Known as one of the few actors who made an equal marking in Hollywood as his work in Bollywood industry, here are few of his most memorable works in TV.

Irrfan Khan boomed to become a celebrated actor after he was noticed in ‘Chandrakanta’. He played the role of twin brothers Badrinath and Somnath. It was partly based on Devaki Nandan Khatri's novel of the same name .

‘Banegi Apni Baat’ was a cult show based on college and youth life. Irrfan played the role of a guy named Kumar as the show explored topics of flirtation, romance at the campus. Did you know R Madhavan started his acting career with this series?
Irrfan Khan (1967-2020): The man who spoke a thousand words through his eyes
Chanakya:
The actor played the role of Senapati Bhadrashaal in ‘Chanakya’. It was a 47-part historical drama that aired from 8 September 1991to 9 August 1992.
Bharat Ek Khoj:
‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ was a 53-episode Indian historical drama based on the book The Discovery of India. Irrfan Khan made his acting debut with an episode on the show.
Laal Ghaas Par Neela Ghode:
Irrfan was also seen in a teleplay on Doordarshan named ‘Laal Ghaas Par Neele Ghode’ where he played Lenin. It was based on a translation by Uday Prakash of a Russian play by Mikhail Shatrov.
Darr:
He was the main villain in a series called ‘Darr’, where he played the role of a psycho serial killer, opposite Kay Kay Menon.
Kahkashan:
A young Irrfan was also seen playing the role of famous revolutionary Urdu poet and Marxist political activist of India Makhdoom Mohiuddin in ‘Kahkashan’. It was produced by Ali Sardar Jafri. This television series was about six great masters of modern Urdu and Islamic poetry. You can see Irrfan humming nazms in the entire length of the show in Urdu.
Apart from these, Irrfan also starred in shows like Star Bestsellers, Bhanvar. Theatre also kept him busy until he landed himself a role in ‘Salaam Bombay’ by Mira Nair and there was no looking back after it.
