Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet starrer Dune series is widening its global presence. Based on the Dune expansive universe, the Max prequel series titled Dune: Prophecy has cast Indian actress Tabu in a recurring role. A Variety report states that it will be a huge role for Tabu which is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune.
The Max series was originally commissioned in 2019 under the title Dune: The Sisterhood. Inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune which is written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, the story of the series is “set within the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’”.
The story of Dune is created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert and is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides.
What is Dune: Prophecy all about?
Dune: Prophecy “follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit,” according to the official logline.
What will Tabu’s role be?
Tabu will star as Sister Francesca. It will be a recurring role. The character is described as - “Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital.”
Tabu is a celebrated Indian actor. She has won the National Film Award for Best Actress twice – one for Maachis and the other for Chandni Bar. It is the highest film honour for artists in India. She has starred in several hit films and has an expansive filmography.

Star cast of Dune: Prophecy
Dune: Prophecy will also star actors Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin.
Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John co-developed the series and serves as executive producer. Anna Foerster executive-produced and directed multiple episodes including the first.
The series is co-produced by Max and Legendary Television with Legendary also producing the film franchise. The series is yet to set a premiere date.
As for the larger Dune universe, there have been two films to date. A third Dune film is in the works.
