Cups (both ODIs and T20Is).

However, Pakistan produced a clinical performance to stun Virat Kohli-led India by ten wickets and register their maiden win over the Men in Blue in the WC history. Following the clash, things have gone out of control between some Indian and Pakistani cricketers on social media platform Twitter.&nbsp;

While Shoaib Akhtar-Harbhajan Singh were constantly sledging each other and were engaged in fun banters, Mohammed Amir tried to poke fun at Bhajji. Nonetheless, the matter soon escalated and things have gone out of control between the wily off-spinner and Pakistan's former speedster. Here's how the whole episode panned out:&nbsp;

I know it is cricket, but being hit for four sixes in Test cricket is a bit too much.)"

Harbhajan didn't stop and posted a glaring tweet in return. He reminded Amir of his fixing saga and said, "Lords mai no ball kaise ho gya tha ?? Kitna liya kisne diya ? Test cricket hai no ball kaise ho sakta hai ? Shame on u and ur other supporters for disgracing this beautiful game." (How did you bowl a no-ball in the 2010 Lord's Test. How much money did you take? Amir didn't hold back and once again tried to get under the skin of Bhajji with a sarcastic reply. The Indian spinner then retorted by saying, "For people like you &nbsp;@iamamirofficial only Paisa paisa paisa paisa .. na izzat na kuch aur sirf paisa..bataoge nahi apne desh walo ko aur supporters ko k kitna mila tha .. get lost I feel yuk talking to people like you for insulting this game and making people fool with ur acts. You troubled India in the Champions Trophy final and gave their batsmen a tough time in the Asia Cup as well,” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

He compared's Amir's remarks to that of Abdul Razzaq, who commented on Jasprit Bumrah.&nbsp;

“But such statements are made when players are about to face each other in an upcoming or an ongoing series. Neither are we going to have an India vs Pakistan series, nor are you going to bowl to Rohit Sharma. You’ve said something out of the blue, similar to what Abdul Razzaq had said about Jasprit Bumrah. So, it is fine if you want to be in the limelight by making such statements. I understand that a bowler likes to say such things, express himself by saying stuff like ‘he’s my bunny, I like to get him out’.”

“Rohit Sharma is a player who has scored so many double-centuries, and on top of that, he is a run-machine. There is hardly a player who plays spinners and fast bowlers better than him. Pakistan bowling coach Waqar Younis on Tuesday said he has moved on from the hurt caused by Muhammad Amir's Test retirement last year and considers the pacer a crucial part of the national team's plans going forward.

Having initially pulled out due to the birth of his second child, Amir made himself available for next month's T20 series against England on Monday. Waqar welcomed him back and touched upon the anger he felt at Amir's Test retirement ahead of a tour of Australia last year.

"Amir remains part of our plans for the future as he is experienced. We want to utilise him if he is up to the mark, if he can win matches for Pakistan. Next year we have the World Cup," Waqar said in an online media interaction.

"It hurt at that time when he decided to retire from Test cricket but we have to move on and do what is best for the country," he added.

Waqar defended the decision to call Amir to join the squad in England to replace Haris Rauf.

"We called Amir because he is part of our white ball cricket plans. And if we felt this was the ideal opportunity to assess all our bowlers going forward. It is not about this series but also about future commitments including the World Cups coming up," Waqar said in an online media interaction.

"We want to see how he is bowling as we want to get a fair idea of which bowlers to take forward and assess them all," he added.

"I can tell you whenever there is healthy competition among bowlers to do well in any team it is a blessing in disguise for that team. I see that same culture developing in the Pakistan team now," he said.

"It is a blessing for us that we have so many pace bowlers to pick from. But in the end we will give priority to those who are performing well," he added.

Waqar also rejected suggestions that it was difficult for a fast bowler to compete in all formats given the workload.

"I just look at this way if a bowler is fit, strong and loves taking wickets. He can play all the time. But I guess this is an individual decision," he said.

PCB said Rauf is asymptomatic and has been advised to self-quarantine for another 10 days.

"Why would he want to leave the group at this time when he needs advice on his fitness from the PCB trainers all the time," he said.

Hasan is said to be facing at least six to eight months out of the game as he waits for an expected surgery for his back problem.

However, left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz, who was also not given a central contract, has not left the group.

Misbah, along with PCB trainers, formed the group to keep in touch with all the players and given them online instructions on how to keep fit during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Amir, in particular, is said to be very unhappy with the way the board has treated him after he decided to retire from Test cricket last year.

Amir was one of three Pakistan players jailed for his part in a spot-fixing scandal against England the previous year, when he was only 18.

Early on, we were not really sharp enough and Sarfaraz Ahmed was not on his toes. Mohammad Amir didn't get any support from the other end,"&nbsp;Waqar said.

Returning his best ODI figures of 5/30, Amir staged a fine comeback to stop Australia's charge at 307.

"No-one really saw the comeback coming and for that, you have to take your hat off to Amir. Full marks to him for the way he bowled. Even with the new ball, I thought he bowled quite nicely. He could have picked up more than five wickets in the end. He was unfortunate with a couple of nicks early on," said Waqar.

"Pakistan pulled it back very nicely. They were sharp after 25 overs and started picking up wickets. They found the right lengths," he said.

"I thought instead of going to the ICC to prove its efficiency, the PCB should have instead directly taken the three players to task despite their denials and sent them back home on some pretext. They should have banned them for a year or so. In the end, by not doing this, the PCB spoilt the image of Pakistan cricket worldwide," Razzaq said.

Razzaq, 39, also claimed that Butt was deliberately getting out and playing dot balls much before the scandal broke out in England.

"I shared my concerns with Afridi but he said it is just my waham (misconception) and nothing is wrong. But when I was batting with Salman Butt during a match of the World T20 in West Indies, I was convinced he was letting down the team."

Razzaq recalled he told Butt to take a single and give him the strike but he did not pay heed to his advice.&nbsp;

"I was surprised when he refused this strategy. When I realised what he was up to (something) I told him strictly to give me the strike. Yet every over he deliberately played two or three balls and then gave me strike. I got upset and felt the pressure and got out."

Butt, Amir and Mohammad Asif were the three players eventually banned for a minimum of five years in early 2011 by the ICC's anti-corruption tribunal after they were first suspended in September 2010.

All three have now returned to playing cricket after completing their five-year bans.

Both the bowlers were not included in the initial World Cup squad announced last month but Amir, who is yet to recover from chickenpox, was named for the one-day series against England which Pakistan completed on Sunday.

The selectors have axed allrounder Faheem Ashraf and left-arm pacer Junaid Khan from their initial World Cup squad to make way for the two senior players.

The selectors had discarded Wahab from the tour to England but after the thrashing given to the Pakistani pacers in the one-day series they apparently had a change of mind.&nbsp;

Wahab, who turns 34 next month, last played a one-day international for his country in the opening match of the 2017 Champions Trophy against India going for 87 runs without a wicket and than limping off with a injury.&nbsp;

Since than the selectors have ignored him for 50-overs cricket while Amir also didn't feature in the series against England after contracting chickenpox and his form remains a concern after he took just five wickets in his last 14 ODIs since the Champions Trophy.

According to the cricket board, Amir has recovered from his chickenpox and he and Wahab will be available for the warm-up matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh this week.

In another major decision, the selectors have dropped young batsman Abid Ali from their World Cup squad to make way for the hard-hitting Asif Ali.&nbsp;

Ali was initially not part of the World Cup squad and went to England for the ODI series where he scored two half centuries.

"The lack of potency of our frontline bowlers in the recent ODI series meant that a change was needed. In addition, we now know that we will encounter batting wickets throughout the World Cup campaign," Chief Selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq said.

"The combination of these elements, meant that we believed right now, utilising the World Cup experience and knowledge of Wahab was the correct choice," he said.&nbsp;

"Wahab has been training and playing club cricket, and the player of his calibre will not face much problem in adapting and adjusting to the gruelling demands of the World Cup," Inzamam said.

On the exclusion of Abid Ali, Inzamam said: "It was not an easy decision to leave him out particularly after he got only one opportunity on the tour. But, he was our third choice opener. After both struck early form, we preferred Asif Ali as he brings firepower to the team that can strengthen our chances in the tournament," the Chief Selector said.

Abid, despite being a member of the initial World Cup squad, was given just one opportunity on the entire tour.

Inzamam said the final 15-member squad was announced in consultation with the captain and head coach.

Since than the selectors have ignored him for 50-overs cricket while Amir also didn't feature in the series against England after contracting chickenpox and his form remains a concern after he took just five wickets in his last 14 ODIs since the Champions Trophy. According to the cricket board, Amir has recovered from his chickenpox and he and Wahab will be available for the warm-up matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh this week. In another major decision, the selectors have dropped young batsman Abid Ali from their World Cup squad to make way for the hard-hitting Asif Ali. Ali was initially not part of the World Cup squad and went to England for the ODI series where he scored two half centuries. "The lack of potency of our frontline bowlers in the recent ODI series meant that a change was needed. In addition, we now know that we will encounter batting wickets throughout the World Cup campaign," Chief Selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq said. "The combination of these elements, meant that we believed right now, utilising the World Cup experience and knowledge of Wahab was the correct choice," he said. "Wahab has been training and playing club cricket, and the player of his calibre will not face much problem in adapting and adjusting to the gruelling demands of the World Cup," Inzamam said. On the exclusion of Abid Ali, Inzamam said: "It was not an easy decision to leave him out particularly after he got only one opportunity on the tour. But, he was our third choice opener. After both struck early form, we preferred Asif Ali as he brings firepower to the team that can strengthen our chances in the tournament," the Chief Selector said. Abid, despite being a member of the initial World Cup squad, was given just one opportunity on the entire tour. Inzamam said the final 15-member squad was announced in consultation with the captain and head coach.
