Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust confirmed the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra amid the Ram Temple donation theft probe, saying it is shocked and deeply saddened by recent developments.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Saturday (Jun 27) confirmed that its general secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra have tendered their resignation amid an investigation into alleged donation theft at the temple. This comes following confusion over the resignation of Rai after Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday (Jun 26) said that it had no knowledge of the news, dismissing media reports.
In a statement, the Trust said that it was “shocked, hurt, and deeply saddened by the incidents that have come to light in Shri Ram Temple (Ayodhya) over the past few days.”
“The Trust has received a resignation letter from Shri Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra (Trust), and from Trustee Shri Anil Mishra. The Trust will consider the matter in its upcoming meeting,” it added.
Reassuring devotees, the Trust said that all donated silver bricks, ornaments and other offerings made to the temple were safe and properly documented.
“The Trust assures those devotees who personally handed over silver bricks, ornaments, and other items to the Trust officials as offerings in the service of Lord Shri Ram that these items are safely available along with proper records,” the statement read.
It aded that it was “committed to ensuring a fair investigation and reassuring the devotees” as “representatives of all devotees of Lord Ram and the volunteers serving here.”

Regarding the alleged misappropriation of the donation funds, the Trust said that it has lodged an FIR based on the interim report submitted by the SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh administration. It added that legal proceedings are underway.
“We assure everyone that we will ensure that such unfortunate situations do not arise in the future. We will insist that the perpetrators receive the harshest punishments, as appropriate by law. We will not allow the attempts by antisocial, irreligious, and selfish elements to tarnish Sanatan Dharma to succeed. Please refrain from the misleading and baseless rumors being spread, and do not let others fall prey to them,” it said.
