India's Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bowl first against West Indies in the T20 series opener at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida on Saturday.
India are giving a senior international debut to fast-medium bowler Navdeep Saini as they seek to mould their squad with an eye as well on the World T20 tournament.
Meanwhile, injury-prone all-rounder Andre Russell was a late withdrawal and has been replaced in the squad by Jason Mohammed.
India's star opener Shikhar Dhawan, who was forced out of the World Cup in England six weeks ago with a fractured thumb, makes his return.
"The priority will always be winning, but in that process you need to try out combinations and trust your players and expect them to perform under pressure, that's what international cricket is all about," said Kohli at the time of toss.
"Walk into the team, cement your place, grab the opportunity with both hands, all of us have done that at some stage," he added.
