
Acting and filmmaking were in Rishi Kapoor's genes. His grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor was a renowned actor and one of the early stars of Hindi cinema. Rishi's father, the late Raj Kapoor was noted actor and filmmaker who established the famous RK Films. Rishi may have made a mark as an actor in numerous films, but he directed only one film in his entire career.
Titled 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen' - which is also a famous Raj Kapoor song- the film released in 1999 and featured Akshaye Khanna, Aishwarya Rai and Rajesh Khanna in key roles. The film was produced by RK Films- the last film from the banner made.
Written by Sachin Bhowmik and Rumi Jaffery, the film was set in America and had Akshaye Khanna going to America in search of a livelihood and eventually through a course of the film meeting his father(Rajesh Khanna) who had abandoned him and his mother many years back.
'Aa Ab Laut Chalen' was produced by Rishi's brothers Randhir and Rajiv Kapoor. In his illustrious career spanning over five decades- 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen' was the only film that he had directed.The film had done decent business at the box office.
On Thursday, as the news of Rishi Kapoor's death broke- the film's leading lady Aishwarya Rai Bachchan paid a warm tribute to the late actor on Instagram.
Aishwarya began her post by dedicating a message to Neetu and then poured her heart out about how she will forever remember Rishi Kapoor: "So much love for you... and from you my dearest Chintu uncle... Always... So heartbroken... May your soul rest in peace. God Bless. There will never be another... just too special... and the memories... precious... Miss you and love you forever."
Aishwarya along with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya had visited the actor in US last year when he was undergoing treatment for cancer.
