Mehuli Ghosh won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle event at the 21st Commonwealth Games

17-year-old shooting sensation Mehuli Ghosh won a silver medal in the10m air rifle event at the 21st Commonwealth Games. She represents India at the international junior shooting championships across the world. She was the only Indian among 123 competitors who reached the finals of junior shooting competition held in the Czech Republic in 2018. Mehuli finished seventh there.

She is trained by none other than former Indian Olympian and Arjuna Awardee, Joydeep Karmarkar. After her heroics at the Commonwealth Games, Coach Karmarkar said, "It's a happy moment for us. This was her maiden appearance in CWG and getting into the final and then bagging silver in shoot-off is creditable."

"Still, I will go low about it and I would like to say, being a coach and a technical person, there is much scope for improvement," he added.

Mehuli entered the CWG 2018 after bagging two bronze medals at the recently-concluded ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Mehuli hails from a small city Baidyabati, West Bengal and was declared the Best Shooter when she grabbed eleven medals at the 2017 National Championships.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded Mehuli for her outstanding performance at Commonwealth Games.
