Police in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is keeping a close eye on social media cells after objectionable videos of women taking holy bath at the festival were shared on various groups of social media.&nbsp;

On Wednesday (Feb 19), two cases were registered against social media accounts for sharing and selling videos of women pilgrims taking bath in Triveni Sangam at the Maha Kumbh.&nbsp;

Police said in a statement that legal proceedings in the cases are underway to address the breaching of privacy and dignity of women devotees at the Maha Kumbh.

A flight carrying 12 Indian nationals, who were deported from the US to Panama, landed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. This group is the first to be repatriated from Panama, following the US deportation of approximately 299 illegal immigrants.
Due to challenges in deporting individuals directly to their countries of origin, the US is utilising Panama as a transit point. This means that migrants are being flown to Panama before being sent on to their final destinations.
The latest batch of deportees came aboard a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul. The group included four individuals from Punjab, three from Haryana, three from Uttar Pradesh, and one person whose identity has yet to be confirmed, according to Indian media reports.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the group of leaders that he said were "mocking religion" and "engaged in dividing people".
He further alleged that there were many instances of foreign powers attempting to weaken the sovereignty of the country by joining hands with these people.
While addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of the Bageshwar Dham Medical and Science Research Institute for Cancer in Chhattarpur, the prime minister said, "Nowadays we see that there is a group of leaders who mock religion, ridicule it, are engaged in dividing people, and many times foreign powers also try to weaken the country and religion by supporting these people. People who hate the Hindu faith have been living in some phase or the other for centuries."
PM Modi then fired back at the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's recent "Mrityu Kumbh" remarks, without directly naming anyone, "People who have fallen into the mentality of slavery keep attacking our faith, beliefs, and temples, our religion, culture, and principles. These people abuse our festivals, traditions, and customs. They dare to attack the religion and culture, which are progressive by nature. Dividing our society and breaking its unity is their agenda."
"At this time, Dhirendra Shastri has been making people aware of the mantra of unity in the country for a long time. Now, he has reached another resolution in the interest of society and humanity. Atishi became Delhi CM on September 21, 2024, after the resignation of her predecessor, Arvind Kejriwal.

After almost 24 hours, Sukhendu, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Deputy Commander, gave an important update on the rescue operations. He told the news agency ANI, "Yesterday at around 10 PM, we went inside the tunnel to analyse the situation. Out of the 13 km distance inside the tunnel, we covered 11 km on this locomotive and the remaining 2 km, we covered on the conveyor belt."&nbsp;
The official added that when the team reached the end of the TMV (Tunnel Boring Machine), they tried to establish contact with the trapped workers by calling out their names, but they could not find anything.&nbsp;

A 14-year-old student of a private school in India's Hyderabad city died by suicide on Saturday morning after allegedly being reprimanded and slapped by a teacher. The incident occurred around 9:30 am when the Physical Education teacher reportedly rebuked the Class 8 student in front of his classmates for allegedly turning in the direction of a CCTV camera. Class 8 student dies after jumping from school building on being 'slapped' by teacher

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticised Air India for poor service after his uncomfortable journey from Bhopal to Delhi on Saturday (Feb 22).
He was allotted a broken seat, which he found "uncomfortable to sit" in. Chouhan questioned Air India's management, asking if they would take steps to prevent such incidents, and expressed disappointment that the airline's service hadn't improved since Tata took over.
Taking to social media platform X, Chouhan shared his ordeal and said that he was travelling on Air India flight AI436 and was assigned seat 8C. Upon sitting, he realised the &ldquo;seat was broken and sunken in, making it extremely uncomfortable&rdquo;.

&ldquo;When I asked the airline staff why the seat was allotted to me if it was bad, they told me that the management had been informed earlier that this seat was not good and its ticket should not be sold. There are not just one such seat but many more. My co-passengers requested me to change my seat and sit on a better seat but why should I trouble another friend for my sake, I decided that I would complete my journey by sitting on this same seat,&rdquo; he wrote on X.
&ldquo;My impression was that Air India's service would have improved after Tata took over the management, but it turned out to be my misconception. I don't care about discomfort in sitting but it is unethical to make passengers sit on bad and uncomfortable seats after charging them full amount. Isn't this cheating the passengers?&rdquo; he added.

<h2 dir="ltr">Air India apologises</h2>
Chouhan urged Air India to take corrective action to prevent such issues for its travellers.
&ldquo;Will the Air India management take steps to ensure that no passenger faces such inconvenience in future or will it continue to take advantage of the passengers' compulsion to reach their destination early?&rdquo; he urged.

Following his post, Air India apologised for the inconvenience. "Dear Sir, we apologise for the inconvenience caused. Please be rest assured that we are looking into this matter carefully to prevent any such occurrences in the future. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you, kindly DM us a convenient time to connect," the airline wrote in its reply.
<h2 dir="ltr">DGCA&nbsp; instructs Air India to take necessary action</h2>
The Civil Aviation Ministry also stepped in, and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu responded to the incident. The Ministry said that Naidu has spoken to Chouhan in this regard.
"We spoke to Air India immediately on this issue and instructed them to take necessary action. From our side, DGCA will also be looking into details of the matter promptly. And I have personally spoken to Shivraj ji also," it said in a statement.
