
The Triple talaq bill will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha during the second proceedings of the House on Monday.
Amid the huge uproar by the opposition over the bill and other issues, the Deputy Chairman had earlier called off the parliament proceedings and adjourned the upper house of the Parliament till 2 pm.
As soon as papers were laid, AIADMK members had trooped into the well of House raising the Cauvery issue and shouting slogans "We want Justice". Some DMK members too were on their feet.
Meanwhile, PM Modi also held a high-level meeting with Party PresidentAmit Shah, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss thetriple talaq bill.
The leaders of the opposition parties, earlier today, held a meeting in the Rajya Sabha ahead of the tabling of the bill.
The opposition has been demanding to send the bill to an 11-member Select Committee for further assessment after its passage from the Lok Sabha last week.
The Trinamool Congress has already movedfor the reference of the bill to the Select Committee of Rajya Sabha.
The bill, that makes the practice of instant divorce among Muslims a criminal offence with a provision of three-year jail term for the erring husband, was passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday withthe support of 245 votes against 11 on Thursday.
The government brought the measure after a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court termed as unconstitutional the practice that allowed Muslim men to divorce their wives by simply uttering the word 'talaq' three times in quick succession.
