An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Nawakadal area of Srinagar on the intervening night of 18-19 May, according to police sources.
As per reports a joint team of Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation in Kanemazar area of Nawakadal.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
Jammu and Kashmir police tweeted about the encounter from its official Twitter handle.
