Punjab toddler who vomited blood after consuming expired chocolates is in critical condition

The health condition of a Punjab toddler seriously deteriorated after she consumed expired chocolates purchased from a local grocery store. The one-and-a-half-year-old girl from Ludhiana was rushed to hospital after she vomited blood. The girl had gone to Patiala with her parents at her relatives’ place. One of her relatives then bought her a packet of chocolates from the grocery store.

However, upon consuming the chocolates, the girl started bleeding from her mouth. She was immediately taken to Christian Medical College in critical condition. Preliminary medical tests indicated that the girl’s health deteriorated due to consumption of a poisonous substance.

Subsequently, the family filed a complaint with the state health department and local police. An investigation is underway into the matter.

Meanwhile, a team of state health department went to the grocery store to collect the samples. The department later confirmed that the shop sold expired eatables. Other expired snacks were also seized from the shop.

The owner of the shop, however, said he had no knowledge of the products being expired.

Police said strict action would be taken against the shop owner if found guilty. Expired food products can be harmful, especially for young children whose immune systems are still developing. Consuming expired food can lead to food poisoning and other serious health issues.

A similar incident emerged in Patiala last month when a 10-year-old girl died after consuming a poisonous cake on her birthday. Other members of her family had also fallen ill but survived.

An investigation later found that the bakery from where the cake was ordered was not registered with the authorities and was running under a fake name.
