Watch: UP CM Adityanath on cleanliness drive at Taj complex
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath reached Agra amid tight security today and quickly kicked off a cleanliness drive at Shahjahan garden in the famous Taj Mahal complex.
The UP chief minister had recently said it does not matter who or why the Taj was built, the fact is it was built by the blood and sweat of Indian labourers.
The Taj Mahal has been in the news recently after BJP MLA Sangeet Som had said that the Taj was a blot on Indian culture.
In July at a BJP rally in Bihar, Adityanath had said the Taj Mahal was not comparable to the Bhagwad Gita and the Ramayan.
Adityanath had complained about the practice of gifting visiting foreign dignitaries replicas of the Taj, adding that PM Modi's practice of gifting the Indian scripture Bhagwad Gita and the epic Ramayan to foreign dignitaries was commendable.
Over 14,000 policemen have been deployed across the city as UP chief minister arrived early this morning. Adityanath is BJP's first UP chief minister to visit the Taj Mahal.
