Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mehmood to India who was summoned by the government in the wake of "harassment" row will return to India on Friday, reports said.

The Pakistan envoy will be hosting the 'Pakistan National Day' function at the High Commission in Delhi on Friday.

The Pakistan government has accused India of harassing its diplomats and their families in the country. India's Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh was summoned by Pak authorities a few weeks over the issue.

A demarche was earlier made to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and the external affairs ministry in Delhi.

As the "harassment" row escalated, the Pakistan government summoned Sohail Mehmood to Islamabad in an attempt to keep the focus on the issue.

In a similar incident, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad sent a note verbale to the Pakistan foreign ministry on continuing "harassment" and "intimidation" of Indian officials and staff members.

Reports said the vehicles of India's Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah including the military attaché, air attaché and naval attaché was aggressively "tailed" on motorbikes at close proximity in Pakistan.

Indian officials asked Pakistani authorities to look into the incident.
