Author Emily Giffin apologises to Meghan Markle after receiving backlash from royal fans

<p>Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son Archie turned one on Wednesday. The royal family traditionally shares a birthday photo with the public on their official social media handles but Harry and Meghan went a step ahead and shared a birthday video instead.<br />
<br />
Shared on the Save The Children UK Instagram page, the video has Meghan reading out one of Archie's favourite books, 'Duck! Rabbit!' to the birthday boy who looks rather impatient to turn the pages much before his mother finishes reading it out aloud.&nbsp; The video has been shot by Prince Harry- who can be briefly heard making duck sounds to catch his toddler's attention.</p>

<p>The first court hearing in a privacy case brought by Meghan, Britain`s Duchess of Sussex, against a tabloid newspaper for printing part of one of her letters takes place at London`s High Court on Friday.<br />
<br />
Meghan, the wife of Queen Elizabeth`s grandson Prince Harry, is suing publisher Associated Newspapers over articles its Mail on Sunday newspaper printed in February last year which were based on a letter she had sent to her father, Thomas Markle.<br />
<br />
Lawyers for the duchess say its publication was a misuse of private information and breached her copyright. They are seeking aggravated damages from the paper.<br />
<br />
Meghan and her father fell out on the eve of her glitzy, pomp-laden wedding to Harry in May 2018.<br />
<br />
Markle pulled out days beforehand after undergoing heart surgery and following news he had staged photos with a paparazzi photographer, and speculation about his attendance dominated the build-up to the ceremony.<br />
<br />
Documents from her lawyers this week accused the Mail and other tabloids of harassing, humiliating and manipulating Markle, and contributing towards the fallout between father and daughter.<br />
<br />
They argue the Mail had also misquoted from the letter, which was never intended to be made public, to paint the royals in a poor light.<br />
<br />
The Mail says unnamed friends of Meghan had put her version of events in interviews with the U.S. magazine People and that Markle had the right to put his side.<br />
<br />
The paper`s lawyers also argue that given Meghan`s royal status, there was a legitimate public interest in her personal and family relationships.<br />
<br />
Friday`s hearing, which will be held remotely because of Britain`s coronavirus lockdown, is the start of the court action and no witnesses will take part. No date has been set yet for the full trial.<br />
<br />
In the papers submitted by Meghan`s lawyers this week were details of text messages sent by Harry to his future father-in-law, pleading with him not to talk to the press and to call him and his daughter.<br />
<br />
The duchess missed a call from Markle at 4.57 a.m. on the morning of the wedding and she has not received any calls or messages from him since then, the court papers added.<br />
<br />
The legal action is the latest step in growing hostility between the media and the couple, who are now living in the Los Angeles area having stepped down from their royal roles at the end of last month.<br />
<br />
This week the royals announced they would have "zero engagement" with four of Britain`s top tabloids, accusing them of false and invasive coverage.<br />
<br />
That statement brought anger and derision from many newspapers which accused them of egotism and questionable timing by making the announcement during the COVID-19 crisis.</p>

Meghan Markle's real name & official job title revealed on Archie’s birth certificate

<p>Every starry-eyed ingenue arriving in Los Angeles faces the same question: how to catch that big break in Hollywood? For Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, it's far more complicated.<br />
<br />
The pair, who formally <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/meghan-markle-prince-harry-thank-fans-for-support-in-last-instagram-post-from-official-account-289704">stepped down as senior members</a> of the British royal family this week, have reportedly already relocated to sunny California.<br />
<br />
They are currently rumored to be hunkering down at a compound in Malibu, the exclusive beach community outside Los Angeles long favored by A-listers and movie moguls.<br />
<br />
But how the couple will achieve their ambition of forging a new, "financially independent" life remains to be seen.<br />
Meghan's options would appear to be more straightforward.<br />
<br />
It is a homecoming of sorts -- she grew up in Los Angeles, her mother still lives here, and she has extensive contacts from her days as an actress.<br />
<br />
"I think Meghan will continue to work in the entertainment world one way or another," said celebrity branding expert Jeetendr Sehdev.<br />
<br />
"It's their unique selling point -- Meghan, at the end of the day, has come from the entertainment industry. They don't want to be denying that DNA."<br />
<br />
While Sehdev thinks it is "unlikely" she will go back into acting, Meghan "might present documentaries, she might do more voiceover work."<br />
<br />
Before she left Britain, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood-news-meghan-markle-makes-hollywood-comeback-with-disneys-elephant-288858">Meghan had already narrated a wildlife documentary for Disney</a> -- a company that her royal background could make her uniquely suited to.<br />
<br />
"The fact that she was a princess -- people do like that idea," said Los Angeles-based producer and journalist Simon Thompson.<br />
<br />
"Even though they're no longer part of the royal family, people will still put that brand on her -- she's ideal for alignment with things like Disney."<br />
<br />
Other entertainment giants including Netflix have already voiced interest in working with her.<br />
<br />

Every starry-eyed ingenue arriving in Los Angeles faces the same question: how to catch that big break in Hollywood? For Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, it's far more complicated.

Every starry-eyed ingenue arriving in Los Angeles faces the same question: how to catch that big break in Hollywood? For Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, it's far more complicated. The pair, who formally stepped down as senior members of the British royal family this week, have reportedly already relocated to sunny California. They are currently rumored to be hunkering down at a compound in Malibu, the exclusive beach community outside Los Angeles long favored by A-listers and movie moguls. But how the couple will achieve their ambition of forging a new, "financially independent" life remains to be seen. Meghan's options would appear to be more straightforward. It is a homecoming of sorts -- she grew up in Los Angeles, her mother still lives here, and she has extensive contacts from her days as an actress. "I think Meghan will continue to work in the entertainment world one way or another," said celebrity branding expert Jeetendr Sehdev. "It's their unique selling point -- Meghan, at the end of the day, has come from the entertainment industry. They don't want to be denying that DNA." While Sehdev thinks it is "unlikely" she will go back into acting, Meghan "might present documentaries, she might do more voiceover work." Before she left Britain, Meghan had already narrated a wildlife documentary for Disney -- a company that her royal background could make her uniquely suited to. "The fact that she was a princess -- people do like that idea," said Los Angeles-based producer and journalist Simon Thompson. "Even though they're no longer part of the royal family, people will still put that brand on her -- she's ideal for alignment with things like Disney." Other entertainment giants including Netflix have already voiced interest in working with her. But if she were to act again, Meghan will likely be wary of "stunt casting" and need to be selective in picking more substantive roles, Thompson added. "I think she'll get some big offers," he said. It was a bright blue day for Meghan Markle as she stepped out for her last set of royal duties in the UK before finally stepping down and starting an independent life with husband Prince Harry. In her first official public appearance since Megxit in the UK, Meghan showed up in an electric blue dress that fit her snugly and showed off her fit and healthy body as she kept it neat with slick hair in a low pony, neutral colours in makeup and stilettos that matched her husband’s suit colour. If latest reports are anything to go by, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been barred from using the titled 'Sussex Royals' from now on. The couple had started building the brand just last year after they moved out of Kensington Palace, which they shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton and launched their separate Instagram page 'The Sussex Royals'.
