After months of fear due to bomb threats received by several schools in Delhi, the Special Cell of Delhi Police revealed that at least two schools in the Rohini district received threatening emails from their own students, who wanted to postpone exams as they were not prepared.

In his complaint, Salve said that three men approached him and Vaswani at 9.30 pm (local time) on December 10 and claimed that they had video evidence which proved their involvement in a fake call centre.
The police officer said that the trio identified themselves as police staff and were later joined by an associate. 
Even though the students showed their college IDs and denied any wrongdoing, the mobile phones were forcibly confiscated by the four men and the students were brought to their flat to carry out searches.

Police were able to reach out to the accused by tracking their phone numbers. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vichitra Veer said that they have recovered Rs 1 lakh (approx. $1177) of the stolen money, the car used in the crime and the pistol. 
“We identified all suspects through technical and manual investigation and arrested them. Efforts are being made to nab the person from whom the accused had procured the firearm," he said.

Several private schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Monday, prompting swift action by authorities. According to the Delhi police, threats were reported from more than 40 schools.

Several Delhi Schools Evacuated After Bomb Threat

India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday (Oct 29) said that they had busted a clandestine methamphetamine manufacturing laboratory in Gautam Budh Nagar of Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region).&nbsp;

The NCB and the Delhi police conducted a joint operation, in which they busted the lab which has been linked to the Mexican drug cartel – Cartel De Jalisco Nueva Generacion.&nbsp;

Indian nationals were running the laboratory in an industrial area in Kasna Industrial Area of district Gautam Budh Nagar, the NCB said in a statement on Tuesday. &nbsp;

According to the statement, the lab was meant to make synthetic drugs like methamphetamine for export to other countries as well as consumption in India.

Sunil, a priest of the famous Kalkaji Temple in Delhi and the Secretary of Manas Naman Sewa Society, who organises the grand Ramlila at the Satpula Ground in Chirag&nbsp;Dilli, filed the plea through advocate Prateek Chadha. He has challenged the Delhi Police Prohibitory Order banning assembly of five or more people from September 30 to October 5, saying that it will affect footfall during Dussehra and Navratri festivals. The petitioner said that the order would hinder religious celebrations during this period.

"The Ramlila and the fair around it see significant footfall each year during Dussehra and Navratri. Such festivities are organised in every nook and cranny of the city, and these were scheduled to commence on October 3, 2024. However, now, in light of the order assailed in this present petition, the commencement of these festivities across the city and long-standing traditions observed by innumerable residents of Delhi is in jeopardy for no constitutionally valid reason," the petition said.

In the plea, the petitioner sought quashing and setting aside of the order dated September 30, 2024, issued by the Commissioner of Police. Delhi Police exercising and enacting the powers under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, prohibited the assembly of five or more unauthorised persons from September 30 to October 5. During this period, there is a prohibition on the assembly of five or more unauthorised persons, carrying of firearms, banners, placards, lathis, and so on and dharnas in public areas.

"The impugned order will have a significant effect on the ingress and egress of citizens wishing to enter the NCT of Delhi from other states," the petition said.

The reasons provided in the order do not relate to any emergency or unforeseen circumstance that necessitates the curfew sought to be imposed by the police, the petition said.

"The elections, amendments to the Waqf laws, as well as the upcoming festivals, are all well known to the public authorities in advance, and necessary security arrangements ought to be made for the same. The practice of invoking Section 163 of BNSS for such foreseeable scenarios, without a grave apprehension of security breaches or disruption of public order is unsustainable in light of the pronouncements of this Court," the petitioner said.

Puja Khedkar had secured an all-India rank of 821 in the UPSC exams by faking her identity to avail attempts beyond the permissible limit.&nbsp; 
 
She is accused of misusing the disability and Other Backward Class (non-creamy layer) quotas to secure her candidature in the civil services exam.

“UPSC has examined the available records carefully and found her guilty of acting in contravention of the provisions of the CSE-2022 Rules. Her provisional candidature for the CSE-2022 has been cancelled and she has also been debarred permanently from all the future Examinations/Selections of the UPSC,” an official statement by UPSC read.

Earlier, the Delhi Police had registered an FIR against her on the basis of the complaint filed by the UPSC.

Delhi Police have busted a gang of thieves who&nbsp;masqueraded as deaf and mute orphans and stole valuables from vulnerable houses. The matter came to light after 19-year-old Venkatesh was arrested by police in a burglary case. On January 16, some unknown people entered a house in the Jungpura area of Nizamuddin and stole two Apple MacBooks, a Bose portable speaker and several other items.

The victim, a lawyer, subsequently filed a case with police under Sections 380 (committing theft in any building) and 454 (lurking, house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment).

A team of police officers led by sub-inspectors Akash Tomar and Jitendra was formed to pursue the case. After investigating local CCTV footage, they managed to apprehend Venkatesh from Sarai Kale Khan in southeast Delhi. As per media reports, the items stolen in the January 16 burglary case were recovered from his residence, along with other items pertaining to several other cases.

<h2>Modus operandi</h2>

Venkatesh told investigating officers that he and his associates would carry printed pamphlets implying that they are deaf and mute, and would seek financial assistance from unsuspecting people.&nbsp;

They would also target vulnerable houses while roaming in localities early morning. “During the morning time, the residents usually remain busy in their work and often lower their guard&nbsp;about unknown people at the door,” an officer was quoted as saying by media reports.

Delhi: Police bust gang of thieves posing as deaf-mute and stealing from vulnerable houses

The son of a top police officer in India's&nbsp;capital New Delhi was allegedly killed by two friends over a financial dispute, the Delhi Police said on Friday (Jan 25). According to a report by the news agency PTI, the police said that 26-year-old Lakshya Chauhan, along with two of his friends- Vikas Bhardwaj and Abhishek — had gone to attend a wedding&nbsp;in Haryana’s Sonepat on Monday.

After Chauhan did not return home the next day, his father ACP Yashpal Singh, posted as ACP (Operations) in Outer-North Delhi, lodged a missing complaint. The police said that the complaint was later converted into an abduction FIR when the police suspected some foul play during the investigation. A search operation was launched.&nbsp;

According to the police, Chauhan was allegedly pushed into a canal by Vikas and Abhishek. The police arrested Abhishek from his house on Thursday and have been&nbsp;interrogating him, while efforts are&nbsp;underway to nab Vikas.

During the interrogation, Abhishek said that Vikas called him on Monday noon and invited him to attend a marriage function with him and Chauhan in Sonepat, a police official told PTI.

Vikas also told Abhishek that Chauhan had taken a loan from him and misbehaved whenever he asked him to return the money. The duo then planned to eliminate Chauhan.

On Monday, Chauhan picked up the accused from near Mukarba Chowk in Rohini. They reached the wedding venue by night and left after midnight, another official said.&nbsp;

While returning, the trio stopped the car near the Munak Canal to attend to nature's call. This was the moment when Abhishek and Vikas allegedly pushed Chauhan into the canal and fled the spot in his car.

Upon reaching Delhi, Vikas dropped Abhishek in Narela and went away. Abhishek was charged under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).&nbsp;

Chauhan's body has not been recovered yet. He resided with his parents in outer-north Delhi’s Samaypur Badli area. He was a lawyer by profession and practised at the Tis Hazari court.

The police said that Vikas works as a clerk for another lawyer who practises at the court while Abhishek was his&nbsp;acquaintance.

Since November, authorities have been diligently pursuing leads in the Rashmika case. The Delhi Police had interrogated numerous social media users who shared the deepfake, but the creator had remained elusive until now. The law enforcement agency had previously reached out to Meta as well in November, urging them to provide the URL of the account responsible for circulating the viral video.

An FIR had been filed in connection with the incident. Recently, Indian cricket legend&nbsp;Sachin Tendulkar also fell victim to a deepfake video. The video was manipulated to endorse an online game.

Social media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and fake news," Sachin wrote on X.
