The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), India’s newest greenfield airport to begin commercial operations on 25 December 2025. 

With the Navi Mumbai airport, Mumbai enters the league of international big cities like London, Paris, New York that are served by more than one airport. 

In the first month, the new airport will operate for 12 hours between 08:00 hrs and 20:00 hrs, handling 23 scheduled daily departures with one runway. 

Approximately 120 air traffic movements (ATMs) daily in the initial phase. 

The first arrival and departure flights to be operated by IndiGo, followed by Air India Express and Akasa Air and will connect to 16 major domestic destinations.&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2>Here's the list:</h2>&nbsp;

Starting February 2026, the airport will transition to round-the-clock operations, expanding to 34 daily departures to meet the increasing needs of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). 

It is also twice the size of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

It is being developed in phases by Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd, a joint venture where the Adani Group owns 74% and the remaining 26% is held by CIDCO, Maharashtra’s urban development authority.

Navi Mumbai International Airport will be the first aerodrome in the country to be connected by expressways, highways, metros, suburban rails, and even water taxi. 

Spanning over 1,160 hectares (2,866 acres), on completion, NMIA is designed to handle 90
million passenger per annum (MPPA).&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2>

Why there was a need of a second airport?&nbsp;</h2>&nbsp;

Mumbai’s current Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) handles about 55 million passengers a year but cannot grow further. 

Despite having two runways, their intersection limits operations to one at a time. 

On peak days, the airport manages more than 1,000 flights in 24 hours, well above its designed capacity. 

Hence, by 2030, both airports are expected to handle 50-60 million passengers each. 

One, the NMIA gets operational, then these two airports together will cater to the almost 150 million passengers per annum, making the two airports a big aviation hub globally.&nbsp;

A bus carrying over 45 Indian Umrah pilgrims from Hyderabad collided with a diesel tanker near the holy city of Medina in Saudi Arabia on Monday (Nov 17). More than 42 people were charred to death in the accident, which took place while the bus was travelling from Mecca to Medina. The crash took place around 1:30 AM, causing the bus to catch fire when many passengers were asleep, giving them little time to escape.&nbsp;Out of the passengers in the ill-fated bus, only one passenger made a lucky escape with injuries, while all others were killed on the spot due to the heavy collision. It is learnt that a group of 54 people travelled from Hyderabad to Jeddah on November 9th on a pilgrimage. According to NIA, the Hyundai i20 car involved in the attack in Delhi’s busy street last week was registered in Amir’s name. He was nabbed in Delhi after the case was formally handed over to the agency from the Delhi Police.The investigation revealed that Amir, who hails from Samboora, Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir, planned the Delhi attack with Umar, the driver of the car that exploded near the iconic Red Fort. The NIA said that Amir allegedly came to Delhi to help buy the car, adding that it was later used as a vehicle-borne IED to cause the deadly blast. The NIA also seized another car belonging to Nabi, which is being checked for evidence.The NIA is working with police from Delhi, Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir, UP and other agencies. The agency said it is working on multiple leads to reveal the full conspiracy behind the bombing and identify others involved in the terror activities.Meanwhile, the 32nd Northern Zonal Council meeting started in Faridabad on Monday. Security agencies have continued to trace the final moments of the Delhi blast near Red Fort which killed 10 people and injured 32 others. Incidentally, Paswan and Ranajt are both now MP and members of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2>About the film Miley Naa Miley Hum</h2>&nbsp;Paswan featured in a film called Miley Naa Miley Hum which had him playing an aspiring tennis player who falls in love with Anishka (Kangana), a model, against his parents' wishes. The movie also starred Kabir Bedi and Poonam Dhillon as his parents and also starred Sagarika Ghatge, Neeru Bajwa, Dilip Tahil, and Suresh Menon.Miley Naa Miley Hum was a major flop at the box office. It could not even earn Rs 1 crore at the box office and had an extremely short run in the cinemas. We have information which could be wrong, also that the amount of ₹10,000 given to women in the state was given from ₹21,000 crores, which came from the World Bank for some other project," Sing was quoted as saying by ANI.&nbsp;"An hour before the moral code of conduct for the polls, ₹14,000 crores were taken out and distributed to 1.25 crore women in the state," he further said.&nbsp;However, he did say the claims made by them could come out to be wrong.&nbsp;“As I have said, this is our information. If it is wrong, I seek forgiveness. But if it is true, then the question arises as to how far this is ethical. It is possible that, legally, you cannot do anything. The government can divert funds and later give explanations. Explanation will come after the election. There are upcoming polls in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and other BJP-ruled states.
