The Delhi Police revealed on Thursday that some of the body parts found in forests in Mehrauli and Gurugram belonged to Shraddha Walkar. The DNA sample of the bone fragment that police were examining matched that of Shraddha's father. In an interview with ANI news agency, Special Commissioner of Police Law and Order, Delhi, Sagar Preet Hooda stated that they have received the DNA and polygraph test findings from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). "Police have received DNA and polygraph test reports from Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). These reports will help us further in the investigation," Hooda said.

The police also stated that the corpse parts will be sent for post-mortem testing. The investigation is now underway. The senior officers investigating Shraddha Walkar's atrocious murder by her live-in lover Aaftab Poonawala feel the results will be critical to the probe.

Poonawala was arrested last month and is presently being held in Tihar jail based on his confession of murdering Walkar and slicing her body into 35 pieces for disposal. Poonawala, on 9 December, appeared in court via video conference, and his judicial detention was extended for another 14 days. The Mehrauli forest yielded 13 decaying bones and part of a jaw that was thought to belong to the 27-year-old Shraddha.

According to ANI sources, FSL is required to submit the results of Aftab's polygraph and narco test. Aaftab Poonawala's narco analysis test was performed on 1st December at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini. Vikas Walkar, Shraddha Walkar's father, has requested for death penalty to the accused Aaftab Poonawalla. Vikas said that "Shraddha would have been alive" if the Vasai Police had assisted him on time. However, he stated that the Delhi Police had guaranteed his family that justice would be done.

As quoted by news agencies, police officials said that an 11-year-old student was allegedly raped by two seniors studying in Class 11 and 12. The horrible incident happened in the school's washroom. A case has been registered.

The alleged incident had taken place in July, but has been highlighted as a "serious matter" by DCW only after the victim approached police on Tuesday.

Delhi Police on Thursday termed Twitter's statements in the 'toolkit' case "mendacious" and said that the statements from the social media giant were "designed to impede a lawful inquiry".

An official statement issued by Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal said, "Prima facie, these statements are not only mendacious but designed to impede a lawful inquiry by a private enterprise. Twitter Inc. Has taken upon itself, in the garb of terms of service, to adjudicate the truth or otherwise of documents in public space."

As per Delhi Police, Twitter was purporting to be both investigating authority and adjudicating authority, but has no legal sanction to be either.

The only legal entity to investigate is the police and to adjudicate is the courts, the statement said,

The Delhi Police said that it has registered a preliminary inquiry in the 'toolkit' case at the instance of a complaint filed by the representative of the Indian National Congress.

"Hence, the efforts by Twitter Inc. That portray that this as an FIR filed at the behest of the Government of India is wholly and completely incorrect," it stated.

Thousands of farmers from neighbouring states blocked major roads into the Indian capital on Saturday, in protest against recent agricultural deregulation.

On Saturday, tensions rose again in the protests over laws that farmers fear could rob them of minimum guaranteed prices for their produce -- a day after clashes ended with an agreement that the farmers could demonstrate in the capital. In response, India deployed hundreds of police and paramilitary forces at a New Delhi border.

Farmers appeared ready for a long sit-in and refused to relocate to a designated protest site, raising fears of fresh clashes between security forces and protesters.

Both security forces and farmers installed barricades to prevent a repeat of Friday's clashes.

Those gathered at the Tikri border continued to hold ground as well. A decision on whether they would head to the designated protest site is expected soon.

On Friday, hundreds of farmers entered the national capital to hold a peaceful protest at the Sant Nirankari Ground after facing teargas and water cannons and clashing with security personnel while thousands remained at border points, undecided whether to go to the demonstration site identified by police.

The day witnessed police using teargas shells, water cannons and multi-layer barriers to block the protesters and the farmers pelting stones and breaking barricades in some places in their determination to push through as part of their 'Delhi Chalo' march against the Centre's new farm laws.

Some signs of normalcy returned to riot-hit areas of northeast Delhi on Saturday as people stepped out of their homes to buy groceries and medicines from a few shops that opened amid intensified patrolling by security personnel.

Since early morning, civic workers were seen clearing roads of bricks, glass shards and burnt vehicles in the aftermath of the violence that left 42 dead and over 200 injured. At some places, even bulldozers were used as it became difficult to manually remove debris.

In Jaffrabad, Maujpur, Yamuna Vihar, Chand Bagh, Mustafabad and Bhajanpura, which were among the areas worst hit by the communal violence, there were more vehicles and people on the roads than in the last five days.

Personnel from the Delhi Police and paramilitary forces encouraged people to open their shops and appealed for peace and communal harmony. They started their march at Jaffrabad and moved through Maujpur and then into the narrow lanes of Noor-e-Ilahi, Yamuna Vihar and Bhajanpura, areas where mobs ran riot vandalising shops, houses and torching vehicles early this week.

Schools in northeast Delhi still remain closed.

"It is only the smaller shops that have opened today. The bigger shops and showrooms have still not opened and their owners are being cautious," a showroom owner, whose property was attacked during the riots, told PTI.

Shakib, a resident of Noor-e-Ilahi, said people selling vegetables on carts made rounds of colonies. "Not many, only a couple of them could be seen. The rates are still a little high than the usual, but at least they have resumed sale," he said.

Yamuna Vihar resident Amit Tanwar said the situation has improved and grocery stores and other shops opened during the day.

However, some establishments like restaurants are still not open as their workers have not come to work, he added.

Officials on Saturday said schools will remain closed in northeast Delhi till March 7 in view of the violence. The annual exams have also been postponed since the situation is not conducive for conducting examinations in the violence-affected areas, they said.

Sources said the Delhi government is considering to issue a WhatsApp number for people to report circulation of provocative messages and take complaints on those spreading rumours.

Among the several houses torched by rioters was that of Border Security Force (BSF) Constable Mohammad Anees, who is currently posted at a camp of the force the in West Bengal's Radhabari. The BSF has decided to rebuild his house and hand it over to him as a 'wedding gift'.

At the Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital people are still frantically searching for their loved ones, either in the casualty ward or at the mortuary.

Forty-eight-year-old Madeena, whose son has been missing since Tuesday following the violence, has been running to police stations to find if he is still alive.

"I have been going to police stations. There is no trace of him. I don't know if he is alive or not. Even if he is found here (at the mortuary) among the dead, I will get a closure at least.

Otherwise I will live in hopes forever that he will come home some day," she said. Mohammad Qadir from Bijnor, who has been visiting the GTB Hospital since Wednesday, is looking for his 18-year-old brother Aftab. "He had gone to meet his friends that day. He further claimed that he suffers from severe physical disability, and it cannot be comprehended that he could at all influence any witnesses whatsoever.

'Jama Masjid not in Pakistan where we aren't allowed to protest': Judge Kamini Lau slams Delhi police

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea seeking directions to the police to open the Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch which has been closed since December 15 last year due to anti- Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests. The court asked the Delhi police to look into the matter and deal with the issue.

A division bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar was hearing the plea filed by social activist and lawyer Amit Sahni.

The petitioner in the plea which sought to reopen the Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch said that the closure is causing huge inconvenience and hardship to lakhs of commuters every day.

Amid the anti-Citizenship Act and anti-NRC demonstrations, the Kalindi Kunj stretch, a crucial route which connects Delhi with Faridabad and Noida has been closed since December 15.

Several commuters using this road have been forced to use alternative routes such as Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) Expressway and Ashram.

Scores of protesters have been agitating in the area against the CAA and NRC for over a month now.

Barricades have been put in place to keep the stir in control.

On January 10, the High Court refused to entertain a petition seeking removal of police barricades in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area contending that it is causing traffic issues and demanding that protestors be shifted to some other location.

The Delhi Police has time and again issued an advisory regarding closure or obstruction due to traffic in the area.

Apart from the temporary road closures, traffic has also been affected because a part of Mathura Road is dug up to for the construction of an underpass, which is expected to ease congestion at Ashram Chowk, Mathura Road and the adjoining arteries by connecting Nizamuddin to New Friends Colony.

Sahni also said that office goers are facing inconvenience and children are compelled to leave home two hours before the school opens.

The petitioner also told the court that he made a representation to the respondents on January 3 but no action has been taken upon the same till date.
