The Indian Army is hosting two major events at high-altitude areas of Ladakh aimed at revolutionising drone operations in one of the world’s most difficult terrains.
The HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2 event is being held in Ladakh’s Wari La pass from September 17 to 18, where more than 20 domestic drone makers have been invited to showcase drone solutions for high-altitude applications. The Wari La Pass is located at an altitude of over 15,000 feet where operating drones is comparatively difficult.
Following HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2, another event named HIMTECH-2024 will be held from September 20-21.

The Indian Army said in a statement, “The two initiatives are aimed at harnessing cutting-edge technologies that have been specifically designed to enhance the army's capabilities in some of the world's most challenging terrains.”
The products and drones showcased in the events “span across domains of surveillance, logistics, loitering munitions, swarm and FPV (first-person view) operations," wrote Indian Army's Fire and Fury Corps on X.

Following this, the HIMTECH-2024 event will make its debut at the high-altitude location from September 20-21.
A statement from the Ministry of Defence earlier this month said, “The event is aimed at focusing and highlighting development of technology and systems to meet operational requirements along the northern borders.”
"The event will provide a platform to Indian industries to showcase a wide range of the equipment and technologies comprising modern unmanned systems, all terrain mobility solutions, autonomous systems and advanced soldier systems," the statement added.
