The Delhi police said that they had detained around 60 people for not taking prior permission for the protest, reported news agency PTI. The demonstration was held by the CPI (ML)-backed All India Students Association (AISA) and other student organisations.

According to PTI, the protesters, most of them students and teachers from Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University, took to Jantar Mantar and started raising slogans ‘Justice for Palestine,’ and ‘Gaza we are with you.’

“We are holding a demonstration and demanding diplomatic support for Palestine and actions against Israel, for violating human rights,” said Hemant, one of the demonstrators, as quoted by the news agency.&nbsp;

Subsequently, the Delhi police rounded the protesters up in buses and took them to an undisclosed location. The AISA has since released a statement demanding their release.&nbsp;

The CPI (ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya also visited the Palestine Embassy to express solidarity on behalf of the Indian people, in New Delhi, on Monday.

&nbsp;“We came here to express our solidarity on behalf of (the) Indian people. Right now, we all know whatever happened on the 7th of October but it has not stopped there. Right now what is happening in Gaza is nothing short of a very openly declared genocide,” Bhattacharya told ANI.&nbsp;

Adnan Abu al Haija, Ambassador of Palestine in New Delhi following his meeting with some leaders of the opposition, including a few Members of Parliament (MP) told ANI, “We discussed the situation in Gaza and in Palestine in general and they presented their solidarity with the Palestinian people…”&nbsp;

He added, “We hope India will play a good role in stopping the siege on our people of Gaza and putting pressure on the Israeli government for humanitarian aid to our people in Gaza…”

Since the incumbent PM took office New Delhi has moved closer to Israel despite historically backing the Palestinian cause which is partly thanks to the Netanyahu government.

However, opposition parties in New Delhi including the Indian National Congress (INC) or Congress party reiterated their support for Palestinians in a <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/indias-congress-party-extends-support-for-palestinians-amid-hamas-attack-on-israel-calls-for-ceasefire-644564">recent resolution</a> passed a week ago.&nbsp;

On Thursday, (Oct 12) the Indian foreign ministry condemned the attack by Hamas&nbsp;in Israel as a "terrorist attack" and reiterated its longstanding position for an independent Palestine.

Amid soaring tensions in West Asia, the United States has put about 2,000 troops on prepare-to-deploy orders for possible support to Israel, the Associated Press reported on Monday citing a defence official.&nbsp;

The readiness appeared to be in anticipation of an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza, which is aimed at rescuing hostages taken during the Oct 7 attack by Hamas and crushing the militant group that rules the enclave.&nbsp;

But the US-based media outlets cited the official as further saying that the troops are not being sent anywhere yet, nor would they necessarily go to Israel or Gaza.&nbsp;

The report added the US soldiers would not be sent to Israel but could be assigned to other countries so that they help with&nbsp;medical assistance and other humanitarian services.&nbsp;

On being asked if he could foresee US troops joining the war, Biden said, "I don't think that's necessary. Israel has one of the finest fighting forces in the country. I guarantee we're gonna provide them everything they need."&nbsp;

The United States has already deployed two aircraft carriers to the eastern Mediterranean in a powerful show of support for Israel.&nbsp;

He also accused the Colombian president of “expressing support for the atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists, fuelling anti-Semitism, affecting the representatives of the State of Israel and threatening the peace of the Jewish community in Colombia.”&nbsp;

In response to Haitai’s statement, Petro said his country does not support “genocide,” adding that if they had to, Colombia would “suspend foreign relations with Israel.”

Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved family, Yousef Hannon, another uncle of the victim, claimed that the suspect 71-year-old Joseph Czuba was very friendly with the little boy and his family.

Talking to the BBC, he stated that Czuba "brought him (Wadea al-Fayoume) gifts, he brought him some toys."

<h2>Overflowing grief</h2>

In Illinois, United States, hundreds of people came together to pay their last respects to six-year-old Wadea al-Fayoume, who on Sunday was attacked in his home.

The Monday funeral saw the Mosque Foundation in the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview overflow with people, with some paying their respects on the pavement outside.

Mourners, as per BBC, came from all over the area to express their anger and grief. Among them, some voiced their concerns about other Muslim children.

Talking to BBC, a mother of three said: "I'm shocked, but I'm not surprised."

<h2>The attack and the motive</h2>

As per the police, the little boy was attacked because he was Muslim.&nbsp;

In a court filing, Assistant State's Attorney Michael Fitzgerald alleged that Czuba, who was the landlord to the Muslim family, was angry at the little boy's mother "for what was going on in Jerusalem."

"She responded to him, 'Let's pray for peace,'" wrote the prosecutors.&nbsp;

"Czuba then attacked her with a knife," they added.

They claim that the landlord grew paranoid about the presence of the Palestinian-American family in his house.&nbsp;

The child was stabbed 26 times with a military-style knife, reports Al Jazeera. The mother too suffered a dozen stab wounds, but she is expected to survive the senseless crime.

"I'm hurt because it taints the education that my mother gave me," he continued.&nbsp;

"Some said that I laughed during this minute of silence because I was making fun of the death of a teacher, you should know that my mother has worked in National Education for 20 years and I have enormous respect for these people.

"This could have happened to my mother. It bothers me because it reflects an image which is not mine.

The ByteDance-owned company also said that it has removed 500,000 videos and closed 8,000 live streams in the region.

"We are also deeply saddened by the intensifying humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza. Our hearts break for everyone who has been affected," added the popular video app.

TikTok said that it has launched a command centre to monitor content about the latest conflict. The company, as per The Guardian, has also updated its automated detection systems to look for graphic and violent content.&nbsp;

On Thursday (Oct 12) the European Union warned TikTok about the surge of disinformation and gave the social media platform a 24-hour ultimatum to provide details of the measures it will take to counter this spread of misinformation.

TikTok 'stands against terrorism,' launches measures to control misinformation amid Israel-Hamas war

At least one person was killed and three others were injured after Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah launched missiles at a northern Israeli border village on Sunday (Oct 15), said the Israeli medics. The Shiite militant group backed by Iran later confirmed its role in the anti-tank guided missile attacks which reportedly began in the morning.

<h2>Attacks in northern Israel</h2>

According to Israeli media, Hezbollah launched at least five anti-tank guided missiles at the northern town of Shtula, a farming community, which is opposite the Lebanese community of Ayta a-Shab.

The strike has since prompted the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) to respond with countermeasures against targets in Lebanon and declared a zone within four kilometres of the Lebanese border off-limits to public access saying that it is “isolating the area”.&nbsp;

“The IDF stresses that entering the area is strictly prohibited and asks the public to be vigilant and not enter the area,” said the Israeli army in a statement.

Israeli residents in Manara, Yiftah, Margaliot, and Ramot Naftali were ordered to remain in bomb shelters until further notice following the recent attack, reported Times of Israel.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Iran-backed militant group said that it struck Israel in&nbsp;retaliation for separate "Israeli aggressions" that killed two civilians and struck a group of journalists, killing a Reuters videographer and wounding at least six others.&nbsp;

The IDF also reported that a second missile targeted a nearby military post.&nbsp;

Subsequently, a third missile was fired at a group of Israeli troops operating on the Lebanon border, said the IDF. However,&nbsp;the Iran-backed group said that the third missile attack targeted an Israeli tank.

A fourth and fifth attack was also reported by the IDF which said that their military posts near Lebanon came under fire due to these anti-tank guided missiles.&nbsp;

In an update, the IDF also said that nine rockets were&nbsp;fired from Lebanon out of which the Israeli military's <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/israel-shielding-skies-with-iron-dome-defence-system-what-is-it-and-how-does-it-work-643921">Iron Dome system</a>&nbsp;intercepted five&nbsp;rockets. "IDF is currently striking the launch site in Lebanon," it added.&nbsp;

This comes amid fears that a second front could open up as Israel is in the midst of preparing for a ground operation in Gaza against the Palestinian militant group Hamas over a week after it launched a surprise attack in southern Israel which has led to more than 1,300 deaths in &nbsp;Israel and over 2,300 in Gaza.&nbsp;

<h2>About the victims&nbsp;</h2>

The Israeli Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics informed that a man in his 40s was dead at the scene in Shtula after the Hezbollah attack on Sunday morning.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, three more men in their 40s – two in moderate condition and one in good condition – were taken to the hospital.&nbsp;

<h2>'Not interested': Israel about war on border with Lebanon</h2>

Following the recent attacks from Lebanon, Israeli&nbsp;Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said that Israel is not interested in having a war on its&nbsp;northern frontier with Lebanon. "We have no interest in a war in the north, we don't want to escalate the situation," Gallant said in a video released by his office.&nbsp;

He added, "If Hezbollah chooses the path of war, it will pay a very heavy price...But if it restrains itself, we'll respect the situation and keep things the way they are, despite them being in a process of shooting from both sides."

<h2>UN peacekeeper's HQ in southern Lebanon hit</h2>

The United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon said its headquarters was struck by a rocket in the southern town of Naqoura amid&nbsp;exchanges of fire on the border with Israel. 
 
"Our headquarters in Naqoura was hit with a rocket and we are working to verify from where. Our peacekeepers were not in shelters at the time. Fortunately, no one was hurt," said the&nbsp;UNIFIL&nbsp;in a statement.&nbsp;

During the meeting, the Saudi crown prince stressed the need to find ways to stop the conflict and respect international law, including by lifting the Israeli blockade on Gaza, according to the Saudi state news agency SPA.&nbsp;

"We're putting in place with the United Nations, with Egypt, with Israel, with others, the mechanism by which to get the assistance and to get it to people who need it," said Washington's top diplomat in Cairo.&nbsp;

The&nbsp;United States had appointed an envoy, veteran former diplomat David Satterfield, to work on aid to Gaza, said Blinken.&nbsp;

“Secretary Blinken will return tomorrow for further consultations with Israeli leaders,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters as Blinken arrived in Cairo.

<h2>‘Collective punishment’: Sisi&nbsp;on Israeli action&nbsp;in Gaza</h2>

Sisi told Blinken that Israel’s reaction to Hamas’ attack has gone beyond self-defence and amounted to collective punishment.&nbsp;

The remarks were made in televised comments during a meeting with Washington’s top diplomat in Cairo where he also said that he rejected the targeting of any civilians in the conflict.

According to the Palestinian Authority’s health ministry, at least 58 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,100 have been injured since Saturday (Oct 7) – after Hamas launched its deadly surprise attack on Israel – in clashes with Israeli troops, arrest raids and attacks by Jewish settlers.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the IDF, on Monday (Oct 16) said its troops have arrested 360 wanted Palestinians across the West Bank, including 210 affiliated with Hamas, since the beginning of the war with the Palestinian militant group in Gaza.&nbsp;

The Israeli military claims that 20 Hamas members were arrested last night alone and seized weapons and military equipment from one of the detainees in the village of Kafr Qallil.&nbsp;

There have been multiple reports of clashes erupting between the Israeli army and Palestinians in the West Bank in recent days, particularly since the war between Hamas and Israel began. The United Nations has also called the past week the deadliest for West Bank Palestinians since at least 2005.&nbsp;

<h2>11 Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza since Oct 7: PSJ</h2>

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PSJ), on Monday, claimed that Israel air strikes in Gaza since the beginning of the war have&nbsp;killed 11 Palestinian journalists and injured over 20 others, reported the Palestinian news agency Wafa.&nbsp;

According to PSJ, two journalists are missing and 50 main and branch offices of media centres were bombed amid the ongoing Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. The group has also claimed journalists were “beaten, detained, and prevented” from covering violence in the West Bank and Jerusalem, reported the Palestinian news agency.&nbsp;

Israel prepares for two-front war? Israeli army evacuates residents near Lebanon border after Hezbollah attack

The Indian Army is closely observing the ongoing Israel-Hamas war to draw lessons in order to enhance India's defence, said a report in The Hindu. The report, citing defence sources, said that use of power gliders by Hamas militants to cross over to the Israeli side is in particular focus.

“The aerial attacks, especially the use of power gliders, is of particular concern for us. The idea of the study is to quickly draw the lessons relevant to our context,” the publication quoted a source as saying.

Use of power gliders was one of the tactics used by Hamas militants during their initial attack on October 7. The gliders enhanced the element of surprise in the Hamas attack as its fighters were able to bypass physical barriers on ground and make their way into Israeli territory unobstructed.

Indian Army studying Israel-Hamas war to draw lessons, upgrade strategy: Report

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan on Sunday (Oct 15) slammed some of its officials on X, and "severed ties" with those who shook hands with an Iranian minister.&nbsp;

The United Nations was accused by him of "living under a rock" and having "blood on its hands". "The UN's support for and legitimisation of genocidal terrorists is a threat to civilization!," Ambassador Erdan wrote in one of his posts.

The ambassador was apparently miffed by a post shared by Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator Martin Griffiths. "The specter of death is hanging over #Gaza. With no water, no power, no food and no medicine, thousands will die. Plain and simple," Griffiths had posted.

Israel envoy accuses UN of having 'blood on its hands' over Iran minister handshake

The US on Saturday (October 14) deployed second aircraft carrier in order "to deter hostile actions against Israel". US President Joe Biden, at the same time, pushed for protection of civilians as Israel's siege and bombardment of Gaza Strip continues.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said in a statement that presence of USS Eisenhower and its affiliated warships in the eastern Mediterranean Sea signalled America's "ironclad commitment to Israel's security and our resolve to deter any state or non-state actor seeking to escalate this war,"

The Eisenhower joins USS Ford carrier strike group which is already in the eastern Mediterranean. It was ordered to move there as hostilities broke out between Israel and Hamas last week.

USA's latest significant show of support has come just when Israel appears poised for a ground offensive in Gaza.

Israel has asked more than one million people in the northern part of the crowded enclave to flee ahead of the assault. This has been condemned by some countries. Aid groups believe that the exodus would set off humanitarian crisis.

Israel has already cut off food, water and electricity supply to 2.4 million people living in Gaza Strip.

The White House said in a statement that President Biden spoke on phone with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and has "affirmed his support for all efforts to protect civilians". The statement did not specifically mention Gaza.

"President Biden discussed with Prime Minister Netanyahu US coordination with the United Nations, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and others in the region to ensure innocent civilians have access to water, food and medical care," the White House said.

Biden has also spoken with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmud Abbas for the first time since the fight broke out a week ago. He has "condemned Hamas' brutal attack on Israel."

"Hamas does not stand for the Palestinian people's right to dignity and self-determination," Biden told Abbas, according to a White House statement.

<h2>'Full&nbsp;support' for humanitarian assistance in Gaza</h2>

The statement added that President Biden has also pledged "full support" to the Palestinian Authority in its efforts for humanitarian assistance to Palestinians, "particularly in Gaza,"

Hamas fighters, broke through the heavily fortified border between the Gaza Strip and Israel last week setting off worst Israel-Palestine conflict in decades.

Nirim is less than a mile from the border with Gaza. A day prior to the Hamas attack, the residents reportedly spent Friday (October 6) celebrating the anniversary of the kibbutz’s founding. A few of the residents reportedly revealed the terror which unfolded a day after the celebrations were marked. They could not believe the horrors they woke up to the next morning.&nbsp;

Key Hamas leader Billal Al Kedra, man behind Kibbutz Nirim massacre, killed by Israel

Former US president Donald Trump is using his campaign plank for next year's elections to inject himself into the Israel-Hamas war, and in the process, has been attacking Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who was once upon a time his close friend.

On various platforms this week, Trump lashed out at&nbsp;Netanyahu in the wake of the dastardly Hamas terror attack on Israel last weekend that left nearly 1,300 mostly civilian Israelis dead. 
 
It would have been unthinkable some years ago, as he shared a warm relationship with Netanyahu in the past.

On Wednesday (Oct 12), Trump said Netanyahu was caught unprepared for Hamas' attack even as he praising the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah as "very smart".&nbsp;

While the comments highlight the strained relationship between the two men, it also is a departure from other Republican contenders for president,&nbsp;all of whom have tried to portray themselves as steadfast supporters of Netanyahu.

“(Netanyahu) has been hurt very badly because of what’s happened here. He was not prepared...and Israel was not prepared,” Trump told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade in an interview clip that aired Wednesday night.

Trump dug his heels into the same allegations at a campaign event in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“When I see sometimes the intelligence, you talk about the intelligence, or you talk about some of the things that went wrong over the last week, they’ve got to straighten it out because they’re fighting potentially a very big force,” Trump said about the alleged intelligence failure of Israel. 
 
On Hezbollah, he said: “They’re vicious, and they’re smart. And, boy, are they vicious, because nobody’s ever seen the kind of sight that we’ve seen”, Trump said regarding Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based militant group.

<h2>Trump and Netanyahu: How a friendship soured</h2>

Trump's new stance against Netanyahu is a sharp departure from the bonhomie the two had shared when he was in office, during which he embraced the Israeli prime minister at every opportunity.

Trump was an ardent supporter of Netanyahu during his term. The Iran nuclear deal was finally terminated by him in 2018, and he effectively sided with Israel in negotiations with the Palestinians by moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem and approving the annexation of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem into Israel. Trump also helped Israel reach the Abraham Accords, which set off a chain reaction of the Jewish nation's normalisation with several Arab countries.

The current hostility appears motivated by Netanyahu's openly approval&nbsp;that Joe Biden had won the 2020 presidential election.

In the months that followed, Trump had accused Netanyahu of disloyalty and fumed to Axios, “F*** him.”

Trump eventually complimented Netanyahu once he took back office in the latter part of last year, but his hostility towards him hasn't diminished, experts say.

Trump continues to believe that Netanyahu shouldn't have made comments regarding Biden's victory.

Trump once more brought up his false claims of election fraud during the campaign event on Wednesday night, and he implied that the Hamas attack wouldn't have occurred if he were president.

“If the [2020] election wasn’t rigged, there would be nobody even thinking about going into Israel,” the former president told his supporters.

He also invoked the US government’s 2020 killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and claimed Israel declined to participate in the strike.

“I’ll never forget that Bibi Netanyahu let us down. That was a very terrible thing, I will say that,” Trump said. He was possibly referring to a last-minute pull-out by Israel from actively participating in the killing of Soleimani, who eventually died in a targeted drone assassination.

At the time, however, Netanyahu praised the strike after the fact, saying it was justified because Soleimani “was planning further attacks” on Israel.

In the recent times, Netanyahu appeared to have shrugged off Trump's newfound hatred for him. 
 
When CNN pressed Netanyahu in his last interview with the network in September about whether the newfound hostility from Trump bothered him, the Israeli PM said, &nbsp;“I’ve been long enough in the political life to put aside the periodic ebb and flow of emotion and to look at the substantive positions that leaders and allies have done.

"So, yeah, I don’t particularly care for that. I mean, I don’t care about it, is the way I would say it.”

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) has given Gaza citizens three hours to evacuate the northern region as it prepares for an all-out coordinated attack against Hamas terrorists.

In a post on X on Sunday (Oct 15), the IDF said that no military activity would occur from 10 am&nbsp;to 1 pm (local time) and asked 1.1 million people living in Northern Gaza to use the time to evacuate.

"Residents of Gaza City and northern Gaza, in the past days, we've urged you to relocate to the southern area for your safety. We want to inform you that the IDF will not carry out any operations along this route from 10 pm to 1 pm," the Israeli military said.

"During this window, please take the opportunity to move southward from northern Gaza," it said.

The announcement comes a day after Israel pummelled northern Gaza with fresh air strikes on Saturday.

<h2>Gaza besieged </h2>

Israel had already blocked northern Gaza, cutting off food, water, electricity, medical supplies and other essentials including electricity.

UN chief Antonio Guterres has “been in&nbsp;constant contact with Israeli authorities urging them to avert a humanitarian catastrophe,” a spokesperson for Guterres, Stephen Dujarric told AP.&nbsp;

Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited troops on the border front line, raising expectations of an imminent invasion.

"Are you ready for what is coming? More is coming," he was heard telling several soldiers on a video released by his office, according to AFP news agency.

Meanwhile, the United States has deployed a second aircraft carrier near Israel to "deter hostile actions against Israel", Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said.

On Saturday. the World Health Organisation said that forcing thousands of hospital patients to evacuate to already overflowing hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip could be "tantamount to a death sentence".

"When dealing with international hot-spot issues, major countries must adhere to objectivity and fairness, maintain calmness and restraint, and take the lead in abiding by international law," said Wang.

He then said that China called for "the convening of an international peace meeting as soon as possible to promote the reaching of broad consensus".

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during his visit to the Lebanese capital Beirut, said that there was still a political opportunity to avert a widespread crisis in the region but "in the next few hours, it will be too late".

"There is still a political opportunity to prevent a widespread crisis in the region," Amir-Abdollahian told a press conference in Beirut after stops in Baghdad and Damascus.&nbsp;

But "maybe, in the next few hours, it will be too late," he said, warning that pro-Iran militants "have designed all the scenarios and are prepared, and their finger is on the trigger to shoot."

Although Tehran has voiced support for Hamas, Iranian Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei denied his country's involvement in the unprecedented attacks launched by the militant group on Israel.

"The supporters of the Zionist regime (Israel) and some people in the usurping regime (a reference to USA) have been spreading rumours over the past two or three days, including that Islamic Iran was behind this action. They are wrong," Khamenei said.

"This destructive earthquake (Hamas' attack) has destroyed some critical structures (in Israel) which will not be repaired easily ... The Zionist regime's own actions are to blame for this disaster," he said.

"We are fully prepared, and when the time comes for action, we will take it," he said.

"The behind-the-scenes calls with us by great powers, Arab countries, envoys of the United Nations, directly and indirectly telling us not to interfere will have no effect,", he said adding, "Hezbollah knows its duties perfectly well.

Israeli military spokesperson Richard Hecht, on Saturday, said that there is a safe passage window between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm (local time) on the roads, down the Gaza coast and through the centre of the narrow Palestinian territory, which is about 40 kilometres long.&nbsp;

However, Hecht did not comment on how many days the passage window would remain open and acknowledged that “this is going to take time but we recommend people not to delay.”&nbsp;

Similarly, Adraee had asked Gazans to head south “for their own safety” on specified streets of Gaza until 4:00 pm (local time).&nbsp;

Additionally, a security source belonging to the Palestinian militant group in Gaza, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the news agency that “two cars were bombed next to the Kuwaiti Hospital south of Gaza City”.

A report by CNN citing videos it authenticated showed a scene of extensive destruction after a blast on Salah Al-Deen Street on Friday where a “number of bodies, including those of children, can be seen on a flat-bed trailer” which seemed like a vehicle being used to carry people away from Gaza City.&nbsp;

It was not immediately clear what caused the widespread devastation, said the American media outlet.&nbsp;

AFP citing Hamas’s health ministry and government media office said dozens of civilians heading to safety were killed in at least three locations Friday afternoon.&nbsp;

According to reports, the&nbsp;bombing killed&nbsp;a reported 70 people, including children, which the Hamas has blamed on Israel.

A report by the Guardian cited&nbsp;an analysis done by the Forensic Architecture investigative unit at the Palestinian human rights organisation, al-Haq which used aerial photos and social media posts&nbsp;to geolocate the site of the strike.&nbsp;

The British media report citing the visuals from the aftermath of the attack said there were&nbsp;12 dead bodies, most of whom were women and children. It added, that the youngest child was around two-years-old.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Israeli military, on Saturday (Oct 14), released a statement saying that they had found the bodies of some of the hostages abducted by the Hamas militant group during their operations inside Gaza this week.

"We have found and located some bodies of Israelis who were abducted in the perimeter in the Gaza Strip," a military spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, told a briefing.

Israel claimed that at least 120 people were taken hostage when Hamas launched unprecedented attacks against Israel last week on Oct 7 that claimed the lives of at least 1,300.

The Israeli military has since orchestrated "localised" raids inside Gaza to support an air offensive on the territory that the Hamas government says has killed at least 2,215.

Lerner said the bodies of hostages were found on these "small, close-perimeter raids into the Gaza Strip".

The Israeli military has carried out air raids on thousands of Hamas targets in Gaza, said the spokesman.

"They include quality targets such as drone facilities, they include naval facilities, they include command and control facilities, they include all of the rocket facilities," Lerner said.

"Our assessment suggests that at this time Hamas are in a state of disarray, they have no idea what the situation is above ground, they have escaped into the tunnels."

Lerner said the bodies of hostages were found on these "small, close-perimeter raids into the Gaza Strip". Israeli military says bodies of hostages abducted by Hamas found in Gaza

A senior Israeli official on Saturday admitted that the current situation in Israel reflected the "mistakes" made by him and the ones making intelligence assessments.

"It's my mistake, and it reflects the mistakes of all those making (intelligence) assessments," National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi told a press briefing on being asked about his recent remarks predicting no Hamas aggression.

"We really believed that Hamas learned the lesson from&nbsp;its last major war with Israel in 2021," Hanegbi said.

He further rebuffed queries on any negotiations towards any prisoner swap deal with Hamas.

"There's no way to negotiate with an enemy we have sworn to obliterate," he said.

As per reports, one update shared on September 28, which was backed by multiple intelligence inputs, indicated that Hamas was planning a massive rocket attack on Israel.&nbsp;

The second assessment was produced on October 5, when the country’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) warned of the increasing possibility of violence by Hamas.

On October 6, the day before Hamas’ assault, US officials reportedly circulated inputs that came directly from Israel. All of this indicated a massive Gazan attack on Israel.

It was unclear whether or not the US intelligence assessments were shared with the Israeli administration.

While the intelligence hinted at the possibility of violence, none of the inputs gave details or indicated the sheer scale and brutality of the attack.

Israel admits intelligence failure in predicting Hamas attacks

Thousands of Israelis were in the midst of attending an outdoor music festival in the desert when they were thrown into chaos as Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise attack, on Saturday morning (Oct 7).&nbsp;

The attack was part of a wave of unexpected incursions by the militants into southern Israel and launched one of the biggest attacks on the country in decades.&nbsp;

The musical festival attendees who managed to escape have recalled the harrowing ordeal as an all-night nature party – held near Kibbutz Re’im close to Gaza, one of the first targets of Hamas militants who entered Israel.&nbsp;

In a video posted by an X user Yael Bar tur, Dor who is said to be a massage therapist in Israel recalled the harrowing details of how he managed to escape the desert.&nbsp;

“I had a massage stand (at the festival). Everything was amazing until 6:00 am (local time). We saw trails of missiles rising in the air. At the time music stopped and there was shouting ‘the party is over’,” said Dor.&nbsp;

He went on to say how there was panic on the ground, where some people were lying on the floor others were running and “it became total chaos”.&nbsp;

Subsequently, Dor, who was accompanied by his friend, heard gunshots getting closer and they ran towards the parking lots, drove between tents in their jeep and picked up rifles from dead soldiers on their way.&nbsp;

They managed to get to the bypass road when they encountered a group of militants on motorcycles,&nbsp;said Dor, and the militant&nbsp;chanted some anti-Jew remarks at him before they began shooting at the vehicle.&nbsp;

Subsequently, he kept driving in a “zig-zag pattern” to dodge the gunshots but his friend Gilad who was in the vehicle with him at the time got “shrapnel in the head”. “We see sprayed vehicles…bodies on the floor…” said Dor.&nbsp;

He said that a group of Hamas militants arrived and began shooting at the toilet doors while they were hiding in one of them and described it as “six hours of horror”. They were later rescued by the Israeli military.&nbsp;

Many of them were gunned down as they tried to flee and some hid in the fruit orchards. The Israeli rescue service Zaka on Sunday (Oct 8) confirmed that <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/after-brutal-hamas-attack-israeli-rescue-service-retrieve-260-bodies-from-music-festival-644281">260 dead bodies</a> were retrieved from the site by the paramedics but the total death toll is likely to go higher as other paramedic teams work in the area.&nbsp;
