According to the police, the incident took place between 7:30 pm and 10:50 pm on Wednesday.&nbsp;A five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by Kolkata police to investigate the case, PTI reported, citing a senior officer.&nbsp;The woman, who was reportedly the TMCP’s women’s wing secretary in the college, had gone to the college to fill out forms for an upcoming examination. In her complaint, she stated that the accused, Mishra, asked her to stay back for some discussions. Mishra allegedly proposed marriage to the student, which she declined, saying that she had a boyfriend. However, the accused then tried to force himself on her.&nbsp;A medical examination confirmed the allegations of gang-rape made by the woman. According to the report, doctors found evidence of “forceful penetration, bite marks, and nail scratches” on her body. The survivor said in her complaint that the main accused ignored her requests to let her go.&nbsp;“I touched his feet, but he did not let me go, but he did not listen,” she said in her statement. “He asked the other two to take me inside the guard’s room and make the guard sit outside. They did so.”&nbsp;According to the CCTV footage from the scene, the security was loitering outside, but did not attempt to help the victim, inform the college authorities or report the crime.&nbsp;The incident has caused massive outrage across West Bengal. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed that the key accused, Mishra, was a key office-bearer of the student wing of the ruling party, Trinamool Congress (TMC). His leadership during the operation paved the way for intelligence-led targeting with years of groundwork and secretive network development.&nbsp;<h2>Who is Parag Jain?</h2>&nbsp;Parag Jain has worked in several key operations related to Pakistan and terrorism. His body was recovered near a rundown tube well in a guava orchard on the outskirts of the village."During questioning, the two teenagers confessed to the crime, saying that they needed a high-quality mobile phone to make better reels. They admitted to planning the murder four days earlier, specifically targeting Shadab's iPhone," said the Police to PTI.&nbsp;The accused were sent to a juvenile reform home in Gonda. &nbsp;The police have recovered the murder weapon, the iPhone and the bloodstained brick.According to the Police, the murder happened on June 20, and Shadab was reported missing on June 21. A case has been registered against the two minors and their relatives under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (concealment of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). One relative was also arrested on June 27 for helping the teenagers hide the murder weapon and other evidence, while another one is still on the run. This comes amid increased scrutiny over safety concerns in Boeing aircraft after the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that killed 241 people.&nbsp;According to the TOI report citing sources, the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET640 experienced a depressurisation problem mid-air while it was flying over the Arabian Sea at an altitude of 33,000 feet. Following the issue, the pilots executed a rapid descent to a lower altitude, according to the data from Flightradar24.&nbsp;“On landing, seven passengers were attended to by the airport medical team for decompression-related symptoms, out of which one required hospitalisation,” a source told the media outlet.&nbsp;For human survival, it is essential that the aircraft cabins are sealed and pressurised with conditioned air and oxygen. This allows planes to fly at higher altitudes where oxygen levels are low. However, on rare occasions, the pressurisation system can face issues. This would result in the pressure and oxygen level in the cabin to drop, following which oxygen masks will be deployed from the overhead panel.&nbsp;In a similar incident on June 24, seven people onboard an Air India flight fell ill. The passengers on the flight AI 130, which was travelling from London to Mumbai, experienced food poisoning symptoms, including nausea and dizziness.&nbsp;The airlines confirmed the incident, saying that five passengers and two crew members had fallen ill. Two of the people, who continued feeling ill until the landing, received medical attention after the plane landed. The incident is under investigation. An airline official suggested that it could be due to a gradual decrease in cabin pressure or slow decompression.

The government has proposed to make it mandatory for the two-wheeler manufacturers to provide two helmets at the time of vehicle purchase. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed important changes to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 to make this new rule come into effect. According to an official notification by the government, this rule will become mandatory within three months after the final notification of the new amendment rules is published in the official gazette. As per the draft notification released by the government on June 23, 2025, the new rule aims to enhance road safety for both riders and pillion passengers. The notification said "At the time of purchase of the two wheeler, three months from the date of commencement of Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2025, the manufacturer of the two wheeler shall supply two protective headgears conforming to specifications prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards at the time of purchase of a two wheeler".&nbsp;The helmets provided must meet the quality standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). However, this requirement will not apply to individuals who are exempted under Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act.In addition to the helmet provision, the government has also proposed another safety measure. From January 1, 2026, all new L2 category two-wheelers, which include motorcycles and scooters with engine capacity above 50cc or top speeds exceeding 50 km/h--will need to be fitted with Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS).&nbsp;The ABS must comply with Indian Standard IS14664:2010, ensuring better control and reduced chances of skidding, especially during sudden braking. The proposed rules are currently open for public feedback. Citizens and stakeholders have been given 30 days from the date of publication to send in their suggestions or objections. Inputs can be shared with the Ministry by email at comments-morth@gov.in.&nbsp;These steps are part of the government's continuous effort to improve road safety across the country. The notification said "At the time of purchase of the two wheeler, three months from the date of commencement of Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2025, the manufacturer of the two wheeler shall supply two protective headgears conforming to specifications prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards at the time of purchase of a two wheeler". The helmets provided must meet the quality standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). However, this requirement will not apply to individuals who are exempted under Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act. In addition to the helmet provision, the government has also proposed another safety measure. From January 1, 2026, all new L2 category two-wheelers, which include motorcycles and scooters with engine capacity above 50cc or top speeds exceeding 50 km/h--will need to be fitted with Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS). The ABS must comply with Indian Standard IS14664:2010, ensuring better control and reduced chances of skidding, especially during sudden braking. The proposed rules are currently open for public feedback. Citizens and stakeholders have been given 30 days from the date of publication to send in their suggestions or objections. A total of 19 cars from Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav's convoy had to be towed on Thursday (June 26) as water was filled in instead of diesel. The incident took place at a petrol pump in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district where the chief minister was supposed to visit an event on Friday (June 27), news agency PTI reported. The vehicles, which had traveled from Indore, broke down a short while after refueling in Ratlam, after which they were towed. The incident was captured on a video wherein the SUVs were towed by the drivers as well as petrol pump attendants.&nbsp;The petrol pump was subsequently sealed due to fuel contamination. One of the drivers of the convoy said that the vehicles were traveling from Indore to Ratlam and stopped at the petrol pump for refueling. "We had filled the tank with diesel. Some cars left after refueling and had broken down after driving nearly 1 km, while the rest of them broke down here," said one of the driver. According to reports, more than 250 litres of adulterated diesel were filled in the cars from a local petrol pump. Although the staff at the petrol pump ruled out the possibility of supplying spurious diesel, the hunch of the officials intensified after a local resident showed them a bottle filled from the same petrol pump – whose layers of diesel and water were clearly visible.&nbsp;The employees of the food and civil supplies department promptly took samples and tested them, confirming the presence of water in the diesel being supplied by the in question pump. "Whole issue is being investigated, but the exact amount of water cannot be quantified right away. The inventory at the pump is being verified and results will be tallied in the comprehensive report to Ratlam district collector," a senior official of the food and civil supplies department Anand Gole was quoted saying to the media.

The incident took place at a petrol pump in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district where the chief minister was supposed to visit an event on Friday (June 27), news agency PTI reported. The vehicles, which had traveled from Indore, broke down a short while after refueling in Ratlam, after which they were towed. The incident was captured on a video wherein the SUVs were towed by the drivers as well as petrol pump attendants. The petrol pump was subsequently sealed due to fuel contamination. One of the drivers of the convoy said that the vehicles were traveling from Indore to Ratlam and stopped at the petrol pump for refueling.
