Argentina great Lionel Messi added another feather to his illustrious hat on Monday (Jul15) with his national side's Copa America 2024 triumph. In the mega final, at theHard Rock Stadium in Miami, Argentina locked horns with Colombia and beat them 1-0 to win their second successive title. Following this victory, Messi created history by becoming the most decorated footballer with as many as 45 titles (with both club and country) to his name. This way, he surpassed Brazil'sDani Alves' tally (44). Messi, who is in the last phase of his glorious career, has been on a trophy-winning spree especially at the international level since 2021, winning the Copa twice,a Finalissimaand the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Talking about Messi's 45 titles, 39 have come at the club level. His accolades include 12 league titles (10 with Barcelona, two with PSG), four UEFA Champions Leagues (all with the Spanish club Barcelona), and 17 domestic cups (15 with Barca, one apiece with PSG and his current club Inter Miami). In addition, he has won the UEFA Super Cup on three occasions along with winning the FIFA Club World Cup on an equal number of times as well. With Argentina, Messi's memorable wins include the 2005 U-17 World Cup, the 2008 Olympic Games, the 2021 Copa America, the 2022 Finalissima, the 2022 World Cup and now the 2024 Copa title as well.
