'Won’t be retained by SRH' - David Warner looking for 'fresh start', to put his name in IPL 2022 auction

The Indian cricket board will be expecting the two new IPL franchises to go for Rs 7000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore each after the bidding process begins here on Monday.

It is still not clear whether the BCCI will announce the successful bidders on Monday itself after doing the technical evaluation of the bids.

There are 22 companies which have picked up tender document worth Rs 10 lakh but with base price for new teams pegged at INR 2000 crore, there is expected to be only five to six serious bidders in fray.

The BCCI is also allowing a consortium of up to three companies/individuals to bid for a franchise.

However, in case of an individual or company, that particular entity's annual turnover should be minimum INR 3000 crore and in case of consortium, each of the three entities should have an annual turnover of INR 2500 crore.

In this scenario, one of India's richest business tycoon Gautam Adani and his Adani Group are expected to bid for the Ahmedabad franchise. Adani Group, if they finally put up a bid, are the favourites to own a new franchise.

Similarly, RPSG group which is headlined by billionaire Sanjiv Goenka are also considered to be serious bidders for a new franchise. Whether RPSG would have any individual or other company as a part of consortium is still not known.

"Gautam Adani and Sanjiv Goenka are the biggest names in the Indian industry. They will be serious bidders. Expect a minimum bid of INR 3500 crore from the potential bidders. Don't forget that IPL broadcast rights is projected around USD 5 billion (Rs 36,000 Crore).

"So the economics will work accordingly as franchises get the TV revenue share equally," a BCCI insider tracking the developments told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

For the record, Goenka owned the Pune Franchise Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) for two years and is also the owner of ISL franchise ATK Mohun Bagan.

There has been buzz that Lancer group, which is owned by Manchester United owner Avram Glazer, has also picked up the bid document.

The other notable companies which are in fray comprise Kotak group, pharmaceutical majors Aurobindo Pharma and Torrent group.

The two cities that are favourites in terms of stadium capacity are Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera with more than 100,000 capacity while the other is Ekana Stadium in Lucknow with 70,000 capacity.

Ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2021 auction, Delhi Capitals assistant coach&nbsp;and former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif has revealed DC's plan during Thursday's mini-auction. Kaif has said that Delhi Capitals will look to get back-up players in the IPL 2021 auction in a bid to bolster their bench&nbsp;strength&nbsp;for IPL 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"We have released a few players, so we will be looking to fill those gaps. I think flexibility is the key in the auction. One can have all the plans for the auction, but things can change on the auction table," Kaif said.&nbsp;

"We have to take spontaneous decisions. Our main players have been playing continuously and there are no fitness issues as well. So, we'll be looking to acquire some back-up players in tomorrow's auction," he added.&nbsp;

IPL 2021 auction to be held on February 18 in Chennai

The Indian cricket board has said that it would deal and communicate directly with the state associations and not with any player agents in case of individual players wishing to register themselves for the Indian Premier League (IPL) players` auction for the 2021 season. 
 
The deadline for franchises to name their retentions from previous season is January 20 whereas the deadline for players without contracts to make online submission for IPL 2021 player auction agreements is February 4. The final deadline for the originals sent by post will be accepted until February 12. 
 
The mini-auction is likely to be held on February 16. 
 
"Please note that, at this stage of the process, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will only deal directly with the state associations and at no time will have any communication with player agents or managers. Any failure by a player to abide by this will (unless BCCI in its sole discretion decides otherwise) result in the player`s name being withdrawn with immediate effect from the IPL 2021 auction register and/or IPL 2021 auction list (as appropriate)," stated the BCCI in a letter to state associations. 
 
The onus has been put on the state body to give name of the players who want to participate in the auctions. 
 
"Registration for this season will be via an online IPL auction registration system. A unique password and login will be sent to you in a separate email. Please note the password should be changed once you have logged in for the first time and not to be shared with players," the letter to state bodies states. 
 
"Once logged in you will be asked to register all interested players (details on the procedure can be found in the attached user manual for state associations)," it adds. 
 
"When the above registration is initiated by the state association, it will generate an email to the player with their login details so they can complete the registration process." 
 
"Once registered, in order to express their interest in playing in the IPL 2021, the player should login to the online registration system. They will be required to complete all the fields and download and complete the IPL 2021 player auction agreement. Once completed the agreement must be uploaded back to the online registration system and the original sent or delivered to their respective state association. Please note physical signature of player is required on original auction agreement." 
 
The BCCI has also set certain norms for under-19 players willing to feature in the auctions. It says that the player needs to be registered as a player with a state body and should have played at least one first-class or list A match. 
 
"An Indian under-19 player may only register for the IPL 2021 player auction if the player is registered as a player with a state association and has played in at least one match in either first-class cricket or List A cricket. For the 2021 season, an u-19 player is one who was born on or after 1 April 2002," the BCCI stated. 
 
The BCCI also put a condition for uncapped player who has retired from domestic cricket, saying that the player would need approval from it. 
 
"Any uncapped player who has retired from domestic cricket, can only submit his auction agreement for player registration after getting written approval from BCCI," said the statement.

In a mail sent to the state associations,&nbsp;accessed by ANI,&nbsp;IPL COO and interim BCCI CEO Hemang Amin has explained the entire process through&nbsp;which an Indian player can register to play in IPL 2021.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Amin said the process wasn't applicable for players with an ongoing contract in IPL.&nbsp;“Please note that this procedure does not apply to any Indian player who has an ongoing IPL Player Contract that may be extended prior to IPL 2021 Player Auction (the deadline for franchises to complete this process is 20th January 2021),” he wrote.&nbsp;

Amin made it clear that the BCCI will not be dealing with any player agent or manager and all dealings will be done with the state bodies. “Please note that, at this stage of the process, BCCI will only deal directly with the state associations and at no time will have any communication with player agents or managers. Any failure by a player to abide by this will (unless BCCI in its sole discretion decides otherwise) result in the player’s name being withdrawn with immediate effect from the IPL 2021 Auction Register and/or IPL 2021 Auction List (as appropriate),” he explained.&nbsp;

Under-19 cricketers are also allowed to register for IPL 2021 auction given he is a part of the state team and has played at least one match in first-class or List&nbsp;A.“An&nbsp;Indian U19 player may only register for the IPL 2021 Player Auction if the player is registered as a player with a State Association and has played in at least one match in either First Class cricket or List A cricket. For the 2021 Season, a U19 player is one who was born on or after 1 April 2002,” the mail said.&nbsp;
