National Cricket Academy chairman Niranjan Shah not invited for meeting

NCA leaves out Niranjan Shah from meeting

Story highlights

According to the information available with DNA, the notices were sent to all NCA members, sans Shah

Niranjan Shah, the chairman of the National Cricket Academy, is the only man missing from the invite list sent out to all the members for a meeting set to take place in New Delhi on Friday.

According to DNA, the notices were sent to all NCA members, sans Shah, late on Thursday by none other than acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary. If sources are to be believed then Shah has deliberately been left out to send “right signals” to the Supreme Court ahead of the September 18 hearing.

NCA members were eager to meet to move forward regarding its new project that is coming up in the outskirts of Bengaluru.

When contacted, Shah claimed that “he has no idea about this latest development”.

“No body has sent me any invite as of now. If at all they go ahead with the meeting without inviting me, then I will write to the concerned members to know how a chairman of the committee cannot attend the meeting,” Shah told DNA.

It is understood that the decision to not invite Saurashtra strongman was after duly considering his age, 73, which makes him disqualified to hold any position in the BCCI based on the Justice Lodha panel recommendations. In the past, whenever, Shah chaired the meeting, the COA have repeatedly questioned the motive behind it as after the SC verdict, the BCCI's sub-committee’s became neutralised.

Among those who are likely to attend the meeting includes BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, secretary Choudhary, former India batsman Dilip Vengsarkar and Debasis Mohanty.
