New Delhi, India
India beat England by 68 runs in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024 edition on Thursday (June 27) at the Province Stadium, Guyana. In a contest which had a delayed start due to rain, and was a stop-start affair for most parts -- also due to a wet outfield, Rohit Sharma-led India were asked to bat first and rode on the captain's 57 and Suryakumar Yadav's 47 to post 171-7. In reply, England folded for 103 in 16.4 overs due to Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav's three-fers each. After the contest, Rohit was seen a relieved man, also being emotional (likely), with Virat Kohli comforting him.

After a thrashing by eventual winners England in the T20 WC 2022 semifinal, in Adelaide, Rohit's India came out as a more confident unit this time around against the same opposition in Guyana. At one point, India were 40-2 inside the powerplays before Rohit-Surya's 75-run third-wicket stand bailed the team out. Later, Hardik, Jadeja and Axar Patel's vital cameos took them to a challenging 171-7.
In reply, England started confidently riding on captain Jos Buttler's boundaries. However, Axar removed him on his first delivery of the match. Later, Kuldeep also joined the party as the defending champions folded for a mere 103 in 16.4 overs to bow out of the 20-nation event, being held in the West Indies and the USA.
India will now face South Africa -- both being the unbeaten teams in this year's competition -- in the mega final on Saturday (June 29) in Barbados.
