The Indian contingent will aim to open their account in the Paris Paralympics 2024 medal tally on Friday (Aug 30) with strong medal prospects in para-athletics and shooting. In para-athletics, Karam Jyoti and Sakshi Kasana will compete in the women's discus throw F55 final and, thus, havea significant opportunity to finish at the top of the podium. Moreover, Preethi Pal will strive for a medal in the women's 100m T35 final whereas Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Avani Lekhara will participate in the qualification round on Friday. The final will take place later in the day.
In archery, Sarita will be up against Malaysia'sNur Jannaton Abdul JalilinRound of 32. Meanwhile,shuttlerssuch as Manasi Joshi and defending champion Krishna Nagarwill also be in action in group stage matches.
Manish Narwal is another key medal contender for Indiain the men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 category. Narwal, who returned with agold in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 at the Tokyo Games, will be desperate to replicate his success this time around as well.Overall, it is abusy day for India with a few medal events lined-up as well.

Notably, there are many medal-contenders for India in the Paris Paralympics. With the Indian contingent missing out on several medals in Paris Games 2024, the paralympic athletes will fight hard to bring more glory to the country in the ongoing edition.
In the last Paralympic edition, in Tokyo, India ended with an overall 19 medals, finishing at the 24th spot with five gold, eight silver and six bronze medals.
