I am very hopeful that things will improve between India and Pakistan, and trade will open. I urge people from both sides to spread positivity and close the gap instead of burning bridges," said Akhtar in a conversation with media outlet Sports Today.

Both sides should stop giving statements. When things improve between the governments, they talk, and things will improve. Who is PCB or BCCI to stop or start anything? Thus, Bumrah is not even among the players who have reached Guwahati, the venue for the three-match ODI series opener on Tuesday (January 10).&nbsp;

It is to be noted Bumrah has been out of action since September 2022, which kept him out of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition in Australia as well. Before that, the pacer had also missed the Asia Cup 2022, in the UAE, due to injury concerns. He, thus, took&nbsp;a dig at ACC chief for 'for unilaterally presenting ACC structure and calendars 2023-24' and wrote in response, "Thank you Jay Shah for unilaterally presenting ACC structure and calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present structure and calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated."

The ACC, in a statement, has now&nbsp;called&nbsp;Sethi's claims baseless and revealed that they had already emailed&nbsp;the PCB&nbsp;about the calendar of Asian cricket on December 22. "It has come to our knowledge that PCB Chairman Mr. Najam Sethi has made a comment on the ACC President unilaterally taking the decision on finalising the calendar and announcing the same. The ACC wants to clarify that it has followed established due process. The calendar was approved by its Development Committee and Finance &amp; Marketing Committee in a meeting held on December 13th, 2022," the ACC said.

Gambhir added that if some players cannot adapt to the new template, there is no point in trying to fit them into the side. "Some people just cannot adapt to that template so why push them to play in a certain way which doesn't come naturally to them. So, for me, I think identifying players and at the same time getting the right mix is very important, rather than thinking that we have to play at a certain template so we got to select all the 15 with a similar mind-set or with a similar template," he added.

However, India's tax rules don't allow for such exemptions; putting BCCI in a fix. For hosting the 2016 T20 World Cup, the board incurred a&nbsp;loss of&nbsp;a whopping USD 23.5 million (INR 193 crore). Thus, the BCCI is working hard to bring down the tax surcharge percentage to 10.92 per cent, as opposed to the currently demanded&nbsp;21.84 per cent.

"The next ICC major men's event, which is the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, is scheduled to be held in India in the month of October &amp; November in 2023. The BCCI was obligated to deliver a tax exemption or a tax solution to the ICC for this event, latest by April 2022," carried out&nbsp;a report which was circulated among state units prior to the BCCI's upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), on October 18 in Mumbai.&nbsp;

"This time line was further extended by the ICC Board till 31st May 2022. At the start of this financial year, the BCCI had advised the ICC that in line with the tax order for the 2016 event, it was expected that a 10% (excluding surcharges) tax order could be obtained as an interim measure for the 2023 event within the required time frame.

"The ICC has now received a 20% (excluding surcharges) tax order for its broadcast revenue for the 2023 event from the tax authorities in India."

If the BCCI manages to&nbsp;reduce the tax surcharge, to 10.92 percent, it will still bear a heavy loss; around INR 430 crore&nbsp;(USD 52.23 million).

"The BCCI is currently working with the Ministry of Finance, Government of India and have represented against this 20% (excluding surcharges) tax order at the very highest level and are hopeful that a 10% (excluding surcharges) tax order would be forthcoming shortly.

"It is to be noted that any tax cost incurred by the ICC for the 2023 event in India will be adjusted with the BCCI's share of revenue from the ICC," the report further asserted.

"I think India are in a very good position as far as ODIs are concerned, they will be in the top 3. Also, the heartening thing is the way the youngsters delivered. They are pushing people who are incumbent. For example, Shikhar, someone like Padikkal, Shaw scoring those runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy. You already have Mayank (Agarwal), KL (Rahul). There is a healthy competition there. It augurs well for Indian cricket," Dasgupta told India Today.
