Tyson Fury's father John Fury suffered a cut on the head during a media event on Monday (May 12) of the heavyweight championship fight against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Furry Sr. got involved in a head-butting incident with a member of Usyk's team which eventually resulted in him being hurt. The fight is scheduled to take place on Saturday (May 18).

During the event, John was standing eyes-to-eyes with a member of Usyk's entourage before being separated. He then head-butted another member and had to be carried with a wound on his head. Tyson, who wasn't at the event when the incident took place, asked his father after seeing the footage: "How did you cut yourself like that?"

Fury Sr., however, issued an apology for his behaviour later on Monday and said:" Sincere apologies to everybody involved. It's just the way we are. Emotions and tensions are running high. He was a very disrespectful fella. If you come close in a fighting man's space, you're gonna cop for something," he told Seconds Out Boxing.

"What matters to me is respect for my son, and he wasn't showing any of it. He mentioned my son and that was it, so he had to have it. It doesn't bother me [bleeding], it's what we live for, we're fighting people. That's a regular occurrence to me," he added.

Talking about the fighters, Fury has a phenomenal record of 34 wins and one draw in 35 professional fights. Out of his 34 wins, 24 have been knock outs.

Ukrainian Usyk, on the other hand, has also been undefeated so far in his 21 fights. He has won all of them with 14 of them being the knock outs. The winner of the fight will be declared the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world - the first since 1999.
