
Five people were killed In Uttarakhand's Almora district after a bus fell into a 50-feet deep gorge on Thursday.
According to a report, twenty-one others were also injured. There were about thirty people in the bus.
The accident took place on Bhatrojkhan-Bhikiyasan route near Mohanri.
"A Garhwal Motor Owners Union (GMOU) bus plying between Ramnagar to Gairsan fell off the road into a 50-feet deep gorge near Bhatrojkhan Mohanri," a police official was quoted as saying by ANI.
Senior officials have reached the spot and injured have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand has been hit by heavy rain. A rescue team was rushed to the Chamoli district after a cloudburst caused flash floods in the area.
The torrential rains have washed away the only bridge built on a river forcing people to cross the river using a rope-- a temporary arrange putting lives of locals at risk.
Chamoli District Magistrate Swati Bhadoria said the village administration has been directed to build a bridge at the earliest.
