‘Badhaai Ho’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Sanya Malhotra in important roles will get another lease of life as producer Boney Kapoor plans to remake the film in several South Indian languages.
Grossing over Rs 200 crore at the domestic box office, the film will be remade in four languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
As per a report published in Mumbai Mirror, Kapoor has acquired the rights to remake the film.
The film was centred around a 25-year-old guy (played by Ayushmann) who gets to know that his parents are expecting another baby and everything that happens around the drama of getting a third sibling.
Confirming the news, Boney said, “Yes, I have acquired the rights to all the South languages. It’s a film that resonates with both the masses and classes so I was keen on remaking it. I am yet to decide whether the Tamil or the Telugu version go on the floors first as it’s work in progress.”
He added, "The Hindi version has done extremely well in the heartland, in fact, across the country, and I am confident the reception down South will be as overwhelming.”
Boney is also producing Amit Sharma's next film starring Ajay Devgn in a biopic on Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.
Ayushmann Khurrana's film 'Badhaai Ho' had a great run at the box office with the cast of the film receiving lauds for their acting.
