While every single Guardian gets their moment in the spotlight, it is above all Rocket's movie. We have been given hints earlier that however upbeat he may sound and act, the intelligent anthropomorphic raccoon has had a dark past. That past plays out in considerable detail through random flashbacks throughout the movie.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I firmly believe GotG 3 is the darkest MCU has ever been. Sure, watching half of &nbsp;Tony Stark's body burned up to crisp was heart-wrenching, but have you seen an animal being tortured by a sadistic megalomaniac who is egoistic enough to think he can "perfect" naturally evolved life-forms?</p>

<p>But I am getting ahead of here. As GotG 3 begins, we see Chris Pratt's Peter Quill aka Star-Lord still moping about the lack of Gamora (Zoe Saldana) in his life. The older one who loved him is dead, and the newer one who was brought back from the past has not gone through that journey with him and couldn't care less about him. He spends his time whining while in drunken haze. Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) has grown up into a size that is comparable to the original Groot. He is also nicer than the bratty teenager he was earlier. Nebula (Karen Gillan) is also nicer, but due to her very nature, retains that edge. Mantis (Pom Klementieff) also has an edge now and for an empath, not much patience. Drax is the same-old sweetie under a tough (literally and figuratively) exterior.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Guardians have situated themselves at Knowhere. Suddenly, they are attacked by Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) and Rocket and although the attack is repelled, Rocket gets grievously injured. They figure out there is a kill switch inside his body and he may have only 48 hours to live. The only way to save him is to find an override by infiltrating the headquarters of High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), the aforementioned sadistic megalomaniac who turned Rocket into what he is.</p>

<p>High Evolutionary is a suitably vicious Big Bad with motivations sort of similar to Thanos. While the Mad Titan had Malthusian beliefs that overpopulation is the root of misery, the High Evolutionary is a mad scientist who wants to create a utopia populated by beings without flaws. To that effect, he has been experimenting on animals and other beings to create hybrids who, as he sees it, would be the apogee of existence. The scenes involving him and other creatures will break the heart of everyone who loves animals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While Iwuji is in fine form and delivers an intense, charismatic performance, the character itself is nothing to write home about. Still, I deeply enjoyed Iwuji's scenes, and he manages to instill a lot into the character beyond what is on the paper. He has a savagery that he desperately keeps bottled in, but it inevitably comes out.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I liked Poulter's Warlock as a nearly all-powerful man with a kid's mind. He will obviously come to play a larger role later, but in GotG 3, he appears and then disappears for a few scenes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The action in GotG 3 is great. There is a hallway scene that plays out in slow-motion, and it is up there with the best action scenes in MCU.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite some minor flaws GotG 3 is an excellent conclusion to the trilogy. Even its hefty runtime did not feel at all lengthy since the film is plot-heavy. It is a thrilling and heartfelt adventure that is well worth your time.<br />

<p>Director James Gunn is sharing the qualities that he wants in his new Superman. Gunn, DC Studios’ new co-CEO, has been busy lately promoting his <em>Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3,&nbsp;</em>starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, and Dave Bautista, among others. However, after concluding his work in his Marvel film, the director will shift his entire focus to his upcoming reboot, <em>Superman: Legacy</em>, and will again begin his search for a new superhero.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the director isn't sharing any big updates about the actors, who he may have considered for the role, recently&nbsp;James shared the traits he wants to see in his version of Superman.</p>

<p>Talking about the qualities he wants to see in Clark Kent, James&nbsp;said, “The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he’s also an alien.”</p>

<p>Freddy, who is bullied at school, befriends a new girl named Anne and shows off his superhero persona. However, Hespera and Kalypso steal Freddy's powers using the staff and reveal that they want revenge because the Wizard killed Atlas. They kidnap Freddy and put a dome around the city, trapping the family and its residents. The family goes to Rock of Eternity, where they encounter a magic sentient pen and use it to draft a letter to Hespera calling for a deal. Billy meets Hespera. The family fights Hespera and Kalypso, who takes Pedro's powers using the staff.</p>

<p>Hespera is defeated and brought to their lair, where she breaks free and finds the golden apple, the seed of life. They eventually approach him and begin by saying they are offering him a membership of "Justice..." but before they can finish, Billy says he agrees assuming it is Justice League. But they clarify they meant Justice Society of America. Shazam is confused, wondering, rightly, why there are two teams with 'Justice' in their name. He asks it to be renamed, eventually settling on The Avengers League.</p>

Real name Thaddeus Sivana, he was a brilliant scientist who was obsessed with finding a way to enter the mystical realm known as the Rock of Eternity since he was a child. During a visit to the Rock of Eternity, Sivana is rejected by the ancient wizard Shazam, who deems him unworthy of the power that he possesses. This rejection drives Sivana to become consumed with the desire to obtain Shazam's power at any cost.</p>

Shazam Fury of the Gods: How those post-credits scenes tease DCU's future

<p>It appears actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck is truly done with DC, at least after the upcoming movie, <em>The Flash</em>, in which he has a cameo. Affleck played the role of a grizzled Bruce Wayne or Batman in what was informally called DCEU (or DC Extended Universe) movies. After DCEU was soft-rebooted in the wake of <em>Justice League</em>'s debacle, it was rumoured that he might return. But now that the DC film universe has once again suffered a reboot under James Gunn, Affleck has made it clear he is done with DC movies. He, however, sent his best wishes to Gunn. &nbsp;</p>

<p>While the Marvel Cinematic Universe started with 2008's summer release of Jon Favreau's Iron Man, the DCEU's beginning came half a decade later in 2013 with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, and it has only played catchup since then. Starring Robert Downey Jr in the role, Iron Man was a runaway hit. The superhero was not well-known, and frankly neither were the Avengers that came later for the general audiences (who were not comic book readers). But Marvel Studios, with Kevin Feige at the helm, had trust in themselves and the cast (even Robert Downey Jr, who was pretty much persona non grata back then due to his substance abuse issues and run-ins with the law) and crew that paid off.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The challenge in front of 'Iron Man' was also 'The Dark Knight', Christopher Nolan's grownup-oriented The Dark Knight&nbsp;was more of a crime thriller than a full-fledged superhero pic. But the Dark Knight trilogy, featuring Christian Bale in the role, was its own self-contained universe. And it was not until 'Man of Steel' that DC really looked into building a cinematic universe.</p>

But the film was poorly received, and Snyder's gloomier Superman was rejected by fans. The film was a decent commercial success and received mixed critical reviews. <p>Zazie Beetz, who played the role of Sophie Dumond, is also reportedly being eyed to reprise her role. She spoke to THR about the project and said it makes 'wonderful' sense for the film to be a musical.&nbsp;</p>
