The 2024 BET Awards saw an electrifying performance from South African singer Tyla, who brought a touch of her homeland to the stage at the Peacock Theater on Sunday(Jun30). The 22-year-old artist wowed the audience with a dynamic performance of her latest hit, "Jump," featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.
Dressed in a striking brown two-piece bra and skirt set paired with black thigh-high boots, the "Water" singer turned up the heat. Her stage presence was amplified by a cage filled with dancers painted as a giant tiger, a subtle homage to her dedicated fanbase, the Tygers.
Tyla's high-energy performance ended with her signature viral "Water" dance move. Gunna and Skillibeng joined her on stage. The performance also paid tribute to Tyla's Johannesburg roots, blending cultural elements with contemporary beats.

This year, Tyla received four nominations at the BET Awards and took home wins for Best New Artist and Best International Act.
Tyla's recent BET performance comes months after she had to cancel her debut concert tour in March due to an injury. At the time, she shared her struggles publicly, revealing, "For the past year I've been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened." Despite consulting with doctors and specialists, the pain had only increased, leading her to prioritize her long-term health.
Meanwhile, in an interview with People in March, Tyla expressed her determination to return with an unforgettable show. "We were giving them an experience, not just a show. We always try to do things that are different and more interesting. When we do get back to working on the tour, we have so many ideas, and it's just going to be amazing."
Tyla got her first Grammy award in February for Best African Music Performance for "Water." The breakthrough hit reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
