Both leaders expressed satisfaction on the active Coast Guard-to-Coast Guard cooperation and committed to further deepen it by formalising the same through an MoU. They acknowledged active participation in each other&rsquo;s exhibitions and defence expos, and welcomed India-UAE Defence Partnership Forum which has the potential to result in strategic Joint Ventures and co-production projects benefiting both countries, also agreeing to focus on complementarities for the two countries in the Make-in-India and Make-in-Emirates initiatives.

A man driving under the influence of alcohol rammed his speeding SUV into several people and vehicles in a crowded lane of Rajasthan&rsquo;s Jaipur on Monday night, leaving three dead and several critically injured. The horrific CCTV visuals have surfaced of the speeding SUV crashing into several people in the Nahargarh area of Jaipur, near Santoshi Mata temple.&nbsp; In the now viral video, the speeding white car is seen ramming into several pedestrians and two-wheelers before fleeing. However, locals later surrounded the car, stopped it, and handed the driver over to the police. The driver was identified as Usman Khan, a factory owner and a member of the Congress party.&nbsp; The driver, Usman, was allegedly inebriated while driving, reported ANI, citing police officials. According to the police, the accused owns a factory in Jaipur&rsquo;s VKI Industrial Area. A case has been lodged against him under section 106 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The victims who died in the accident have been identified as Mamta Kanwar, 50, Awadhesh Pareek, 37, and Virendra Singh.

The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested two men, including a Pakistan-based man, in connection with the grenade attack outside the residence of BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar past midnight.&nbsp; A top Punjab Police officer termed the attack a &ldquo;major conspiracy&rdquo; aimed at disturbing communal harmony in the state.
Speaking at a press conference, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Arpit Shukla, revealed that one Zeeshan Akhtar and Pakistan-based Shahzed Bhatti are the key conspirators behind the attack.&nbsp; The police are probing their links with the banned Khalistani outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), he added.

CCTV footage showed the attacker arriving in an e-rickshaw, taking a U-turn after initially passing the house, and then throwing the grenade before fleeing from the spot.

During questioning, it was revealed that Shivani administered sleeping pills to Deepak to make him lose consciousness. She then allegedly strangled him and spent some time on the roof before taking him to the hospital, claiming he had a heart attack.

UP woman strangles husband to death, tells family he died of heart attack

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by 23 people over six days, with the accused drugging her and taking her to several hotels as they passed her on for abuse, police said here on Monday. Six of the accused have been arrested.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Cantonment, Vidush Saxena said the woman had gone out with some youths on March 29. Her family filed a missing report on April 4 when she did not return home.
When the police rescued her, she did not mention about the rape, he said.
However, the survivor's family on April 6 lodged a complaint alleging that she had been gang-raped.
The woman told the police that between March 29 and April 4, the accused allegedly took her to many hotels and hookah bars and gang-raped her, the officer said.
The police said 11 unnamed persons have also been booked. Out of 12 named accused, six were arrested on Sunday, and efforts are on to nab the rest of the accused.
The woman's mother in her complaint said that her daughter had gone to her friend's house on March 29. "On the way back home, she met a boy named Raj Vishwakarma, who took her to his cafe in Lanka, where Raj and his other friend did 'bad acts' with her.

"The next day, on March 31, a boy named Ayush along with his five other friends named Sohail, Danish, Anmol, Sajid and Zahir took her to Continental Cafe in Sigra and made her drink intoxicants and raped her one by one. On April 1, a boy named Sajid along with his friend took her to a hotel, where two-three other people were present.
"There, a man raped her and them threw her out. As she was leaving the place, she met a boy named Imran on the way, who also raped her in a hotel after making her drink intoxicants. Later, when the girl screamed, he left her outside the hotel," the mother alleged in her complaint to the police.
On April 2, a boy named Raj Khan took her to the roof of his house in Hukulganj where he tried to rape her after drugging her. When the woman screamed, the youths took her to Assi Ghat in an intoxicated state and left her there, her mother alleged.
On April 3, a person identified as Danish took her to his friend's room and there Sohail, Shoaib and some other boy drugged her daughter and raped her. Later, they left her near Chowkghat. The next day on April 4, her daughter came home and told them about her ordeal, the complainant said.
The named accused have been identified as Raj Vishwakarma, Sameer, Ayush, Sohail, Danish, Anmol, Sajid, Zahir, Imran, Jaib, Aman and Raj Khan.
A case has been registered under sections 70(1) (gang rape), 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 123 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 127(2) (wrongful confinement) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the police said.

If that was not enough, he further insisted she get down midway. Requesting the AC to be turned on during summer should not have been that big an ask, one may assume. But the Ola driver's behaviour says otherwise.
"He further intimidated me, asked me to get down from the car midway, and continued to threaten me by saying." The driver further threatened her, saying, 'keep watching of what happens from hereon'," she added.

<h2>Monday high temperatures</h2>
At Safdarjung, Delhi's base weather station, the mercury soared to 40.2 &deg;C. Ridge and Ayanagar weren't far behind, as per news agency PTI, they clocked in at 41 &deg;C. Even Palam and Lodhi Road, usually considered slightly cooler pockets, reported highs near 39 &deg;C, said the IMD.
This was officially the first heat wave of the season. The IMD defines a heatwave as a situation in which temperatures reach at least 40&deg;C in the plains or there's a deviation from normal of 4.5&deg;C to 6.4&deg;C.
"These conditions are likely to continue until April 9. From April 10 onwards, a drop in temperature is expected over Northwest India, including Delhi," said the weather agency in a statement.

At the same time, outstanding credit card debt in India has doubled&mdash;from Rs 1.4 lakh crore in 2020 to Rs 2.92 lakh crore in 2024. Annual credit card transactions also rose sharply, from Rs 6.3 lakh crore in FY21 to Rs 18.31 lakh crore in FY24.
Sanghi added that the number of active credit cards has grown to 10.88 crore as of January 2025, compared to 6.1 crore in 2021. Most of this debt is unsecured, and missed payments attract very high interest rates ranging from 42 to 46 percent annually. Amid summer, weather system brews in Bay of Bengal

India has found more than 93,000 tonnes of uranium resources in the past five years, said a government report on Thursday.&nbsp;
According to a written reply by Union Minister of State for Atomic Energy, Jitendra Singh, the uranium was discovered underground in four states Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Karnataka between 2020 and December 2024.
Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest amount with 60,659 tonnes, followed by Jharkhand with 27,156 tonnes. Smaller chunks were reported in Rajasthan and Karnataka. The discoveries were made by the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD), which is the organisation responsible for locating atomic minerals across the country.
To use these resources, the government has given initial approval to 13 projects. These include setting up new uranium mines and processing plants, as well as expanding existing facilities.
Once completed, these projects are expected to produce about 11.5 million tonnes of uranium ore per year, and 1,095 tonnes of uranium oxide (U3O8) annually. U3O8 is used as fuel in nuclear power plants.
However, these projects are currently in the early stages. The government is working on getting approvals from central and state authorities. Funds will be released after final project plans are prepared and all clearances are granted.

The Union Minister also confirmed the discovery of a new uranium deposit in Jharkhand&rsquo;s East Singhbhum district, in the Jaduguda North-Baglasai-Mechua area. This deposit is an extension of the Jaduguda uranium mine, one of the oldest in the country.
Officials say these new findings will help improve India&rsquo;s nuclear fuel supply and support the country&rsquo;s goal of generating clean energy through nuclear power, reducing the need for fuel imports.

The Indian Central government on Monday (Apr 7) announced that excise duty on petrol and diesel will be increased by Rs 2 per litre. According to the notification issued by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, the changes will come into force on Tuesday (Apr 8).
The duty on diesel is now at Rs 10 per litre while on petrol, it stands at Rs 13 per litre. Previously, the duties were Rs 8 per litre for diesel and Rs 11 per litre for petrol, according to the oil ministry data.

The man was seen walking fast, trying to chase the women; he grabbed one of the two and touched her inappropriately, and the women were trying to fight back. The other lady pulled her friend to safety away from the man; he eventually was seen fleeing the scene. All this was captured on the CCTV footage, which was installed in her lane.
The police are trying to nab the man, and an investigation is underway. The timestamp on the footage showed 1:52 AM. No report has been filed by the victim as yet. After learning details from the CCTV footage, police have registered a suo motu case; until then, the investigation to look for the perpetrator continues.

Chaos broke out in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday (Apr 7) after members of the National Conference and its allies protested against the enactment of the Waqf amendment bill.
The members also voiced dissent over speaker Abdul Rahim Rather's decision to dismiss the adjournment motion on the Waqf Amendment Act.

PDP leader Waheed Para said, "When Article 370 and CAA were in the court, we brought a resolution, and many states brought it. Today, we want to register our protest against the Waqf Bill, but unfortunately, the Speaker rejected the resolution. They are playing a fixed match. By not opposing this bill today, it has been shown that the Jammu and Kashmir government is compromising on the issues of Kashmir and Muslims."

This comes after President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, 2025. Both bills were passed by Parliament during the budget session.
The Law Ministry notifications, issued on Saturday (Apr 5), stated that the President gave her assent to both the bills.
The Rajya Sabha, on Friday (Apr 4), passed the bill with 128 votes in favour and 95 against. The Lok Sabha, on the other hand, cleared the bill after a lengthy debate, with 288 members voting in favour and 232 opposing it.
