The other lady pulled her friend to safety away from the man; he eventually was seen fleeing the scene. All this was captured on the CCTV footage, which was installed in her lane.

The police are trying to nab the man, and an investigation is underway. The timestamp on the footage showed 1:52 AM. No report has been filed by the victim as yet. Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal finally ended his indefinite hunger strike on Sunday.&nbsp; Dallewal, who is in his 70s and is cancer-stricken, had started his fast unto death on November 26 last year to press for various demands of farmers, including a legal guarantee on the minimum support price for crops.
Dallewal announced that he was ending his indefinite fast at a &lsquo;Kisan Mahapanchayat&rsquo; organised at Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. &ldquo;You (farmers) all have asked me to end the fast unto death. I am indebted to you for taking care of the agitation. I respect your sentiments. I accept your order,&rdquo; said Dallewal while addressing the farmers.

Dallewal is a senior leader of a joint forum of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM).&nbsp;
After the Centre invited the farmer leaders for talks in January, Dallewal started taking medical aid at the Khanauri protest site but did not end his fast.

Seven people have lost their lives after receiving treatment from a fake cardiologist at a missionary hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district, triggering outrage and prompting the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to launch an investigation.
A team of NHRC officials led by member Priyank Kanoongo will visit Damoh from April 7 to 9 to probe into the matter.

A complaint was filed with the NHRC by a local resident, Deepak Tiwari, who alleged that the accused, identified as Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, impersonated a renowned UK cardiologist, Professor John Camm. Yadav claimed to have foreign qualifications and had been treating patients in the hospital&rsquo;s cardiology department for the past one-and-a-half months.

The complaint said that several patients have died at the hospital between January and February after receiving incorrect treatment provided by an unqualified and unauthorised doctor in the cardiology department of Damoh's Mission Hospital. It added that the hospital, which is part of the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Yojana, misused the government funds.&nbsp;
Damoh collector Sudhir Kochar confirmed receiving a complaint regarding the matter. He added that an investigation is currently underway and further action will be taken based on the findings.

- According to the ministry, the new Pamban Bridge shares similarities with other globally recognized bridges that include the Golden Gate Bridge in the United States, Tower Bridge in London, and the Oresund Bridge in Denmark-Sweden.

History, significance of Anuradhapura
Anuradhapura is a Buddhist pilgrim city and a World Heritage Property. It is also the birthplace of Theravada Buddhism which is the dominant religion in Sri Lanka, including Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday tabled the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Rajya Sabha, asserting that the proposed legislation is not against Muslims or intended to hurt their religious feelings.&nbsp;
Rijiju noted that the bill seeks to improve the functioning of Waqf properties, address the complexities, ensure transparency and introduce technology-driven management. &nbsp;

Tabling the Bill in the Upper House, Rijiju said the proposed legislation has nothing to do with religion but deals only with properties. The bill was examined and redrafted by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).&nbsp;
Rijiju said that the Bill aims to include all the Muslim sects in the Waqf board and there were 4.9 lakh Waqf properties in 2004, which have now increased to 8.72 lakh. Rijiju said it aims to accomplish the unfulfilled tasks of the previous governments as he sought the opposition's support to pass the Bill.&nbsp;
He also said that Waqf owns the largest chunk of properties in the country, leaving aside those owned by the defence and railways.&nbsp;
While responding to the charges made by the opposition, Rijiju said, "The Bill is not against Muslims... We don't want to hurt anyone's religious sentiments. The Waqf board is set up only to oversee, and not manage, Waqf properties." "The government has introduced the Bill with a good intention, and thus renamed it as 'UMEED'. The BSF has started the investigation to ascertain the identity and motive of the intruder.
&ldquo;The identity and motive of the intruder are being ascertained. Vigilant BSF troops thwarted an infiltration attempt. A strong protest is being lodged with counterparts across the border over the incident,&rdquo; said BSF.
The BSF will be taking up the issue with the Pakistan Army.

A man in Noida killed his wife with a hammer on Friday (April 4), suspecting her of having an affair. He then walked two kilometres to the police station and confessed to the crime. Family members said that Noor-ul-lah Haider and Asma Khan had argued the previous night, and the next day, around noon, he locked their bedroom door.
Haider, a computer engineering graduate, put a pillow over his wife's mouth to muffle her screams and bludgeoned her to death with a hammer, smashing it repeatedly. Fifty-five-year-old Haider lived with his family in a two-storey house in Sec 15. Asma, 42, worked as a civil engineer at a private firm in Sector 62, Noida.&nbsp;
The couple has two children: 19-year-old boy Samad, who is a BTech student at Amity University, and 12-year-old Inaya.

The police said Haider suspected that his wife was having an extra marital affair. The couple had been having regular arguments for the past few days, Asma's family members said. She called her sister, Farida, at 5 am on Friday following the night-long quarrel with her husband.&nbsp;
Following the call, Farida and other relatives went to Asma&rsquo;s house, where they talked to the couple for over five hours. They all left around 11 am, Farida's husband Nadeem said.
However, Asma's mother, Husnara Begum, stayed back to try and ease the situation. Things quietened down after everyone left, and Asma and Haider went back to their room. "It was then that he locked the door from inside and killed her,&rdquo; Nadeem said.

Nadeem learned of Asma's death at 1 pm on Friday when Samad called him with the tragic news. "When Farida asked what had happened, Samad said his father killed her, and she was lying in a pool of blood on the bed,&rdquo; Nadeem, who lives in Delhi, said.
"By the time we reached Noida, police had been informed."
He said that Haider reportedly killed Asma around noon when they were in their room. "It is suspected that he covered her face with a pillow and repeatedly hit her on the head with a hammer."
<h2>Haider walked 2 km to the police station and confessed</h2>
"After the murder, Haider walked over 2km to the Sector 20 police station to surrender. He informed officers at the station that he had killed his wife over suspicions of an affair," Amit Kumar Maan, station house officer of Phase 1 police station, said.
They then informed the Phase 1 police, who rushed to his home. &ldquo;A case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Phase 1 police station, and the body has been sent for an autopsy,&rdquo; Maan said.
"Haider accepted that he killed his wife over suspicion of an affair. He did not express any remorse for his act," Additional deputy commissioner of police, Noida, Sumit Shukla, said.
