Swiggy Instamart’s quirky campaign during the Maharashtra elections has gone viral on social media, leaving customers in Mumbai amused with their delivery. The online delivery store has been sending some customers free Indian round gourds with their orders.

When a customer received free round gourds or ‘tinday’ in her Swiggy Instamart order, she shared it on X with the image of the packaging. The new campaign is aimed at urging people to vote in the Maharashtra assembly elections.

The message written on the paper bag highlightedthe importance of voting otherwise they will be stuck with the wrong leaders they did not wish to elect, urging them to cast their vote.

“Didn’t choose tinday but stuck with tinday? That’s what happens when someone else makes the choice for you,” the message said. “Cast your vote. Own your choices.”

“Instamart randomly gave free tinday with my delivery today and a rather fun message also. You already know the rhyming word,” The customer wrote on X, referring to the wordplay by Swiggy Instamart which rhymes with the name of the current chief minister of Maharastra, Eknath Shinde.

Maharashtra elections

The voting for the Maharashtra assembly elections started at 7 am on November 20 and will be closed at 6 pm. The polling is taking place in a single phase in 288 constituencies.

The state has seen a fierce battle for power with ideological conflicts and shifting alliances. The current election results will be the deciding factor between the two primary alliances: the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which comprises BJP, Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) which includes the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).
