Among the new buys, the Yellow Army roped in New Zealand opener Devon Conway (INR 10 million),&nbsp;acquired the services of Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorious (INR 5 million) and went hard to add some unknown players as well -- such as Tushar Despande (INR 2 million), Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Maheesh Theekshana, Subhranshu Senapati, Mukesh Choudhary, Bhagat Varma, Prashant Solanki and C Hari Nishaanth -- to bolster their bench strength.&nbsp;

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a pretty quiet day at the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction on Saturday as the franchise remained content by focusing on buying their old players back. CSK went after a host&nbsp;of their former players and managed to get them back on day 1 of the IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru.

A lot of eyes were on CSK ahead of the start of the mega auction as they were expected to revamp their squad ahead of the start of the new season. However, the four-time champions once again showed faith in experience over youth as they bought back Robin Uthappa and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo for a sum of Rs 2 crore (INR 20 million) and Rs 4.4 crore (INR 440 million) respectively.

CSK then managed to bring back experienced Indian batter Ambati Rayudu, who was released by the franchise ahead of the mega auction. CSK spent Rs 6.75 crore (INR 67.5 million) to secure Rayudu's services for the upcoming season. CSK then went on to make Indian pacer Deepak Chahar their most expensive signing in IPL history.

Chahar, who has been an integral part of the CSK setup since joining the side in 2018, saw his price rise from his base price of Rs 2 crore to a whopping Rs 14 crore (INR 140 million) at the mega auction. CSK beat the likes of Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad to the signing of Chahar.

As CSK kept going after their former players and managed to get them back, Delhi Capitals (DC) came up with a hilarious tweet to troll the four-time IPL champions. DC shared a Bollywood inspired meme to take a dig at CSK. Among the players who are keen to rejoin CSK and play under Dhoni is veteran India batter Rayudu, who was recently seen in action for Andhra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, believes he has a lot of cricket left in him and can continue playing&nbsp;for the next three years.

"I would love to keep playing till I am in good form and fit. I will be ready for the next cycle, which is three years and I am working hard on my fitness," Rayudu was quoted as saying by PTI.

"I recently played the Vijay Hazare Trophy which is five one-day games in six days which I got through well. I am in good shape and I hope to continue to play at least for the next three years," the 36-year old added.

Rayudu has played a vital role in CSK's success since joining the franchise in the 2018 season. He played 61 matches for CSK and scored 1500 runs at an average of 34.09 and a strike rate close to 130. He played an instrumental role in CSK's title triumph in 2018 and scored runs consistently in the next three seasons as well.

Rayudu said his stint with CSK has been a special one and called Dhoni the best captain to have led India. Rayudu said Dhoni had a huge impact on his game and knew how to bring the best out of the batsman.

"My stint with CSK has been a very special one. We have won two IPLs till now and played one final. 2018 was a very special season, a comeback season for CSK and us winning the IPL that year made it very special," said Rayudu.&nbsp;

"Dhoni bhai has had the impact of getting the best out of me, not only me but he has an impact on everyone and brings the best performance out of everyone in the team. That is why he is the best captain India has ever had," he added.

The Hyderabad star revealed he has not had any formal conversations yet with the team but&nbsp;is hopeful of reuniting with CSK at the mega auction next year. The IPL mega auction is set to take place in February next year and will feature a host of superstars who are set to go under the hammer.

"I would definitely love to play for CSK. Formally, there has not been any communication with me so far, But I am hoping to get picked by them and have a successful league again," said Rayudu.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has made some startling revelations regarding Team India's squad selection for the 2019 ODI World Cup. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the BCCI&nbsp;and all the state associations that I have represented which include Hyderabad, Baroda, Andhra and Vidharbha. I also would like to thank the two IPL franchises MI and CSK&nbsp;for their support," he continued.

Shankar fractured his toe when Jasprit Bumrah's ball hit him during a net session. It had not looked very serious but it appears to have been aggravated.&nbsp;

India have requested governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) to approve Mayank Agarwal as Shankar's replacement.&nbsp;

"Vijay Shankar sustained a non-displaced fracture of the left big toe, which will require a minimum of three weeks to heal. The injury rules him out of the ongoing World Cup," said a BCCI statement.

"The Indian team management has requested the ICC (International Cricket Council) to consider Mayank Agarwal as his replacement."

However, fans and spectators are not pleased with Mayank's name as Shankar's replacement because according to some, Ambati Rayudu should have been called up.&nbsp;

"We are back on track. I thought we were below par in the field in the second and third ODI. Sometimes you need a wake-up call and we were at our best in the last two ODIs. This Windies team is a promising unit. They have some exceptional players who with exposure, I am sure will test some of the big sides," the coach felt.

Skipper Kohli too praised his bowlers for their clinical show in the last two games.&nbsp;

Virat Kohli will look to solve the middle order problem ahead of ICC World Cup 2019 that team India has been facing from quite sometime.

Kohli said if batsman Ambati Rayudu cements his place at the crucial number four then the middle order problem will be solved.

"The only position we were trying to figure out was number four for a long time. We tried many players who unfortunately could not capitalise or cement their places in a way we wanted," Kohli said ahead of the first one-dayer against the West Indies.

"With Rayudu coming in and playing well in the Asia Cup, it's about giving him enough game time till the World Cup so that the particular slot will be sorted for us," he added.&nbsp;
